After the announcement of the LCD-4, Audeze introduces an all-new Cypher Cable for its EL-8 at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. It is the world's first Apple accredited lightening headphone cable. The Cypher extracts the digital audio from the the Apple device via its Lightning port directly, bypassing the iPhone’s internal DAC and amplifier stage entirely and is thus powered by the phone itself.
Audeze has come up with an all in one solution with its Cypher cable and promises better sound for your iPhone without the use of an external amplifier and/or DAC. The new cable keeps the power consumption suitably low and applies DSP before decoding and electrifying the EL-8’s driver with an optimising signal.
The cable provides the traditional remote control functions of pause/play, forward/next and also integrates with Siri. The Cypher cable will soon be an apple approved accessory. Further, Audeze also wants to launch a dedicated iOS app which will bring new features to the Cypher via firmware upgrade.
Audeze plans to sell this Cypher cable only as part of a special edition ‘Titanium’-finished EL-8 bundle. Overall, the Audeze EL-8 combined with the Cypher cable will be the same as loudspeakers like KEF’s X300A.
