To start off, amazing work HeadPhoneZone getting this to India. I have known several folks, including myself who had to order this from US directly, having to pay for international shipping and customs. There's no dearth of good speakers available in Indian market and audio players. But DAC's, especially within 12k (~$200) are rare.
Had auditioned lots of DAC's in range around $300 before buying this (and really took a leap of faith, just hoped it will help me save money while giving a good upgrade). And holy Schiit it did sound as good as the more expensive options you get here.
Been using this for two years now, and a few things you should know about -
If you use laptop/Rapsberry Pi as music source, this is a must have. The difference is simply brilliant. You will soon notice the difference in sound with this. Sound stage is much better, instruments sound more natural (like what you experience during live concerts) and of course, the sound is much more balanced and distortion free.
In other words, if your source is electronic, an external DAC is a must have and this one is probably the best you will find within 20k in India. If you want portability as well, go for Fulla Schiit (Modi and Fulla use similar DAC chips so I think they should be similar in sound signature) which is more portable, but smaller form factor may affect clarity.
First off, i would like to thank Raghav and his team for the excellent customer service they offered, really top class . Its hard to believe there are such enthusiastic folks around who deliver on their promise. Thank you for fulfilling this order in less than 24 hours !
Moving on to the Modi-2, i really wanted to upgrade my listening sessions using a DAC and like many when you search on the web for suggestions you are hit with data that makes it even difficult to decide. After looking around and a few days of research i narrowed down on the Cambridge Audio DAC and Schiit Modi 2. When i auditioned both of these the Modi 2 blew the hat off the more expensive Cambridge DAC. At half the cost it was surely more bang for the buck. Thanks to Headphone Zone for making this awesome equipment available for purchase in India. Without a doubt this has been a very worthy upgrade to my sound-stage the sound is more tight and the nuanced. Thank You Headphone Zone to taking me another step closer to Audio Nirvana. Cheers !
I was looking to replace my external DAC after my ASUS xonar U7 died due to windows updates and it not being recognised as a device. Zeroed in on this and it some "seriously good schiit" . Excellent build, clean interface and easy to use , simply plug an play . You can enjoy great sound from your comp right out of the box once you plug it in. Sound is fuller, more detailed and lets you hear what you've been lacking .
