A part of Aune Audio The Aune Audio X5 series, the Aune Audio X5s is a third-generation edition featuring a Freescale 600M processor, a hardware decoding system and the third generation FPGA asynchronous technology. The Aune Audio X5s is a multi-functional digital music player/ transport which is designed to deliver high-quality sound. It supports PCM and DSD hardware decoding of up to 384k/DSD256 and CUE playback.

The Aune Audio X5s features indigenously developed FPGA digital output and when paired with DACs and headphone amplifiers to build a music player system that supports DSD128 and 32bit/384k without a PC. It supports ultra-low jitter digital signals as low as 237.6 ps. The Aune Audio X5s sports an underlying system which took 6 years to develop. It is designed to deliver high-res authentic sound.

The X Series has consistently outdone its previous editions and the latest Aune Audio X5s features a powerful 600MHz processor that pushes the performance of X5s to the next level. It boots up faster and the response time is better than it was ever before. Overall the latest addition to the X5 series not only elevates your music listening experience but also delivers high-end performance.

The 6th Anniversary Bluetooth edition of Aune Audio X5s has a bunch of cool features including the compatibility with master-tape-level music file playback, high-definition Bluetooth receiving and Bluetooth launch. You can play music on X5s 6th anniversary Bluetooth edition using your smartphone and convert it into a digital transport with Bluetooth asynchronous FPGA technology. The X5s has outputs of AES, coaxial, optical and line out.

Aune Audio’s Superb Digital Audio Transport

Till 21st of Aug 2020, I had extremely high regards for my Marantz CD player.
Poor fellow lost it that evening, to Aune Audio - X5s ( Anniversary Edition )!

I have been enjoying the same CD rips ( and Hi Res tracks purchased from HDTracks ) on my AK70. The extra detail and clarity were, in my opinion, thanks to the close proximity and intimate listening on quality Headphones.

X5s corrected that misconception too!
My Audiolab 6000A + Dali speakers hit a great new High with the X5s’ DAC playing the same files via its SD Card Drive.

What changed?
Plethora of “new” instruments and effects seem to have joined the existing music!
The Bass is now taut and controlled exactly as it should be.
Imaging has great stability with each instrument distinctly “placed” in the soundstage.
Considerable expansion in soundstage width and FOR the 1st Time, I am able to experience “Depth” in most of the well recorded tracks. With Hi Res download, like Dave Brubeck Quartet’s Take Five, its mesmerising to say the least.

X5s has literally infused new life into my large music collection.

I have a few gripes though.
The file menu system is quite pathetic, with no clear logic to the arrangement of files / folders.

The DAC is so blood good, but one cannot use it for other Digital Inputs ( No inputs in fact ), apart from the SD card / USB drive. That's very very mean!

Finally, the male-vocals seem a bit weak, which I’m hoping would get corrected post the break-in period. With female vocals, this rips though.

Overall, one of the best investment I’ve made on a Hi Fi component, till date.
