As a company that aims to provide the best music listening experience you can possibly get, we are acutely aware of the lack of information and appreciation that most people have about good audio. And that's something that all audiophiles, music lovers and manufacturers of various audio components feel.
Sony took the onus upon themselves and embarked on a quest to bring great sound to the masses through Project Resound.
Sony, together with India’s leading music artists, aimed to "upgrade your ears" and to make you hear music the way it's meant to be heard. Because according to them, "It's not just sound, it's resound."
For the first season of Project Resound, Sony commissioned Bollywood luminaries Kailash Kher and Shreya Ghoshal to collaborate on a track that’ll help convince listeners to invest in high-end headphones. The track was accompanied by a series of webisodes which covered the creation of the song and had both singers talking about the state of music in India and the problems musicians face among other things.
The track, "Naina Chaar" was a resounding hit, clocking more than a million views in more than 70 countries. Both Kailash Kher and Shreya Ghoshal also collaborated for their first web concert and performed a number of their popular tracks with the desire to convey the importance of 'purity of sound' and how great music through great headphones can truly touch your heart.
With the resounding success of Project Resound, Sony came back for a second season with a focus that shifted away from Bollywood, towards headliner-level (semi) non-Bollywood musicians. 10 artists came together to create 4 different songs from combinations likeNucleya and Benny Dayal ,Midival Punditz andKutle Khan , andKarsh Kale andPentagram; with one message: Upgrade Your Ears.
Whether they succeeded in conveying this message remains to be seen, but Sony has succeeded in creating beautiful music that is truly soul stirring.
