This New Technology Lets You Hear Music Through Your Skull

Earbuds and in-ear earphones can be annoying. We believe all of us have felt that atleast once in our life.  They won’t stay in, sometimes you have a one bud in, one bud out scenario (if you wish to hear anything other than what’s streaming through your device), and not to forget the knotty cord situation.

What if we told you that all if these scenarios can be avoided?

A London-based company have invented a pair of headphones, Batband which send sound waves through the bones of the skull into the inner ear without the need of earbuds. Batband is something that’s cordless and bypasses your outer ears all together. It allows you to listen through bone conduction and “ hear through your skull.”

Wondering how it works?

Batband uses bone conduction to send sound waves directly into the ‘private’ ear, leaving a user’s ‘social’ ear free to hear surrounding noises. The band features three transducers, two of which emit sound waves from the sides of a user’s head and one from the back of a user’s head. It is designed to be highly discreet, making it virtually inaudible to outsiders. Your ears remain free, therefore you get to hear twice as much, without compromising on comfort, quality or style.

The headband sound system serves mainly for people who might need to hear their outside environment as well, like people who are driving or bicycling. Apart from being extremely comfortable, the design team of Batband has also kept ergonomics in mind as they wanted to make it a very wearable product for a lifestyle on the go. One shortcoming of the Batband could be that, jumping and extreme running compromises with the grip of the band on your head.

The device is said to have a battery life of six hours of music playback and eight hours of conversation.

We at Headphone Zone are eagerly waiting for this technology to be launched. What do you guys think about it?
