Schitt took what it learned while making their high-end Mjolnir to significantly improve the Asgard 2’s performance. A high-voltage, cascaded JFET gain stage feeds a high-current Class-A MOSFET output section. With this, you get a sound that's highly resolved, grainless, fast and micro-dynamically responsive. The bass is well-controlled but not fat or maximally profound.
The Asgard 2 offers two gain settings. The low-gain mode is great for high-sensitivity IEMs, while the high-gain mode is perfect for most other headphones, up to and including many orthodynamics. The 80V rails on the gain stage allow a reduction in distortion while retaining the Asgard’s no-overall-feedback design in high-gain mode. In addition, you can connect the preamp outputs to powered speakers, for a complete desktop system.

I purchased HE560 headphone and played it with chord mojo. But, i find difficult to drive and sound gets cracking at high volume. After doing research on internet i purchased schiit asgard 2. It has lots of current to drive this power hungry headphone. I take output from chord mojo to make music more clear and refined. Now a am satisfied with my purchase.
Thankyou Headphone zone.
I am reviewing after listening to it thoroughly for two weeks.
This is my first headphone amp purchased based on reviews and faith in Schiit as I have BIFROST DAC to which it is coupled now. This combo is powering two VFM headphones: Sennheiser HD598SE and Audio Technica ATH M50X. Till now these were powered by Meridian Explorer DAC cum headphone amp.
Now I can understand that Meridian Explorer DAC has a warm sound signature. Since already HD598SE is warm, it became very laid back and bass(both sub-bass and midbass) and soundstage were absent.
Of course, many won't agree that HD598SE has bass but after paired with this combo, it is performing on the whole different level with perfect sound stage and detailed midbass. In fact, before this arrival, I wanted to sell the HD598SE. I am very much satisfied with the Asgard 2.
Next level headphones are in due (bitten by upgrade bug now)
On the side note: Meridian Explorer with piercing Audio Technica ATH M50X is the perfect combo at the given price may be with less resolving detail.
The bottom line: It has a neutral sound signature and wide sound stage. My long-standing stereo setup consists of Marantz 8004 with wharf9.5 is ready for sale.
Very happy with the delivery time (within 48 hrs) and packing. Was very simple connecting Asgard 2 and Bifrost using USB and RCA PYST cables to a Windows 10 Laptop. Native drivers got installed automatically thereby enabling to play 24-192 audio. My only audio equipment since the last 14 months have been a Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd Gen connected to a Chord Mojo which I have come to love and enjoy all through. Post reading up a lot for want for a different sound signature, I am currently using Asgard 2+Bifrost with another Beyerdynamic Oldie DT 770 Pro 250 Ohms. While it might sound cliched, the Bifrost and Asgard 2 combo delivers a very clean sound and complements the DT 770s. In the track What a shame by Patricia Barber (Album Cafe Blue), one can distinctly hear the clash of the cymbals delicate and yet so clear. Hoping to enjoy this new setup for a couple of years. The singular aspect which I am left a bit wanting is the sound stage when compared with the Chord Mojo, thought not by much, but still. Thank you Headphone Zone (For 5 minutes when I held the box containing Asgard 2, i was elated as the box had Valhalla written on it hoping it was a lucky mistake on your end....tongue in cheek :)).
