The Top 3 Best In-Ear Monitors, 2019

This category is where brands aim to offer the best they can. Although it is still regarded as a rather niche category in India, consumption of entry-level IEMs has grown considerably. And rightly so, because the combination of value for money and high-quality is probably the best you can get.

What should you be looking for?

This marks the beginning of the high-end range, so understandably, build quality will be top notch for all products with earphones offering high-quality full metal construction and robust cables.

If you're a serious audiophile, then this is the best price point to venture at.

Almost all earphones around this price category are balanced or flat and true to life. The bass-heavy models in this range, however, do provide tight, energetic bass that doesn't compromise on the mids and highs.

A remote and mic functionality is definitely very common. However, most models do come with variants with or without the mic which you can usually get by paying a thousand or so more.

Our Headphone Gurus' Top Pick

Campfire Audio Comet

The Out-of-This World IEM
Campfire Audio Comet

The Guru Says

"Audiophile sound at a non-audiophile price. That's what makes the Comet one of the best for beginners."

- Varun Soni

Instantly recognizable by their distinct looks and sleek design, the Comet features a stainless steel body and an in-line mic and remote design.

The most affordable offering from the house of Campfire Audio, the Comet houses a custom tuned Balanced Armature driver that delivers full bass and mids that easily balance with the open and extended highs.

The Good

1 BA configuration makes the monitors sound near-ideal.
Features an inline mic and remote
Comes with foam tips and Spin fit tips in-the-box

The Bad

Metal surface is prone to scratches.
Minute detailing seems off at times

Our other picks in this category are:

Moondrop Kanas Pro

The Reference Pro
Moondrop Kanas Pro

The Moondrop Kanas Pro is a beautifully crafted universal IEM that, unlike many other products at this price point, have a reference tuning suitable for monitoring as well as for audiophile enjoyment.

It has a very accurate tuning for a near-reference sound. A DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) driver that is used in big name IEMs such as the Campfire Audio Atlas, make it a steal.

The Good

Absolutely beautiful audio reproduction.
A purist would love the pure reference sound reproduction.

The Bad

The surface is susceptible to fingerprints.
The housing can easily get oxidized due to constant moisture exposure.

DUNU Titan 5

The Unbalanced Titan
DUNU Titan 5

DUNU is a relatively unknown brand to many but their earphones have garnered quite a bit of praise from audiophile critics worldwide. The Dunu Titan 5 are a newer offering under the critically-acclaimed Titan series.

Unlike other Titans who believe in restoring balance; these sound warmer, more engaging and more fun than the technically good Titan 3. One of the best sounding earbud-style headphones for the price, they’ve managed to pack incredible clarity and bass into a small stainless steel housing that fits discreetly and comfortably in the ear.

The Good

Great sound with amazing detailing
The stainless steel build
The buds fitting ensures a wide sound response

The Bad

The buds fit doesn’t facilitate a lot of isolation
The earpieces may feel heavy to some
