Audeze LCD-X is a luxury gadget for audiophiles looking for the ultimate in sound quality. It is meant to extract the maximum power out of low-powered amplifiers and portable devices. So we tried the LCD-X on our computer and portable music player to review it

Look and Design

Like most other magnetic headphones, the LCD-X is heavy. It has an all-metal body covered with leather casings for your comfort. For the ears too it has a snug fit leather covering. It has an open back, which means it leaks sound while listening and isn't ideal for noise cancellation. We found it particularly huge and stressing the neck with the weight. So it would be ideal for a short span, but for long hours we would recommend a lighter piece.

Because of its size and weight it is definitely not a good choice for portable headphones. We would prefer using it at home or in the personal studio with the amplifier.

Gadget Review: Audeze LCD-X Headphones

Sound Quality

The LCD-X befits recording studios and musicians for its accurate playback. It uses a proprietary Audeze technique for eliminating the breakup modes to improve focus and clarity. What we particularly like about this one is that even with the planar magnetic technology, it offers a dynamic style - a more live music feel.

Whether it is streaming an online video or listening to a high-quality song, it has the larger-than-life speaker feel rather than a headphone. The reason for this is the Fazor elements that guide and manage the flow of sound for improved frequency extension and a more enveloping soundstage.

Another point is the clarity and depth. I captured the lightest of background score that offered a holistic listening experience. It is almost like watching a high-definition 3D movie but in sound waves. The natural sounds of LCD-X are supported by a headphone pin as well as a direct amplifier pin.

Finally, we think it works well with portable players, smartphones as well as desk devices, but for best results we recommend using it with an amplifier.

The Audeze LCD-X is priced at INR 1,19,900 and can be purchased in India exclusively via
