Technically great but lacking the fun facor

A beautifully crafted piece of aluminium that actually needs to be held in your hands to appreciate its full beauty. The CNC finished earpieces look really classy and upmarket. The cables are again a notch above its competitors in terms of delivering sound quality and physical appearance.

The Andromeda's fit is really good and most people would find them to be perfect. Meant to be worn around the ear like the Shures, the seal and noise isolation are just apt.
When I first listened to them I was really taken aback by the clarity of the vocals and how forward sounding the mids were. As I own a pair of Shure Se846, my immediate impressions were of more clarity in the mids and the highs. However, I found the soundstage to be quite ordinary and more in a horizontal (X-Y) direction than the Shure Se846's cocoon like (X-Y-Z) encompassing soundstage and imaging. Further, due to the sensitive and bright nature of the Andromeda, I had to keep decreasing the volume on my Astell & Kern AK70 source. Definitely, the Andromeda is brighter than anything I've heard but nevertheless it does have a good bass presence but nothing like the subwoofer like oomph of the Se846. I found the Andromeda very revealing and to be honest quite irritating after long hours of listening. This was mainly due to the bright nature which again I personally loathe. In a nutshell, there is nothing wrong with the Andromeda but for me that extra warmth and an encompassing soundstage of the Se846 were lacking and also I felt that there was some sibilance which i really hate. For genres such as acoustic, classical, jazz and country, these iems might be just perfect but bassheads and especially folks who are into rock and roll might be left quite disappointed. All in all, they are great but they just lack that fun factor of the JH Audio Roxanne or the Shure Se846.
