The HiFiMAN RE400 are small and tiny earphones that are extremely lightweight.Designed to look simple, it boasts of no over the top or fancy design. The earplugs have a nice metallic finish, while the back sports a shiny silver finish with concentric circles. The casing itself is devoid of any branding. We love the understated clean design.
The RE400 is connected via a 50-inch long oxygen cable. The cable is wrapped up in rubber from the earbuds to the Y-splitter. The Extended wire from the connector is covered in braided fabric and doesn't feel flimsy at all. The RE400's construction is sturdy to look and feel, and it is worth noting that the L-shaped plug holds better than any other plug.
THE RE400 AND THE MDR-EX750AP, BOTH BOAST OF A DURABLE AND STURDY BODY.Unlike the HiFiMAN RE400, the Sony MDR-EX750AP features a body that is comparatively bigger in size. Sony has not designed these in-ears to look over-dramatic. Very simply, they employ a minimalist design. The MDR-EX750AP is available in a choice of three colours - Blue, Black and Red.
DOUBLE FLANGE TIPS ON THE HiFiMAN'S GUARANTEE GREAT ISOLATION AND COMFORT.
The Sony MDR-EX750AP fit like any other canal phone. And, you may find that the in-ears do cause some amount of discomfort during long hours of continuous music listening. Furthermore, the aluminium body further causes an increase of pressure on your ears.
The MDR-EX750AP comes packed with 4 pairs of eartips. And, the right combination of ear tips can aid in giving you a better fit. Getting an excellent fit may be questionable, but Comply's Universal Eartips will solve that problem.

RE400'S NATURAL AND BALANCED SOUND IS COMMENDABLE.
The Sony MDR-EX750AP are comparatively fun sounding in-ears. These in-ears don't match up to the legacy of the XB (Extra Bass) series. So what to expect? A relatively flat audio response.
The in-ears deliver a tight bass, that is not very punchy or thumpy. You do feel the lows, but not as much as uncontrolled bass, that gives your audio an unnecessary boost. The mids are clean crisp and every little detail comes through. The highs do get muffled and sound as though they are buried.
When it comes to the soundstage, it is favourably airy. However, it is not the most impressive soundstage that we have experienced, and the RE400 definitely does a better job.
The Sony MDR-EX750AP has a more fun sounding flat response and will appeal to Sony fanatics who don't care too much about bass. However, if you are looking for some serious audiophile quality audio, the HiFiMAN RE400 is where you should look.
If you are a guy looking for audio that is pure, then the HiFiMAN RE400 should be your pick. These in-ears offer pleasing audiophile standard sound at a price that does not burn your pocket.
The Sony MDR-EX750AP does not stray too far away from the HiFiMAN RE400 in terms of audio quality. However, when compared to the HiFiMAN RE400, the Sony MDR-EX750AP fails on multiple levels.
