Analytical King!

I wanted a neutral and analytical sounding earphones for my collection and this exceeded my expectations. Actual reasons to go for this earphones were: 1. I wanted FIIO IEM, 2. HI-RES certified and 3. Accurate sounding earphones. The build quality and sound quality is impressive from the get go. Since I had FIIO JD3, I had an idea of quality while buying these. After hearing many fun tuned IEMs, having an analytical sounding earphones is really relaxing and having a reference set certainly makes our listening experience more pleasurable and peaceful. Also I would like to highlight that some reviewers said it can sound based on your input device sound signature and it does transform into an IEM anyone likes!, for eg. when I plugged to ifi audio Hip dac 2 with xbass on, the FA1 delivered bass perfectly, since it generally does not have bass. It might sound Magical, but you have to try them to understand that they indeed magical sounding sets. I feel blessed to have these sets, thanks to HPZ and short description in the product page by headphone guru (for this IEM Raghav) made my purchase decision damn right.!

Lively and fresh

Rather than going into details such as mids highs and base, I would love to say this IEM feels fresh and lively. The details are pretty good. I can easily pick up on the textures in the instrument even at the far end. Decent and good sound staging I would say at this price point. The sound is not cramped hence can feel the space and I can hear for hours. The earpiece looks gorgeous. Just beautiful. The build is good. The cables are good as well... I was worried about the tangling issue like in the blon bl03 but this does not get tangled. The fit is good with the earhook.

In short, great balanced IEM. Love it... And thank you headphonezone guru for guiding. Thank you for the beautiful song recommendation cards.

Spotting the ED33357 single balanced armature.the FA1 is relatively bass-light, out of the box resolution and tonal balance is quite impressive. If you are new to the earphone hobby, you will immediately feel the rich details in the treble while nothing in the spectrum is overly emphasized.Using the FA1 with phones, you will notice the boost in clarity especially in the treble, the bass is quite shy and attacks comfortably not covering up the sub-bass content. This helps the bass extension sound deeper and makes the overall tuning more dynamic. The tuning is not veiled on either the treble or the lows although it is limited by a single driver’s capability. The soundstage is fairly large and there are no obvious flaws in the tuning.In particular, I like how the crispiness in the treble makes the upper vocal range and percussion instruments more pronounced, strengthening the texture and resolution of female vocals and violins.The FA1 works great with better-mastered tracks that display fuller-bodied mids, playing better mastering hi-res tracks density in the vocal part will be boosted. You may find it a bit leaned with male vocals having some mid-range frequencies dipped and to enhance the midbass impact you may try some slight equalizing.When paired with sources that have a higher gain factor the treble is quite aggressive and switching to the bass tips supplied may help balance out the tuning

DESCRIPTION

FiiO has had remarkable success in developing a line of IEMs that combines the stunning appearance and superb audio quality. FiiO's Balanced Armature driver line-up has always amazed the critics with its single BA setup that presents exceptional tonality and clarity with smooth bass texture. Made out of advanced industrial-grade 3D printers, the FiiO FA1 uses DLP printing technology with a resolution up to 25 um. This 3D printing method delivers greater unit-to-unit consistency and outstanding sound, which sets it apart from conventional moulding or injection moulding processes. The FiiO FA1 includes the Knowles BA driver and cutting-edge 3D printing technology to make high-quality sound available to everyone.

Employing a customised BA driver jointly developed by FiiO and Knowles, the FiiO FA1 is all set to deliver mesmerising sonic performance. The 33357 BA driver, which is incorporated in FA1, produces melodic sound with accuracy and has good soundstage and imaging. The FA1 can be coupled with nearly anything, including your phone, thanks to this driver's low impedance of 15 ohms. The sound is realistic and smooth thanks to a specifically created micrometre sound tube. Overall, these configurations support the FA1's ability to generate fast, powerful bass, rich mids, and detailed treble that will increase your appreciation of your favourite music.

The FiiO FA1 is stunning to look at because of the way it combines the eye-catching ripple texture faceplate with the lovely transparent body. Take time to appreciate the detailed intricacies of FA1's design. This design was finalised after testing tens of thousands of human ears to offer supreme comfort and to allow the sound to flow naturally into your ears. Adding to this comfort is the low weight of 4.5g per unit with the skin-friendly resin material used in the outer shell of the FA1. The resin is highly durable and can retain its colours for years.

The cable for the FA1 is 3.5mm-terminated and constructed of oxygen-free copper-plated silver wire, which can transfer quality sound. The bundled cable is tangle-free and has no microphonics whatsoever. The FiiO FA1 comes with multiple eartips to suit your music tastes. Three pairs of eartips for bass and three pairs for balanced sound are included in the bundle. A lovely waterproof carrying case for your IEMs is included in the box to protect the IEMs from wear and tear.

Regions of the frequency spectrum

SUB BASS
(20Hz - 80 Hz)

The first section of the frequency spectrum is the sub-bass. Everything below 80Hz is sub-bass, so generally, you need a subwoofer or a good pair of headphones (open-back headphones, for example) to hear this region. This region comprises instruments like the Kick Drum and the Bass Guitar. You should be able to hear Sub-Bass if you’re listening on monitors or headphones. But if you’re listening on a laptop or a phone, there’s no way you will hear that.

MID BASS
(80 Hz - 300 kHz)

After the Sub-Bass region, we get into the region known as the Bass or Mid-Bass. This region consists of everything between 80 and 300 hertz. In this area, we’ve got instruments like bass guitar and the low end of a snare. Lots of the low-end vocals as well, because male vocals are going to have the fundamental below 200Hz in most cases.

LOWER MIDRANGE
(300 Hz - 1000 kHz)

Next, if you go from 300 Hz up to 1000 kHz, this is known as the Lower Midrange, and this is a crucial region for music because this is where you get a lot of buildup with guitars, vocals, and even the top-end of the bass guitar especially. Lower Midrange is an area guilty of adding mud to a mix and clarity in this region lifts a track exponentially.

UPPER MIDRANGE
(1 kHz - 6 kHz)

Human hearing focuses inherently on this frequency range. So it’s crucial to get this range right. This region consists of the main focus of the track (e.g. vocals) and synths. Be aware that this is also where you can start to get into harshness and aggressive tones.

TREBLE
(6 kHz - 10 kHz)

After the Upper Midrange, we’ve got the Treble region between 6kHz and 8 kHz, and this is where things start to get harsh. This region is where we have brittleness from instruments like the Hi-Hats and Cymbals. This is also a crucial range for clarity and aggression, especially for female vocals.

AIR
(10 kHz - 20 kHz)

At the end of the frequency spectrum, we get to the Air region or the Top End. This region consists of everything above 10 kHz. This is where we have air and this is where we get a sense of shine and sparkle in our music.
