Decent noise cancellation, odd 2 second lag, and terrible microphone

I've had my share of noise cancelling earbuds. The Bose QC20 is unchallenged king of the hill. The QC30 is its less effective successor. At the budget end, the Phiaton BT 100 NC is very good. Not Bose league, but good enough to be a daily driver. The Plantronics Backbeat Go 410 now occupies space next to it. It has decent noise cancelling that makes the world a bit more tolerable, but unfortunately that is where the good things end.

The noise cancellation offers two levels: effective and useless, albeit branded "high" and "low". At high NC there is a very clear hum that you will hopefully learn to ignore.

The wires are too long and dangle in front of you. Putting your coffee cup in the sink? Watch out or the earbuds will take a sly dip in sink water. I had to shorten mine by making loops with a rubber band. Now the microphone rustles against my shirt collar.

Do you take phone calls? You may be the shy type, but your Swiggy delivery executive insists on calling to say "I'm standing in front of your door". Now you're going to have a lot of "what?" exclamations to add to the call, assuming you had anything to say beyond making rustling shirt sounds.

And then there's playback. Your EQ options are "bright", meaning shrill, and "bass", meaning muffled. Only losers want balanced wholesome audio. And for good measure, the first two seconds of everything gets cut off. For what joy? Plantronics evidently didn't think this was a deal breaker before putting this product in the market. You may think otherwise.

The Ultimate game changer in this segment

Better than Bose in all scenarios without any 2nd thought. Bose is just hype as I tested for AptX HD, AAC etc...And unnecessarily costly, impacts eardrum too with digitized sound.
Sony remains different due to its LDAC and acoustic amplitude while Plantronics protects ears on the other hand.

Review - BackBeat GO 410

This is a very good product but definitely pricey.

The noice cancellation works well and the headphone sounds very good overall.

There is weird 2 sec lag at the start. Not sure why. Hope this will be taken care in future updates.

Overall very happy with the product.

Reasonable sound quality and isolation

Nothing much to write home about. As others have said, audiophiles will not like this unit as there are very few options to tweak the sound. Either it's too sharp or its heavy bass. NC is ok but the earpods do not fit well and give weak isolation, may need the Bose earfins to keep them stable during a run. Mic unit is heavy and keeps dangling. Mic quality is just OK for calls, single mic and not directional, need to hold it close to the mouth for a proper conversation, bad positioning as others have said. No IP rating but it says on the box it's sweat resistant... Have to wait and watch. Good quality, reasonable NC and sound. Not a value for money product. Another big big disappointment is that ANC does not work in the airplane with the cord what a missed opportunity to take on Bose. PLT hope you are listening that is very bad design to tie Bluetooth and ANC on the same switch. 2 seconds lag is true too as others have said.

Excellent noise cancellation earphones

I wished something like these earphones to be usable for office purposes and give me noise cancelation.. it's been good on both counts plus saving battery through magnets..
