What can I say about the DX3 Pro. It's a brilliant DAC. A brilliant amp. It even comes with a Bluetooth streamer and remote control. For the price, you cannot get a better HI-FI system inside a single box.

DESCRIPTION

The Topping Audio DX3 Pro is a tiny box of audio wonder. It's been certified as 'Hi-Res Wireless Audio.' This is all thanks to Bluetooth v5.0 and the CSR8675 chipset that supports LDAC, aptX HD, aptX and AAC. What's more? Topping has developed a process to do away with the inbuilt DAC of the CSR8675 and directly decode the audio signal using the AK4493 DAC.

The AKM AK4493 is an upgrade from the popular AK4490 DAC Chip, used in some of the best audio players and DACs in the world. Each channel has a dedicated DAC chip for better performance. The XMOS XU208 offers up to DSD 512 native and PCM 32-bit/768kHz resolution for USB inputs.

The DX3 Pro can drive just about any headphone or IEM. It boasts an output power up to 700mW x2@32Ω load or 125mW x2@300Ω. The OPA1612 OP-AMP and Headphone Protection circuits are designed to keep your headphones safe. Need a pre-amp or standalone DAC? Change the output mode to 'Preamplifier' or 'DAC' using the handy remote. The screen clearly displays the current sampling rate and volume.

The DX3 Pro comes with an AK4118 receiver that offers low jitter and compatibility with multiple devices. Two coaxial inputs and 1 optical input offer a resolution up to 24-bit/192kHz. Customised Thesycon drivers for Windows 7 & above offer seamless connectivity with PCs while the USB input lets you easily connect it to your smartphone. You can stream audio via this DAC/AMP by connecting it to your source device using Bluetooth or use it as a Receiver using the RCA output.

Dx3pro, an all-rounder for a budget offering

I originally wanted to get the E30 and L30, being considered one of the best budget options if you want separates. Unavailability of the L30 led me to look at other options, and that led me to the Dx3pro.

If you want a budget all in one device, the Dx3pro is hard to beat. Bluetooth, remote control, small form factor, lineout as well as a headphone amp. The only changes I'd want is a 6.5mm headphone socket instead of 3.5mm. Note that this won't compete with a dedicated amp (like the L30) but if you have the right headphone (read non iem), this is plenty. I expect that this device will be enough for most with a budget in mind. This is the V2 version of the device. Online reviews complain about output impedance being high, so check your headphones!

Unless you need any one of balanced, MQA, 6.5mm this little device is more than enough.
