Ali Pardiwala, NDTV
"The FiiO X3 (Second Generation) is another victory from the Chinese company that never fails to impress us. It isn't quite the budget champion that the X1 is, nor does it have the reference grade performance that the X5 provides. But is a solid mid-range product that keeps FiiO's flag flying high."

Vinith Paramel
"The sound is more bright and the instrument separation is just amazing. Definitely, the FiiO X3 2nd gen is a worthy upgrade, and if anyone wants a dedicated hi-res music player and has the budget of ~15k then this is definitely the best choice hands down."

"With high-res audio files, everything good about the X3 became even better. The soundstage became wider and the bass had greater punch but without obscuring the mids and highs."

"The X3 Second Generation will be available for $199 and what you get in return is a lot. Is it a giant killer? No it isn’t really but the quality it delivers for the price is impressive. but the X3 just has a more qualitative finish."

"The X3II is amazing. It drove high impedance headphones like the T90 and HD650 well, has a very low noise floor with IEMs, sounds superb. With the advancements in sound quality, I don’t see a competitor in its price range."

Outstanding product for the price

X3 2ND GEN is truly a top notch product with amazing sound clarity. No wonder its highly rated in head-fi.org as well. I've head players with many Dacs but this one really shines. Thanks headphozone for delivering the product in excellent and brand new condition.

Worth the money. Premium build with a minor if not irritating hiccup

I really quite didn't understand the difference when I paired it with my Sennheiser CX 275s headphones. But that was not the case with my V-Moda LP2's. All the details were being heard and I can see that investing in such a device rather than depend on a phone was definitely worth it.
A hiccup I experienced during setup was that the device did not support stand inline remotes on either of the previously mentioned headphones. Volume control I can understand, but at the very least they could have provided the play/pause functionality.

Sound quality is excellent!

Build quality is not so great. Also design wise it is not that appealing. But, yes, it did meet up with my expectation considering the price of the product. Overall look and feel of the product is average. They have provided a good silicone case however.

Headphone out:
It is slightly leaning towards warmer side, having detailed bass, clear mids and crispy highs, and is providing a very good soundstage with nice imaging and also very good instrument separation. You can pin point the instruments clearly if you are using a good pair of headphones. Can be easily used without a headphone amp.It is easily powering up my headphones with 44 Ohm impedance and I did not notice any hiss on playback. The battery back up is excellent. Also having a 10 band equalizer with good response. The EQ will not work with DSD file formats anyway. During DSD playback there was a slight disturbance and I did inform it to FiiO and I did sent the same track and they were also experiencing the same..hopefully they could come up with a firmware upgrade to correct it. Except that it is rendering great performance.

Line out
Line out is also very nice with a very clear well detailed output. Sound quality is excellent with lineout and can even be used as a source for the home theatre with a good amplifier.

Design build and user interface - 2.8/5

sound quality and performance - 4.7/5

Value for money - 4/5

Must buy for a audiophile.

The design of the product is pretty amazing. It's sleek sturdy with a pretty impressive build quality. The wheel is pretty smooth and has a good response to it.
The sound is out of the world. I have used it with my audiotechnica m50x and I must say that the mids lows are pretty straight.
