I'm not an audiophile, but I previously used a pair M50xs. Those have no mic and I needed something for a desktop setup. There are external ones available but I didn't want to add to the cable mess. iTunes/Apple music, YouTube and video games are my primary source of audio content and these headphones are (probably overkill, but) more than good enough for them. I'd say I like the bass better on these compared to the M50xs. Mic is great, which is convenient for calls. These are closed-back, which does result in more sweat, and its is made worse by the fact that the ear cushions will absorb it (and smell!). Not sure about the longevity in that aspect, but you can probably swap them out later. Overall a good, albeit expensive package. If you're looking at gaming then consider the Audeze mobius which are in the same price range but offer wireless (and a removable mic).
I am very happy with the headset.
Two points of minor irritation: (1) it clamps the head a little too firmly for my taste if kept on for an extended period, as my use requires (I hope it will loosen up with time) and (2) it sounds just a bit too bright (harsh) to me (specially when driven by a phone or tablet though it seems to work better when hooked up to the headphone output of an amp, I do not have a headphone amp - the regular amp headphone outlet is fine for me).
For my intended primary use for calls it is exceptional and for music it is pretty good. I would suggest that it is best used for music with an amp - but I am not sure if that is only to my ears.
The Beyerdynamic Headset has good build quality, even though it is plain. Good sound quality as well. It is comfortable and it gets the job done. As is usual, an aux converter for amps is also present.
I cannot comment on the mike quality, because Beyerdynamic has a strange aux input for PCs. I have not used it on my phone as I have my Mezeaudio classics for that.
The direction of aux input is such that the mike does not register, online, I have read that you have to use great pressure to make it "click". Which will result in the mike coming on. I did use great pressure, but it did not happen. I did not want to use more pressure, as I was fearful that it could've been damaged.
Additionally, perhaps due to the pandemic, Beyerdynamic has not got back to my request for support. I hope they do soon, otherwise I will send in a fresh request.
If I did not have a webcam, I would not be able to do my essential work. My studies or my entertainment. I already spent money again, as the mezeaudio did not have a built in mike, nor did it strangely not have external volume control unfortunately. I assumed that a gaming headset with its inbuilt mike would suit my needs perfectly. I did not go with the Razer Headset as it seemed that they had many extra things, which I would've found difficult to carry with me. But seeing it as it is, with Razer's easy to use design and removable foam earcups (unlike Beyerdynamic), which you can wash the dirt and dust away from (as India is a very dusty country), this makes the job much easier and it makes having a simple design very important. Beyer is simple, but it's not straightforward, the odd angle of attack of its aux cable leaves the mike unuseable, and its slow support response makes redressal difficult.
I am down over 50000 rupees and I am nowhere closer to a perfect headset solution. I should've just stuck with my logitech headset (but its earcups were flaking off) or bought the Razer headset. It is best to stick with tried and tested brands, even if they cause some initial inconvenience. I would rate this headset lower based upon my personal experience, but that would be unfair, I will base it off of its own merit. Having said that, I will never buy Logitech, Beyerdynamic or Mezeaudio ever again, and no matter how inconvenient and strange Razer might be, I will only buy from them later (be sure to only buy their aux models, and never their USB models).
Go buy Razer for their simplicity, straightforwardness of design, durability and versatility, do not bother with other headset brands, unless you are a longtime audiophile and you know how to tolerate their idiosyncratic design choices and troubleshoot their physical defects or quirks.
I hope that you can fix these issues in your next product refresh. But until then, but Razer.
Delivery was fast even in lockdown period restrictions.
Very disappointed unboxing experience. Both main packaging box and Beyerdynamic's headphone box were compressed along the side of the lid of the headphone box causing the lid to tear at its edge and the seal to unglue partially. Damage to headphone box could have been avoided, but was not because no material was kept between two sides of headphone box and the main packaging box to absorb the shock.
Beyerdynamic's headphone box is very dull and far from the quality that can be used for the so called "Premium Gaming Headset". Cheaper Sennheiser HD599 has far better box. But, provided hard case, though bulky stores headphone easily and safely.
The headphone and accessories were in good condition.
I am not reviewing the headphone in details. I mostly agree with its remarkable review at headphone.guru titled "BEYERDYNAMIC MMX300 2ND GEN: SERIOUS GAMING MEETS SERIOUS AUDIO PERFORMANCE" which can be found at the link https://headphone.guru/beyerdynamic-mmx300-2nd-gen-serious-gaming-meets-serious-audio-performance/
As per my experience, this headphone gives very good music listening experience along almost all genres and excellent movie watching experience apart from being a good gaming headset. Mostly its slightly V-shaped sound signature doesn't affect those experiences.
Headphone is just shy of becoming uncomfortable with good stability on the head.
Music play/pause or skip forward/backward button in both cables doesn't function on my Windows 10 PC.
All-in-all this is a good purchase. But, sadly it keeps me reminding that I ignored the likes of Sony 1000XM3, just launched XM4 and Bose QC 35 II for it and questioning myself whether it was worth.🤔😏
