The drivers used in the Shure SRH940 are the 40mm large neodymium drivers that help in the reproduction of accurate audio across an extended range.
The SRH940 has a closed-back and circumaural design that rests comfortably over the ears and reduces ambient background noise. SRH940 has a flatter frequency response and lower distortion. Optimized for home and studio recording, SRH940 headphones reproduce accurate audio across the frequency range.
The adjustable headband and collapsible design provide comfort and portability. SRH940 has an improved headband design that is more comfortable to wear and better balanced on the head. The SRH940 has velour ear pads that provide better comfort than leatherette ear pads.
These professional monitoring headphones feature a precisely tailored frequency response that delivers a flat sound response. The impedance, power handling and sensitivity of these headphones have all been calibrated for professional audio devices.
SRH940 is supplied with a hard plastic carrying case, a coiled cable, and a straight cable. The 3m coiled, detachable cable provides plenty of length, the replaceable earcup pads ensure long product life and Shure's promise of excellent quality. The standard straight cable can be used for all the tribulations of day-to-day lives. Also, the headphones include a hard zippered travel case and a threaded 1/4" (6.3) mm gold-plated adapter.

Quite a winning product, in my opinion. Just remember that given the accurate, monitoring stance of the SRH-940, the headphones are very picky about your source and recording quality.
"The V-Moda M-100 Master is a compelling pair of headphones. Its price hits the sweet spot for premium cans and durability is leagues ahead of the competition."
"The Audio Technica ATH-M70x was a very pleasant surprise, it's very much an audiophile grade headphone, built to last, and sound great while doing so."
“You may have listened to headphones that are quite good. The HD 599 will show you what lies beyond that. Be warned: there is no turning back”
