Exercising has become a way of life for many. Fitness is the mantra and people workout for hours in its pursuit.

Earphone and headphone brands recognize that a large chunk of their consumers use their products while exercising, both in air-conditioned gymnasiums and in open air spaces, often in harsh environments. The need of the hour is therefore to develop equipment that fits securely, is sweat resistant and toughened against the harsh elements of nature.  

Here are a few new earphones available in India that aim to fulfill these requirements and a lot more.

Sennheiser Sports Series


The newly launched Sennheiser sports series have been developed with the participation of athletes who understand that earphones need to be moisture resistant, have different wearing styles, superior strength and reliability, and provide a powerful dynamic sound that never fails to motivate them. 

This series had 4 earphone models. The MX 686G Sports and CX 686G Sports has an in-ear c-tip desgn for a secure fit. The latter model also has antimicrobial ear adapters for hygiene purposes. The OCX 686G Sports earphones have an ergonomic clip type design. The PMX 686G Sports has an attractive and durable neckband style designed for and active lifestyle.

Audio Technica Sports Series

Audio Technica has come out with its sports series that comprises the ATH-SPORT1iS that has an oval rubber ring, and a clip on ear loop, the ATH-SPORT2 having a design that has been angled to go behind the neck and the ATH-SPORT3 which has a flexible memory wire that has to be wound behind the ear for a custom and secure fit.

Panasonic - RP-HGS10

These bone conduction earphones have a unique and revolutionary design that has been built for sports lovers. They are water resistant and have an open ear design in which music is transferred through the skull rather than from inside the ear canal. This allows you to listen to pay attention to your surroundings while enjoying your music. 

Sony MDR-AS600BT

The Sony - MDR-AS600BT are amazing splash-proof earphones with Bluetooth NFC Connectivity that make it the ideal gym companion. They also feature a mic that'll easily allow you to take calls and are available in three different  colours too.

Jabra Sports Pulse Wireless

The Jabra Sport Pulse Wireless is one of the most modern pair of sports in-ear headphones. Winner of the CES 2015 Innovation Award, these headphones can actually read your heart rate accurately. Apart from the accurate heart-rate monitoring, the Jabra Sport Pulse Wireless is alsosand, dust and rain resistant, making it military grade durable and suitable for the harshest of work out sessions. 

Panasonic - RP-HSC200

The Panasonic HSC200 achieves fantastic sound with one of the best sound isolation features. It has a strong build and is water and sweat resistant. It also has a unique design combination of a clip-on and in-ear earphone.

We had given Imran Munshi the Meze - 99 Classics for a week to test the same and write a review for it. It has good bass though it is not deep enough. It's relaxing but not very smooth, not harsh either. It's weird actually. The wooden back would help with natural instrument presentation, at least that was expected.
