In case you receive the Cayin - RU7 with a manufacturing defect, please raise a return request within 7 days of delivery.

However, if you receive an incorrect / damaged / different product or one with missing accessories, please raise a return request within 24 hours of delivery. In case you receive a product with a missing, incorrect, or faulty accessory, you will be given a replacement accessory instead of the entire product.

Please make sure that the product is in the original packaging with all the accessories it came with. We'll also need an unboxing video and images of the parcel to investigate about the discrepancy. One such product that was well ahead of its time, the RU6, now gets an upgrade in the form of RU7. It is a USB-powered ultra-portable 1-Bit Resistive Ladder DAC and amplifier.

Discrete 1-Bit DAC With Fully Balanced Resistor Networks

Cayin designed a micro-miniaturized 1-Bit DAC circuit from discrete components to convert digital signal to analogue signal through a fully differentiated 4-ch DAC architecture. A resistor network composed of 128 pieces (4 x 32) of high-precision thin film resistors makes up the 1-Bit DAC circuit. Cayin's well-liked N7 Digital Audio Player has the same design architecture. After going through a 3-level active LPF, the resistor network's output will be changed to a single-ended signal for volume adjustment.

Its Audio Bridge will receive various audio formats and undergo highly accurate signal amplification. Before being fed to the discrete 1-Bit DAC circuit, all-digital audio signals are converted to the specified DSD format (DSD64, DSD128 or DSD256).

High Power Dual Parallel Amplifiers

Cayin has designed the amplification circuitry with dual amplifiers in parallel, providing 4-CH high power Balanced driven output. The second phone amplifier is a parallel unity gain inverting phase amplifier. You get an impressive upgrade in phone output power with 3.5mm SE, 160mW @32 Ohms, 4.4mm BAL, 400mW @32 Ohms.

Shared Line-Out Functionality

The shared line-out function will configure the 3.5mm or 4.4mm phone output into fixed voltage output (bypassing volume control): 3.5mm SE, 160mW @32 Ohms, 4.4mm BAL, 400mW @32 Ohms. The line out voltage is carefully selected to retain as much detail and dynamic of the 1-Bit DAC with minimum noise and distortion. This functionality enables you to connect the RU7 to a portable/desktop amplifier or home audio system and use it as a miniature 1-Bit DAC.

Discrete Volume Control For Precise Adjustment

Discrete Resistor Network DAC circuit is very demanding on incoming data integrity Cayin recommends keeping the digital volume of mobile phones at maximum output to safeguard the quality of the digital audio signal. Cayin has developed its discrete resistor network volume control with 100 steps volume control. This design is done through 3 segments of resistors and switching relays, offering precise control over a volume range, satisfying even the need of the most sensitive IEM users. The segment ranges from Segment 1: 1-49, Segment 2: 50-79, and Segment 3: 80-100.

Dual 6-Layer PCBs Minimise Interference

RU7's circuitry is split into dual 6-layer PCB, with digital and analogue circuits installed in separate boards to minimise interference. This design architecture safeguards signal integrity, making sure the noise from the reference clock and DSP will not bleed into the amplification circuit.

Compatible with Common Platforms & Devices

A discrete resistor network is a low-power DAC circuit when compared to other highly integrated DAC chipsets, minimises power drain from a mobile source. Bespoke Protective Case

The RU7 comes with a handmade magnetic leather case made of soft leather. A tight-fitting protective cutout specifically made for RU7 provides an elegant presentation. Additionally, two spherical metal plates with adhesive tape pads are included in the package.

The additional balanced output power, the technical capability, and several All-To-DSD modes are just some of the key features that elevate and differentiate the RU7 from its peers and the competition.
The Cayin RU7 has a tuning which is more to the neutral side, but with its full body and powerful, controlled bass impact, it is a very musical and engaging DAC/AMP dongle. Cayin has certainly set the bar very high.
With a smooth, rich and musical tonality, RU7 is also the most versatile dongle I've used with the selection of high-end IEMs in my collection. Highly recommended.
With these additional features, extra power, and excellent sound quality, a dongle like RU7 can be a real competitor to most of the entry level and some mid-fi level DAPs.
Having listened to at least 40 with a wide range of IEMs and headphones over the past 4 years, the Cayin RU7 makes a very strong case for itself and especially at its asking price.
Cayin’s RU7 continues the company’s hot streak of breaking new ground in DAC design for the dongle format, the all-new 1-bit DAC in the RU7 is even more impressive than the R2R DAC in its predecessor.

Great organic tonality and the soundstage plus the superb LO implementation

On its own, it has a terrific tonality with a wide soundstage and precise imaging. Much more resolving and clear than the RU6. Tonality is mostly the same. Technicalities are better than RU6. Now, coming to the most impressive part is the Line-out feature. I paired with the source (Tempotec V6 - Bit perfect) and Topping NX7 Amp and there is no looking back. Brilliant soundstage with great directional accuracy and paired with Aful Performer 8, it's musical bliss. P8 has an intimate/immersive soundstage which has widened with this pairing. I highly recommend RU7 just for the LO. Rest is a bonus.

Great instrument seperation

I was using fiio ka3 before and compare to that the ru7 sounds more natural and soundstage got little bigger, not a huge difference but the huge difference is in how ru7 seperate micro details from rest of the music.
I'm using moondrop variations with ru7 and compare to fiio ka3, the sound is smoother but still more detailed and the seperation in music is so good with ru7 and bass also got little more withh more midbass as well.
More musical than fiio ka3 with bigger soundstage, more details and most importantly great instrument seperation.

Between average and good

Overall music quality has improved compared to existing combination of A55 walkman & wired connection with XM4. Have tried both with headfone in off and on condition with 4.4 mm balanced connection. Tried off condition to maintain the analogue nature of music. Not much difference from my previous gadgets. Tried in Dsd 128 and 256 both. I listen music mostly while driving in my car which has complete sony mobile ES setup of receiver, amp, 4 components and 1 sub. All connections in pure ofc. I know that we cant compared apple and oranges, but the satisfaction I get in my car, is unmatched. The level of highs, the mids the separation and depth of instruments is unbelievable. This new RU7 setup reaches 60 to 70% of my experience in my car. I think need to upgrade my headphones to reach true audiophile experience.

Game changer !

If you are new to this hobby and do not own any DAC / AMP, purchase it without experimenting with any other product in market. If you already have a collection of DAC /AMPs, purchase it as you will understand as to what you were missing so far. This is an absolute game changer for me as the improvement in audio quality is immediately apparent after using this product. I own Mojo -2 but would not have ever spent money on it if I had heard this beauty before. The only con is that it will drain your mobile phone battery and one reason for same is that you will be so immersed in music and do not want to stop listening !
