KZ - ZS10

I'll start out by addressing a very important point: KZ's goal is to bring you something that's worth around 5-6 times more for under Rs. 4000. Some issues like Quality Control are to be expected. For reference, the earphones I've owned (and am comparing these to) are the 1More Dual Drivers, 1More Triple Driver BT.

Build Quality:

For these IEMs, build quality is NOT their strongest aspect. The build quality is rather basic (you really can't expect anything more) but KZ was nice enough to continue their tradition of providing detachable cables to prolong the life of these buds (which 1More desperately needs). The cable is robust, however, the connector is unusually large.

Comfort:

Straight out of the box, comfort is something to be desired with these IEMs. I'm slightly disappointed to say that when compared to 1More in terms of raw comfort, these fall short for me. However, comfort is something extremely subjective (I have large ears) so I won't let it affect my rating. A suggestion I have for potential buyers is to buy a pair of memory foam tips to use with these IEMs.

Sound Quality:

This is where the earphones truly shine. With their five drivers (1DD+4BA), these buds manage to have their crisp accuracy throughout the sonic range. Bass is nice and controlled (although there are some minor ranges where it tends to get a bit stronger than usual). Mids are extremely crisp and readily present and extremely joyful to listen to. Treble, however, isn't the finest thing I've heard. There are some spikes which are at times ear-piercing. In the end, these IEMs are far better than ones that cost twice as much in terms of sound quality and will certainly please those looking for excellent sound quality for far less an amount than what competitors demand.

Verdict:

If you just want your sound quality, just buy them before you blink. However, if comfort and build quality are major deciding factors for you, you might want to look at other options.

The sound on the ZS10 that i picked up from headphone zone is fantastic. It has great depth and breadth of sound and with its many drivers provides high quality sound for a very reasonable price

I got KZ-ZS 10 Pro instead of this. I was really happy till I was using it in my Fiio but when I tried with my Ibasso DC04 with adaptor. I couldn't hear any vocals. Guess some balancing issues.

Sound very natural but a little bit very on the bass side.

Introduction:

It has been a good long 5 years since I have used an IEM. Back then I was juggling between my preferred Philips SHE 3590 (costed around 399 rupees) and MI Piston 3 (costed around 999 rupees) and I remember both of them to be excellent even without considering their price since they sounded like heaven when compared to the unimpressive cx 300 II from Sennheiser which I had owned earlier. I had then migrated to over the ear headphones and currently using Samson SR 850 at home and Audio Technica ATH M50x BT for travel, office and other needs. It has been quite a while so I thought why not try out a couple of IEMs and chose Knowledge Zenith ZS 10 for it's sheer hardware capabilities.

Build Quality & Fit:

The build quality is just about alright. I am just little skeptical about the cable quality in the long run but they are user replaceable. These earphones are to be worn around the ears and it took me sometime to get the right fit, but once it fit it stayed and I could use it for hours without any discomfort.

Sound Quality:

It would be unfair to compare these with my personal favorite Samson SR 850 since they are semi open in nature and have a lot of advantages and a few disadvantages just due to the way they are designed. In terms of sound quality on my first listen when connecting directly to LG G8x with quad dac on, I felt these are bass monsters with just about adequate highs and mids. After using them for a while, the bass though a little over powering for me was not as dominating as before and with the highs now feeling a little more enriched, it has gotten closer to the V shape sound that I prefer personally. These are very easy to drive, LG G8x despite it's sonic capabilities for a mobile phone is just about averagely loud source and these earphones get sufficiently loud for me at 36 out of 75 volume levels (much less than 50%). The instrument separation is really good for an IEM of this price, only concern I have is sometimes I feel certain instrument sound is ever so slightly out of sync (it might be quite possible that I am imagining it, it is not something to an extent of bothering me and also it may improve upon using a better source).

Conclusion:

These earphones are a decent package for those who want fun sound with enriched bass and treble. I am not sure how it compares with renowned bass monsters like Sony's XB and JVC 's XX series, to my ears these are having a lot of bass. The advantage of having so many drivers are clearly visible in the instrument separation offered by these. For the price KZ ZS10 have an awesome hardware which is easy to drive and may still improve significantly with a good external DAC.

Killer IEM's for stage, vocals sound great & its all for a great price. I just lost a pair at the Mumbai airport & decided to buy em again.
