Fiio X1 II:
To start with I want to let the reader know the reader that I have used the FiiO X1 in past. Impressed with it’s performance I recently upgraded to X1 II through the nicely implemented trade-up program of headphonzone.in. It must be clear to you by now that I am an audiophile on budget so, my choice of gadgets generally revolves around the sweet spot set by X1 for a DAP, Q1 for an AMP, AT M50x for Headphones, RHA S500 to A-Jays five for earphones and Samsung level U for Wireless Earphones (and I own them all ;)).
Source (Music files):
A great portion of my 1000+ songs library is made up of 320 Kbps MP3 files sourced through purchasing individuals songs on Wynk. As Hindi and English songs share almost equal numbers in my library, and it is not possible to find Hindi songs in lossless formats. Another good portion of my library is flacs @ 24–96 which are mostly, live performances of my favorite tunes. Mixtapes from Headphonezone compose a small chunk of it. And lastly, a few albums in WAV and WMA.
Now, coming to X1 II again;
I’ve paired the X1 II with RHA S500, A-Jays Five, Level U and AT M50x one by one just to compare the audio imaging of the player with the one of my older X1. I loved the sound out of the original X1 and in the second generation all the good things are passed over with a more flat response than the original X1 which is good, as it helps the listener in listening what the musician originally wanted to. The frequency response of the second iteration of X1 sounds a little shifted towards the higher side of the frequency spectrum and for the good as it sounds more natural (a little harsh highs in RHA S500 though), while retaining enough emphasis on the lower frequencies. It is having ample amount of power to drive all the accessories that I stated above at respectable volume levels.
So, FiiO has done a great job here!
Build Quality and Aesthetics:

FiiO - X1 (2nd Gen)
Almost everyone buying this music player is looking for an alternative to smartphones for listening to music,first of all let me describe who this product is for and not for,if you really like listening to music for hours with headphones and earphones that you have invested a lot of money buying and realizing that soundquality is not satisfying through your phone.For those people this is exactly what you are looking for,sound quality is on another league compared to those iphones and samsungs,this is possible because of dedicated DAC(digital to analog chip) built into the player,it has a PM5422 which is upgraded from the chip in the first generation Fiio DAP which can decode 192hz 24 bit files.In my experience this fiio x1 has been incredible value i own highend headphones ,which i mainly use it with my PC with separate DAC and amplifier to their full potential but when i switch to my one plus one all these HiFi headphones sound like there is a piece of wool in front meaning compressed and there is a loss in detail.Before i bought the X1 i was afraid all those reviews on google are all audiophile talk but once i heard them i knew it was worth every rupee. Sound can be described as detailed with clear treble,clean mids and tight bass,.Finally let me get into who this DAP is not for,if you don't own a good headphone buying this doesn't make any sense,by good i doesn't mean skull candy or those skull crushing bass heavy cans out there.If you felt like there is something missing when listening to music on your smartphone then maybe this may be what you may want to check out.
It's not without it's fault though,you have to buy a micro SD card because the player doesn't come with any storage.I recommend atleast a 64 gb one if you are into music like i am,another issue is the display feels very sharp which makes the cover pic of music look weird.But even with the flaws it is fantastic value and right now there is no other DAP at this price that can give similar value.
Very much happy with the product. Using it with Audio Technica ATH-M50X and it sounds really awesome. It really drives its 45 mm drivers with full power and yeah, its packs a great punch for such a small device. Battery also lasts really long. FW 1.2 brings added (and more accurate) response to touch wheel. All in all a great product. A must have for audiophiles.
