Flat Sound Signature

A Flat sound signature offers an accurate presentation of sounds without adding colour to your music. Simply put, this sound signature presents audio without boosting any frequencies. As a result, it’s the most natural-sounding signature and provides the closest reproduction of how a track was recorded and produced. Due to their accurate sound reproduction, flat sound signature headphones are preferred by Music professionals, Sound Engineers and used in professional studios for mixing and mastering music tracks and are also loved by audiophiles for immersive listening sessions. You can listen to Classical, Rock, Jazz, Blues, Folk & possibly every genre in music.

Ideal for Audiophiles

These headphones are designed for discerning music lovers. If you are someone who cares about audio quality "deeply," you'll want a pair of headphones like these.

You can expect them to present a refined listening experience. The audio quality exhibited by these headphones is a beautiful mix of musicality, technical brilliance and high precision.

These headphones deliver a spacious and open soundstage with utmost clarity and detail. Delve into pure sonic bliss with these headphones!

For Studio & Professionals

As the name implies, anything branded as studio headphones is designed especially for a studio setting with a particular focus on accuracy and transparency for monitoring and mixing.

These headphones present an accurate image of your music than ordinary headphones, allowing you to hear every nuance and aspect of your music. Therefore, having a good set of studio headphones is just as important as any other gear in your studio.

These headphones provide a fresh perspective to that mix you’ve spent hours mastering and recording, essentially giving you another set of ears.

Needs Amplification

Headphones and IEMs require a certain level of power to sound their best and work at their full potential. When your headphones or IEMs are underpowered, they can sound thin or muffled.

Amplifiers are required to provide adequate power to your headphone or IEMs to perform at their best. Simply put, amplifiers allow a weak audio signal to be boosted to a powerful one.

To put it into perspective, devices such as your phones and laptops come with an amplifier, but they offer very limited output power. This output may not be sufficient to power headphones and IEMs to shine at their best. This is where a dedicated amplifier is required to deliver adequate power to hear your music in all its glory.

Closed-Back Design

Headphones with a Closed-Back design are completely sealed around the ear cup, allowing the sound to travel directly into your ears. This means that closed-back headphones block out outside noise, giving much better isolation, and minimising sound leakage to those around you.

Replaceable Cables

A pair of headphones with a replaceable cable has many benefits, and one of them is if the connecting cable has a problem, it doesn’t mean that you have to buy a new one. If the connecting cable gets pulled or damaged, you can replace it and keep using your good-old headphones or IEMs. This way, your headphones will be protected and will last longer. With the advancements in cable manufacturing, you now get a variety of replacement cables with various termination options, lengths and quality.

The M40x has the most distinguished sound separation in the M-Series lineup of Audio-Technica, making them optimal for music creation. They don’t have a coloured bass response as the M50x, allowing them to be used in various professional scenarios. They are stellar when it comes to audio quality and price-to-performance ratio.

Fantastic sound ; fragile design

I had first decided to buy the athm50x. But i saw reviews saying the m40 s we're flatter sounding. Hence i bought it via headphone zone. The packaging was excellent!! The headphone performs well no matter what you throw at it. Pink floyd sounded heavenly in these headphones. Accurate sound reproduction. But i gave this a four star because of its build quality. Its just such a flimsy design and its prone to breakage. Removing the headphones with one hand is a big no no!! The comfort is not the best but good.
In short if you want to sacrifice portablity and comfort a little for great sound, hands down the best headphone in this price range. Audiophiles.. this one's for you guys :).

Totally worth it.

It's amazing to see how good these headphones are. Tight bass, clear flat sound.
Just wished they included a 1.2m cable or at least they provided a way to purchase those.

Great piece of art

I am no studio person or a mixer or a DJ and far away from all technicalities. I am just a general everyday listener who knows what I want from my sound. I like to experiment with my sound and after listening to skull cracking bass from the Sony XBs for a few years I shifted to Sennheiser and then Phillips which makes decent audio equipment. But every time I would watch a review of any headphone, this guy popped up in my search on web and streaming sites, so I decided to give it a go.

Yes these are flat sounding and its a real joy to listen to them!!! I came from Sennheiser HD429 so the upgrade was pleasant and sound stage wider in comparison. If you are upgrading you will surely notice more meat in your sound. The bass response is tight and ample of it but if you are looking for a bass extension even after the bass beat is over on the track then this should not meet it. Highs are really crisp and if you are coming from warm sounding phones then they may hurt you (depending on ear sensitivity). Vocals get an equal opportunity to perform but are not overly done (I like shining vocals, coz I use my phones for movies mostly - So dialogues). In short, YOU GET WHATEVER IS THERE ON THE TRACK, TO ITS FULL CAPACITY. NOTHING EXTRA ON LOW OR HIGH.
So if you want to listen to what the recording artist put on track then this one is for you. Look no further, just click "Buy Now". Hope it helps.

No more headphone search

I bought M40x in HPZ for 8999 may be higher cost. But worth it.
Sound quality is crisp and clear, it puts an end to my headphone search and made no use of my existing headphones and earphones.
It will showcase the bad quality of songs clearly and the same if you listen to FLAC or Apple music you will love it. Even prime music is not good for M40x, and plug it to iPhone or Samsung it will take u to different word. Tried with Sony AV receiver and it was loud and clear.
One word about HPZ is "BEST"

Completely satisfied with both product and service.

Slightly lacking comfort

Not much of an enthusiast and these are my first pair. The audio seems great but the comfort can be lacking. I feel the burden between 30 to 40 minutes max.
