I have used a wide range of earbuds, from budget-friendly ₹800 Boat models to premium ₹27,000 Sony XM5s, but the Astell&Kern AK UW100MKII is by far the worst product I’ve ever put in my ears. Let me be clear: the sound quality is actually pretty good, and that’s not the issue. But what’s the point of good sound when the earbuds themselves are plagued with unbearable distortion, frequent disconnections, and a terrible multi-device connectivity experience?
The biggest frustration is that these earbuds randomly disconnect without any warning, which makes them highly unreliable. On top of that, the audio distortion is unbearable, occurring way too often and ruining any listening experience. The multi-device connectivity is another disaster—it lags, disconnects, and barely works as expected. If that wasn’t enough, the charging case is unnecessarily big and bulky, making it inconvenient to carry around.
I strongly suspect that Headphone Zone sold defective stock at a discount. I returned my first pair thinking I got a faulty unit, but even the replacement had the exact same issues. This isn’t just a bad product—it feels like a scam. Astell&Kern may boast about their 32-bit built-in DAC and premium sound technology, but what’s the use when the earbuds fail to function properly?
Honestly, if you’re considering buying these, please don’t waste your money. Even Oppo makes far superior earbuds, and I’d rather use an ₹800 Boat pair than deal with this overpriced disaster. At this point, I’m so frustrated that I’d rather smash them into pieces than go through the hassle of returning them again.

The buds are amazing. I cannot describe the little things I've noticed but unfortunately the buds are too big for my ears. The gestures don't work smoothly (low sensitivity; I've to really press them like keys to get them work). The double/triple touch don't work. Despite setting it to stop playing audio once I get it off my ear it does not. I'm disappointed i so wanted this.

Initially some hours of burn is needed atleast to get a slight change in performance. Changed buds for bass. It takes time to sounds better. But don't expect BASS, this is a single BA driver TWS. Except bass, it sounds good and sound stage also! My curiosity is to experience knowless BA sound. Thanks for HPZ, expecting some more upgraded TWS from A&k.

With most reviewers mentioning that the earpieces fall out of the ear, and the in-ear detection is unreliable coupled with a reviewer on Headphone Zone mentioning that open box items are not as good as brand new, set off doubts in my mind about my purchase.
The packaging itself contained all the original box packing, all eartips, literature etc except for the sealing tape. Whew.
My ear is medium sized and usually the eartips that come fitted as standard work superbly.
With the UW100, they just fell out. Fitted a size larger with the same result. My heart began to sink. Fitted the largest eartips, they just about held in place.
The in-ear detection began to act funny like the other reviewers have mentioned.
The in-ear sensor is on the inside surface next to the LED. If that comes within 2mm of any surface it detects the "ear" perfectly. If we position the earbuds slightly rotated, no part of the ear activates the sensor. But align the earbuds with the primary mic facing forward, and the "A" logo vertical everything starts working as it should.
Don't need to switch off "In-Ear detection"
I come from a DT770 Pro and AKG361BT in conjunction with iBassoDC05 and Jabra Elite 65t (mediocre) Audio Tecnica ATH SQ1TW TWS as reference.
The details on the UW100MKII is on the lines to that you hear on the DT770 and the AKG361.
The soundstage is wide and instrument separation is superb.
On "Another Day in Paradise", the low frequency tones before the drums kick can be distinctly identified as two different sources.
On Santana's "Bella" many peripheral percussion instruments can be heard discreetly and enjoyed.
On Bass Heavy tracks like "Money For Nothing", each individual snare drum strike is heard separately instead of as one continuous cacophony.
George Michael's voice on Careless Whispers doesn't sound sibilant like on other headphones
The saxophone on Candy Dulfer's "Lily Was Here" sounds sweeter than the other TWS.
The Audio Tecnica ATH SQ1TW is an enjoyable warm sound signature whereas the AK UW100MKII is a purist flat signature which can be tweaked via equaliser to give you the AT sound as well.
Hope I have cleared a few doubts in the minds of fence sitters.
All in all, a highly recommended TWS.

I really liked the sound quality of these earbuds. There are so good that I was continuously listening to music for almost 6 to 7 hours with these but I had to take short breaks in between each hour because as these earbuds are huge, they can get a bit painful. The other thing I'm still waiting for is the Android OS 14 update for the app of these earbuds. Fingers crossed. The touch controls have a bit of delay and are sometimes unreliable but I hope this might get fixed with some firmware updates. Apart from comfort issues and touch control problem, the sound quality is the best. People who want one of the best sound quality for less price should get these earbuds for sure. These are of a great value.

These were my first ones and I really loved the sound , Noice Cancellation but for there bulky size they were very fragile and I had send them for repairs several times . They didn't even last half a year . I especially liked the led blinker of the case which also started malfunctioning
Been using it on and off for a year. Mostly off. These have pairing issues and struggle to connect with iOS, even when they do, they disconnect once in a while and force you to repair. It’s a terrible fit that keeps loosening and never wants to stay in. Touch controls are not precise and unintuitive. Honestly they don’t sound great either especially on iOS which lacks aptX and the like. Cheaper buds like Oppo Enco do a better job and behave better.
At every level, these buds feel like they don’t want to be IEMs and do their job. They’d rather be dislodged and forgotten at the bottom of a bed, where they belong. I only wish it were these buds that were lost and not my perfectly-mine-but-now-missing CMF buds. It should’ve been you, Astell and Kern. You suck even as a replacement bud.

The detail and ultimate fidelity of the playback is one of the best I’ve ever heard from a True Wireless earphone. The resolving power of the design really lets the listener peer into the music.
The UW100MKII have a feature common in true wireless earbuds: automatic wearer detection, so they can pause music when you remove them and resume it when you put the buds back in your ear.
The default EQ mode was our go-to for most genres, preserving high-frequency clarity while maintaining enough low-end oomph.
I think that Astell & Kern did a fantastic job with the UW100MKII: they sound great and offer the right amount of functionality, prioritising sound quality over gimmicky features.
With one balanced armature, the UW100MKII is able to deliver a great sound, with more details and transparency than most true wireless earbuds are capable of.

Can I connect the Astell&Kern AK UW100MKII earbuds to more than one device?
Here are the steps for multi-pairing connection:
1. If Device 1 is already connected, please disconnect the Bluetooth connection with Device 1. (Unpair first)
2. Please Touch and hold the AK UW100MKII for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode.
3. Please Connect the AK UW100MKII to Device 2.
4. Once the connection with Device 2 is complete, please select the AK UW100MKII from the device list on Device 1 again.
5. You can confirm that both Device 1 and Device 2 are connected simultaneously.
