Amazing, but a little cheaper could make the deal sweeter

The FiiO FH7 is my second purchase from the Chinese firm. I had read and watched at least 15 reviews before finalising this one. The other one on the radar was Moondrop Blessing 2.
I finally chose the FH7 because of my prior experience with FiiO, and in terms of overall quality, I thought the FH7 had a slightly better soundstage than the Blessing 2.
Be that as it may, I was quite stoked when I heard it first right out of the box.
Without going into all the technical details and nuances that a full-fledged member of the audiophile review community would, let me break down my views into a few quick points:
1) Packaging and design: Top of the line. The design, the accessories, and the ease of unboxing is outstanding. The design itself is remarkably beautiful. The black exterior of the earbuds and the subdued gold accents, make it look rich and classy, with no hint of it being flashy or overwhelming. The cable is tough, yet flexible. Most important, it does not tangle.

The sound experience: As I mentioned earlier, soundstaging was the biggest reason I chose this, and it does not disappoint. It has a wide soundstage, much better than the Sony WH-XM4, which I purchased a month or so ago.

The bass is rich, without being overly thumpy. A thumping bass puts me off, and unless you are drunk and dancing in a night club, extreme thump makes no sense. And I don't even drink.
The treble is a little too rich at times, but I changed the eartips to the memory foam ones provided in the box, and all was okay. But out-of-the-box was too heavy on treble.
The mids are just perfect. I was a little worried about the vocals too with the original tips, but the change helped, too.

Overall, an excellent buying decision, and I am not going to regret it. I pair it with my Shanling UA2, and though the DAC-AMP is a battery guzzler on my OP9 Pro, the experience with Apple Music has been simply out of this world.

Extremely detailed and for critical listening.....

First of all I would like to thank headphone zone for giving me wonderful service i.e, timely delivery, good tracking details & great packaging.
Now i am coming to the Fiio FH7 IEM...
If you want excellent sound quality i.e, all the details(highs), soft vocals(mids) & great bass(lows) from these iem you have to choose the memory foam ear tips, an amplifier to take out all the juice from it & balanced filter(black colour one). I am using Fiio Q3 (using balanced 4.4 mm port) as an Amp.
Now from the above setup sound quality from my perception are as follows:-
1. By using Bass filter(red colour one):-
a) Bass(lows)-10/10.
b) vocals(Mids)-7/10.
c) details(highs)-5/10.
2. By using Balanced filter(black colour one):-
a) Bass(lows)-9.5/10.
b) vocals(Mids)-10/10.
c) details(highs)-10/10.
3. By using high boost filter(green colour one):-
a) Bass(lows)-4/10.
b) vocals(Mids)-9/10.
c) details(highs)-10/10.

DESCRIPTION

The FiiO FH7's shell design is inspired by nature and captures the ferocity of ocean waves. It also portrays the mighty and mesmerising sound that brings your favourite music to life. Carved out of aerospace-grade aluminium-magnesium alloy, shells of the FH7 get their unique shape from five-axis CNC machining. Each alloy employed in the FH7 undergoes 21 steps and a total of 3873 cuts to finally get sandblasted and hand polished to get a distinct look. These earpieces were carefully designed to provide a secure fit.

The union of 4 Knowles balanced armature drivers and 13.6mm beryllium dynamic drivers covers the entire audio frequency range that utilises sophisticated crossover and turbo acoustics designs. This crossover design improves driver performance, enhances coherency and smoothens frequency response. The dedicated Knowles SWFK-31736 BA driver takes care of the high and ultra-high frequencies by ensuring that they are detailed and clean without sounding too harsh. Mid-range frequencies are managed by custom and slightly tweaked Knowles 30017 driver BA drivers jointly designed by FiiO and Knowles. This driver offers fuller and better vocals along with a wide soundstage. Finally, an ultra-thin, 13.6mm beryllium dynamic driver works on pumping out the explosive and deep bass response.

FiiO uses S.TURBO V2.0, a patented acoustic design, for the FH7 to enhance the performance of the dynamic driver. This design comprises long, acoustically optimised sound pipes to deliver a powerful bass output. The FH7's internal structure and finely optimised dampers balance the air pressure in the front and back cavities. Your eardrums will encounter less uneven pressure as a result, making listening more comfortable. To offer clean sound, the three-point construction reduces resonance and distortion.

FiiO's pursuit of great sound goes beyond 30 years. Their acoustic design team has a rich history of working towards achieving great sound. FiiO has created an intelligently built acoustic design using high-end drivers with the FH7. You also get carefully designed sound filters for personalised music listening. The red filter emphasises the bass, the black filter is balanced, and the green filter focuses on detailed treble.

Made of high-purity Litz monocrystalline silver-plated copper wires, cables of the FH7 are bundled into eight strands for the highest possible sound. These earphones use slightly expanded and colour-coded connectors— blue for left and red for right. Certified Hi-Res Audio, the FiiO FH7 can reproduce music exactly how the artist intended. With 360° swivel SpinFit eartips, you get an excellent in-ear fit that enhances bass and treble response. You also get a diverse range of accessories that takes care of all your needs.

Regions of the frequency spectrum

SUB BASS
(20Hz - 80 Hz)

The first section of the frequency spectrum is the sub-bass. Everything below 80Hz is sub-bass, so generally, you need a subwoofer or a good pair of headphones (open-back headphones, for example) to hear this region. This region comprises instruments like the Kick Drum and the Bass Guitar. You should be able to hear Sub-Bass if you’re listening on monitors or headphones. But if you’re listening on a laptop or a phone, there’s no way you will hear that.

MID BASS
(80 Hz - 300 kHz)

After the Sub-Bass region, we get into the region known as the Bass or Mid-Bass. This region consists of everything between 80 and 300 hertz. In this area, we’ve got instruments like bass guitar and the low end of a snare. Lots of the low-end vocals as well, because male vocals are going to have the fundamental below 200Hz in most cases.

LOWER MIDRANGE
(300 Hz - 1000 kHz)

Next, if you go from 300 Hz up to 1000 kHz, this is known as the Lower Midrange, and this is a crucial region for music because this is where you get a lot of buildup with guitars, vocals, and even the top-end of the bass guitar especially. Lower Midrange is an area guilty of adding mud to a mix and clarity in this region lifts a track exponentially.

UPPER MIDRANGE
(1 kHz - 6 kHz)

Human hearing focuses inherently on this frequency range. So it’s crucial to get this range right. This region consists of the main focus of the track (e.g. vocals) and synths. Be aware that this is also where you can start to get into harshness and aggressive tones.

TREBLE
(6 kHz - 10 kHz)

After the Upper Midrange, we’ve got the Treble region between 6kHz and 8 kHz, and this is where things start to get harsh. This region is where we have brittleness from instruments like the Hi-Hats and Cymbals. This is also a crucial range for clarity and aggression, especially for female vocals.

AIR
(10 kHz - 20 kHz)

At the end of the frequency spectrum, we get to the Air region or the Top End. This region consists of everything above 10 kHz. This is where we have air and this is where we get a sense of shine and sparkle in our music.
