Selective hearing experience

I feel that the SE425s have a very selective hearing experience. They are supposed to be mid centric, but that isn't totally true. Electronic sources such as the synth and guitar sound really good, whereas acoustic sounds are lacking. The so called timbre of the instrument is virtually absent. Same can be said about the vocals.
It's like food without smell. The bass is a bit too low so everything sounds flat at times. I'm no bass fan, heck this is a statement coming from someone who owns a pair of HD 558s, so when I mean there is no bass, I don't exaggerate, and let's not forget that these aren't open aired, that only makes my comment worse. I think the highs are rather decent, not too great, not bad either.

I want to mention specifically that cymbals on drums make me cringe. I have heard absolutely no worse sound than that. Even a set of rs 700 earphones would do better there.

Also, recordings matter. Some songs sound absolutely brilliant and some absolutely horrible. You might be wondering how I even mentioned absolutely brilliant. That's the funny thing, these earphones are so random, they surprise you at times. And maybe that's why I mentioned specific hearing.

My final verdict being, that I wouldn't recommend these, they are too selective to enjoy. I prefer the sound of a klipsch s4 which is 20k cheaper when we talk mrp.

PS. You will need to make sure your ear tips fit you otherwise you may get a heart attack when you hear em (they are unusable otherwise) . Try using a cloth and follow the same instructions.

Also, I really liked the free comply foam tips I got. Extremely nice. I'm using those at the moment.

Ideal Earphone for Indian Commuter

I've been using this for the past 15 months. Purchased on this website. upgraded from a Shure SE215 SPL edition (the blue one) Highly recommended for the Indian commuter. Also works on stage as in-ear monitors. Cuts out a lot of noise. Brilliant image and Detail. Unforgiving with badly mixed songs. It reveals the real recorded and mixed quality of your favorite song. Really shines with vintage records like those from Motown etc... The bass is placed precisely places at the bottom of the image. These earphones also tend to "disappear" - Sounds like your standing right next to a guitar amp. I have used this to mix a few songs which came out well. So works as a sort of budget reference earphone (I used this with a Focusrite interface) for mixing as well.... Cable seems to last a year as mine seems to need a bit of adjustment to work. The advantage is that I can replace the cables. Not recommended for the "Bass head"
