Flat Sound Signature

A Flat sound signature offers an accurate presentation of sounds without adding colour to your music. Simply put, this sound signature presents audio without boosting any frequencies. As a result, it’s the most natural-sounding signature and provides the closest reproduction of how a track was recorded and produced. Due to their accurate sound reproduction, flat sound signature headphones are preferred by Music professionals, Sound Engineers and used in professional studios for mixing and mastering music tracks and are also loved by audiophiles for immersive listening sessions. You can listen to Classical, Rock, Jazz, Blues, Folk & possibly every genre in music.

Closed-Back Design

Headphones with a Closed-Back design are completely sealed around the ear cup, allowing the sound to travel directly into your ears. This means that closed-back headphones block out outside noise, giving much better isolation, and minimising sound leakage to those around you.

Needs Amplification

Headphones and IEMs require a certain level of power to sound their best and work at their full potential. When your headphones or IEMs are underpowered, they can sound thin or muffled.

Amplifiers are required to provide adequate power to your headphone or IEMs to perform at their best. Simply put, amplifiers allow a weak audio signal to be boosted to a powerful one.

To put it into perspective, devices such as your phones and laptops come with an amplifier, but they offer very limited output power. This output may not be sufficient to power headphones and IEMs to shine at their best. This is where a dedicated amplifier is required to deliver adequate power to hear your music in all its glory.

Sony has been the most venerable consumer and professional-grade audio electronics company. Sony’s humble beginning started in Japan in 1946 from the sheer determination and hard work of two bright and enterprising young men. Sony MDR 7506

The legendary headphones are still selling hot not because they are cheap, but also they do justice to why they were made for. These headphones are a big no for bassheads or casual listeners who prefer colored headphones over accurate monitoring. If you wish to listen stuff they way they are intended to, these are the cans you should look forward to. The build quality is great, outside isolation is good, fits well around your ears, sounds great, comfortable to wear.... What else do you need from a headphone costing around Rs 6K!

As an Audio Engineer, my biggest cause of concern is it's emphasized high end at around 8-10kHz. You may also feel sweaty around your ears if your room doesn't have an AC. You may feel a little bit of ache after prolonged listening (that's why people prefer Open Back headphones for studio monitoring). Apart from that I'm a bit unsure about the thin wires that seem to connect the cans at either sides (Visible just above the SONY logo).

However, I can't ignore the fact that it's a great sounding headphone despite it's shortcomings. It's Soundstage is impressively wide. Mids are flat which is great for monitoring purposes. Lows End representation is good & tight. They are great for tracking, for listening purposes, for referencing during mixing (Thanks to the wide soundstage). They could also serve as a good headphone for foldback purposes like for drummers. Even it's major shortcoming has been put to good use. Due to their accentuated highs, they are being used by Sync Sound/Location Recordists for determining noises & hisses while recording dialogues/sound fx.

For a common man, these headphones are good if you need a natural sounding headphone while being comfortable & long lasting. Indeed it's one of the best products that Sony made and the constant sales since decades are a proof of it.

Great experience

Overall amazing headphones. Perfect studio monitors. Very detailed. Having a good time listening in this. Finding something new in every song. I have already used beyerdynamic dt770 and audio technica m50x. But I like these more. Dt770s treble boost was too harsh for my ears. This sounds like m50xs without the extreme high boost and deep bass boost. Sounds fairly flat. You cannot miss any frequencies in these. From deep bass to extreme highs, perfectly balanced, with slight upper mid focus, that sounds very good. That gives the clarity to these headphones. I am working with krk rokit 5 monitors, this headphone gives the same feel, but this gives the detailed sub bass that the rokit 5 cannot give. I'm planning to make this my primary mixing headphones. Thanks to Andrew Scheps for inspiring me to buy these. There is no competition for these in this price range. This one beats the more pricier models. No regrets. Go for it and have fun.

Thanks a lot for your detailed and genuine feedback, we're glad that you have such positive thoughts about the product and we'll share your thoughts with the brand as well. It'll also help our fellow customers to make the right choice!
