Despite efforts made to combat its prevalence, there exists a rampant grey secondary market for headphones and audio equipment. In recent times, a drastic increase in the number of fakes available has been observed.

Major and popular brands like Sony are highly susceptible to this. The Japanese giant has provided a few handy tips to help you spot a fake from an original headphone or earphone.

Sony 1 Year warranty sticker on original

Your genuine Sony headphone comes with a 1 year warranty sticker while the fake one doesn't.

MRP Sticker on Genuine Sony

Your genuine Sony headphone comes with an MRP sticker while the fake one doesn't.

Correct Barcode on Original Sony

Your genuine Sony earphone has a bar code that ends with (E) or (IN) while a fake headphone generally has a (CH) or (CN) suffix.
