  • The Long Story

Smallest Earphones with Planar Magnetic Technology

Audeze has come to be known for creating the world’s greatest planar magnetic headphones. They bring to us award-winning audio products that have been engineered with the latest innovations in science and technology.

    Unique Planar Magnetic Technology

Planar magnets are known to be bulky and most audiophiles have been, for years, just dreaming about earphones with planar magnetic technology. Audeze has made this a reality with the all-new iSine series. They’re ridiculously minuscule with a weight of mere 20 gms. How they managed to fit in all of Audeze’s patented technology including power enhancing Fluxor magnets, causes some serious bewilderment in our minds. From the very first listen, it’s easy to be blown away by the tiny iSine20’s accurate sound signature.

A Step ahead from iSINE 10

The difference between the iSine 10 and 20 is that the iSine 20 has a longer Uniforce voice coil which covers even more of the planar magnetic diaphragms. This provides better control and responsiveness for natural bass, clarity, and improved imaging. The impedance of the iSine 10 is 16 ohms, and the 20 is 24 ohms which indicate that the iSINE 20 has more resolution, smoother midrange but an identical bass response. They are equipped with Planar drivers, Fluxor magnets, and ultra-thin diaphragms, and can be used with iPods, iPhones, and iPads.

Make Heads turn with the Fantastic Design

The iSine clearly flaunts a flashy geometric design. You could call it a spider’s web if you wish. They look extremely luxurious with its gold finish. Heads are bound to turn, so might as well accept your fate.

Designed for Audeze by Designworks USA, a BMW Group Company

Audeze’s collaboration with Designworks USA, a BMW Group Company has been extremely fruitful. Great thought and research have gone into designing every part of the iSine in order to bring Audeze’s world renowned sound to your ears.

    World's first planar In-Ear

Planar magnetic headphones tackle several limitations of the traditional cone shaped speakers and offer incredible detail and accuracy in terms of sound. The only drawback was that the massive magnets made them very VERY big. But the iSine20 is different. They’re in-ear planar magnetic earphones that have been specially designed for Apple devices, however, it can also be used with Android devices. It’s very easy for us to admire Audeze’s feat of bringing to the world audio planar sound in an incredibly light package.

Audeze iOS App to Customise Sound Your Way

The Audeze iOS app lets you customise your music the way you love to listen to it. Refine bass levels or peak up the highs, do whatever you like! The two EQ presets travel with the cable when switching devices. Like all Audeze CIPHER cables, the iSine20’s cable also incorporates a powerful DAC, capable of 24-Bit lossless high-resolution audio streaming. This CIPHER cable has been specifically optimised for the iSine10 and iSine20.

Audeze’s Award Winning CIPHER Cable for High-Resolution Sound

Audeze’s CIPHER Lightning Cable has been specially optimized to deliver 24-bit digital audio from all Apple devices to the earphones. The Cipher cable astoundingly contains an in-line amplifier, digital-to-analog converter and DSP delivering sound that is vivid and enhanced. Never before has earphones anywhere been able to evoke such an expansive and lively sense of soundstage as does the iSine20.

    Take Control

The three button remote works perfectly with all the iOS devices and lets you control your calls and music in no time. The buttons lets you control your music without having to open your phone. You can also use the app exclusive to iPhone devices to customize your music further.

Great sounding compact planars but questionable comfort

I am writing this as an attempt to avoid hearts end up being broker unnecessarily. Because our relationship with music is that intense and that is why you are hear at Headphonezone and reading my 2 cents on these 'headphones'.

My recommendation or rather I should say suggestion for the audiophiles interested in this would be see if you can try them out somewhere if possible and use them until you are confident about the comfort before you buy them. If they are comfortable to you, then there is nothing else that you would need until they are dead. And I would go further enough and dare to say that even when they are dead, you may want to purchase new ones again. Because they are exceptional in what they do. For those who don't and you have small ears too like me, try the on ear Audeze Sine headphones (5 thousand less) or wait for the one ear Audeze Sine DX (same price) to come to the market if you prefer the open back design. If on ear headphones are not your cup of tea, then go all the way for the over ear Audeze EL 8 (again open or closed according to your preference). You are shelling out another 5 thousand for those but the technology is worth the cost.

In my opinion, if you can't be comfortable in using your headphone, then those headphones are not yours (or atleast not for you). Specially if you wear spectacles. Disappointingly and with a broken heart I had to return them and bear the cost charged by HeadphoneZone to restock them. Also not to mention the cost to send them back. And that seem to be fair because at the end of the day, irrespective of how much passionate they are towards music and sound and the devices that produce them, they have a business to run.

I do hope I have helped you in some way to may your decision. Cheers!!

One of a KIND! But please read full review for your own benefit..

