How to Choose the Best Bluetooth Earphones under 2000

We know that choosing the best in wireless earphones, especially when you're on a budget can be a tough call to make. We've identified 8 factors that will help set your criteria for what to look for in budget wireless earphones under Rs. 2000.

  1. “One size fits all” is a scam. There, we said it. Sure, there are some that fit most but surely can’t fit all. Everybody is different and have a unique requirement and use when it comes to their headphones. The more you understand the requirement, the better you’ll be able to decide what’s best for you. You know what they say - Eeny meeny miny moe, the more you know the less you’re unsure. We might’ve made that one up but you get the gist.

  2. Plastic and metals are usually used in headphones. Metal ones are obviously more durable yet plastic ones tend to be less heavy. You might wish to pay attention to the cords or cables that come along as different manufacturers also tend to focus on using the right kind of materials to make them more user-friendly. Choose wisely.

  3. As most options in the list are in-ears, the fit is an important aspect. Think of it like using the right cork stopper for the right bottle. If it fits, it sits - simple. Some in-ears also have a unique shape that is purposely designed to fit ergonomically with the generic shape of the human ear. The fit is particularly important if you’re thinking of using your in-ears while working out or in activities that involve movement, like commuting.

  4. Cutting out the humdrum of one’s surroundings is an important aspect of listening to music on headphones. The passive form of noise cancellation is known as Noise Isolation. More on that here. The price bracket in question won’t have noise cancellation options. So, brands use the fit to make sure it’s secure enough to avoid ambient noise to seep in.

  5. While wireless technology is yet to be on par with the performance of wired headphones, newer versions of Bluetooth are consistently closing in on the gap. In the options listed below, Bluetooth versions 4, 4.1 and 5 are available. The differences might not be massive but it’s best to know the bang you get for your buck.

  6. Most headphones have an IPX rating. This usually determines just how much water or sweat proof a headphone is. There are decent options here but don’t think of using them while in the shower or while swimming! They’ll be good enough for your regular workouts and walks or when running away from a dog chasing you. Random, yes but c’est la vie!

  7. Warranty is a big deal to you, we get it. Sure! We believe you when you say you didn’t step on the headphone and crush it accidentally. Can’t promise how that’s going to go down but it sure does help you and us both to know that all these options come with a 1-year warranty.

  8. Most headphones are universally compatible with Androids, iPhones and Windows (really? still?) too. If it were wired, you’d have to pay close attention as there are options that even cater to the C-type smartphones. With wireless, compatibility is mostly universal.