It's now nearly a year since I purchased these set, but it took me a while to understand its full potential. I own multiple earphones ranging from professional set like Audio Technica ATH E70 to audiophile grade headphones like MSR7.
But iSine 20 is different in many ways. Firstly, its wearability issues coupled with open back design may put off many, especially on noisy streets of India. This was an issue for me, I ended up thinking why did I buy this product for 40k as there were many other options. Although it sounded different in a good way nothing compelled me to be in awe of it.
Slowly as I started using these with amplifiers like Audioquest dragonfly red and then with ifi iDSD BL I realized what these things are capable of.
To all music lovers and audio enthusiast I say this which many audio forums and reviewers have not thrusted upon, these headphones (yes not iem's) will scale up very well and sound fulfilling with higher amplification.
It sounds like a headphone not like an iem but is small in size. Beautiful 3D sound experience; simultaneously giving you an audiophile grade sound. Scales up to amplification very well giving you dynamic sound. Finally, there is no other product that matches to such sound & physical characteristics (other is Unique Melody ME.1, but has smaller driver & is inferior in comparison to sound dynamics).
So should you buy it? A definite yes if you want to enjoy audiophile grade sound conveniently indoors with great amplification capability compared to having to use humongous sized headphones.
Enjoy distortion free sound of 3D quality (not exaggerating please try it yourself).
But, and this is something you should be aware of, it not meant to be used on Indian streets as noise pollution is comparatively high so although it's easy to wear around your use will be restricted to indoors.
Is this a caveat that I or you can possibly live with, i personally think yes because of what you get in return - A one of a kind experie...

The best pair of earphones you can buy, if you can put up with it's cons.

The first thing you'll notice when you start listening to them - the huuuuuge soundstage. You'll be able to hear every single instrument and every single detail in songs spaced out around you as if you're right there in the middle of the band while they're playing. Live songs are especially amazing. It'll seem as if you're right on the stage and you can actually make out the different directions in which the audience is cheering and singing from.

Detail retrieval and imaging is simply superb. However, if you have bad recordings or poorly mastered songs then it'll be very obvious.

Next, the sublime bass. It has deep impact, yet it never spills out or overpowers the rest of the frequency spectrum. It won't make your head shake with voluminous quantities of it, but it'll definitely make your ears rumble in pleasure with it's sheer smoothness.

Now I've only listened with the standard cable and not the cipher cable (no iPhone) which is why I've had to fiddle a bit to get the mids and treble just right as the sound signature past the 1k mark isn't completely flat and a little off sounding. Digging through headfi forums, it turns out that the tuning isn't perfect because audeze has taken their LCD drivers and made them really really small for the iSine which had the side effect of a non flat frequency response. This they apparently fixed with the cipher cable which applies a specially tuned EQ for the iSine through an inbuilt DSP. So if you're an apple user, then don't think again - just buy these. If not, you'll have to be open to fiddling with the equalizer to get the sound just right.

This doesn't mean however that the sound quality is impacted in any way. There is zero distortion thanks to the planar magnetic drivers no matter how much you change the equalizer.

Once you're found the right settings though, you'll not be able to stop yourself from grinning at how good they sound. Acoustic tracks are beautiful and airy, classical music is especially swe...

The Planar Magnetic For Everyone

Why Buy Audeze iSine 20?

TL:DR version

Comfort - No other Planar can touch this. Its an in-ear and fit options work very well.

Sound - Planar sound, exceptional bass and vocals. Treble is just right.

Portability/Ease of Use - Leaks sounds. Great for home or hotel use. Cipher cable + Iphone is perfect for portability and convenience of use. Equalisation option with Cipher is a huge bonus. Chord Mojo (with Roon Audeze presets) made them really shine.

Considering the price and what’s on offer, iSine 20 triangulates better on comfort, sound and ease of use exceptionally well. It is not for people looking for a portable solution for the commute, but won't disturb co-workers at low volumes in an office environment.

The (Slightly) Longer Version

• Dynamic Driver headphones generally, after a while, sound bright; Planars generally don’t. If you are looking to buy a Planar, read on. If you don’t know what a planar magnetic headphone is, please read Headphonezone Audiophile 101 Chapter 4 or go to Innerfidelity.

• Several Planars are rated as the best headphones in over-ear categories (Innerfidelity, Wirecutter), but heavy as lead. So, I’ve been waiting for them to diet down. iSine 20 has shed all the weight - 20 gms ! Its also on Tyll’s (Innerfidelity) Wall of Fame and (iSine 10s) got a Reviewer’s Choice Award from Brent Butterworth on Soundstage! Experience. Read their reviews as they cover more details (including frequency response, impedance andTHD measurements for the geeks).

• I’ve been yearning for accuracy of bass but not with a compromise on quantity and clarity in vocals. Basically a LCD-3 but significantly cheaper. iSine delivers this in spades. I do not own an LCD-3, but have auditioned it. These two are not close in terms of sound, but you have to see it as a package.

• Open backs generally sound very coherent. They are also more comfortable in a hot and humid environment as they breathe unlike a closed back headphone. iSin...

Very good, Excellent

Sorry for the late review. Because before review i want to burn this headphone for at least 100 hrs.Initially i am not much impressed with this one because i was using Meze 99 Classic and that headphone is great and it price is also very reasonable. Once i also thought to return back, but as i read return policy and there mentioned that " give some time for burning" so i decided to give some time for burning and now i like this headphone very much.Initially it looks very uncomfortable buy nowadays it is ok. Thanks Pravin and sorry for late review. Thanks HPZ team. Now i am looking for Hifiman Sundara,Is any chance?
