FiiO X Jade Audio - KA11

When I first purchased the FiiO KA11 on Jun 5th 2024, I expected a modest upgrade over my phone's built-in audio. What I got instead was a device that completely changed how I approached portable audio.

The KA11 quickly became the heart of my wired listening setup. Paired primarily with my FiiO FH11, it delivered a noticeably cleaner presentation with tighter bass, better instrument separation, improved dynamics, and enough output power that I never felt limited while experimenting with extensive EQ in Poweramp.
Speaking of EQ, the KA11 gave me the confidence to dive deep into audio customization. I currently maintain over 100 album and mood-specific EQ profiles, and the KA11 has handled every one of them without complaint. It simply provides a clean, transparent foundation and lets your headphones or IEMs shine.
One thing that genuinely surprised me was its power. Despite its incredibly compact form factor, I had the opportunity to pair it with several high-end IEMs, and the KA11 never felt like it was running out of steam. Unless you're driving particularly demanding full-size headphones, there's far more headroom here than its size would suggest. It proves that a well-designed portable DAC/amp doesn't have to be large to be capable.

The companion FiiO Control app is another welcome addition. While many dongle DACs offer little to no customization, the KA11 allows you to:
Switch between UAC 1.0 and UAC 2.0 for compatibility.
Choose different digital reconstruction (low-pass) filters.
Adjust hardware volume.
Enable or disable the status indicator LED.
These aren't settings you'll constantly change, but they add a level of refinement that many competitors overlook.
Build quality is excellent. The aluminium housing feels premium, the braided cable inspires confidence, and the overall design disappears into your pocket. It's become one of those devices I simply plug in without thinking because it's been consistently reliable.

Pros:
- Clean, transparent sound signature.
- Excellent power output for its incredibly small size.
- Easily drives the vast majority of IEMs with room to spare.
- Premium aluminium construction and braided cable.
- Useful companion app with UAC switching, digital filter selection, hardware volume, and status LED control.
- Compact enough to carry anywhere.
- Outstanding value for money.

Cons:
- The only real limitation is the 3.5 mm single-ended output. As more premium IEMs ship with 4.4 mm balanced cables, you'll either need a separate 3.5 mm cable or eventually move to a balanced DAC/amp if you want to use those cables without swapping.
- Battery drain especially when paired with your phone is real.

Verdict
The FiiO KA11 doesn't try to impress with flashy features or exaggerated tuning. Instead, it focuses on delivering clean, transparent, and surprisingly powerful audio in an incredibly compact package.
For me, it wasn't just an upgrade, it became the device that reignited my interest in wired audio and encouraged me to explore EQ, critical listening, and higher-end IEMs. Even after listening to significantly more expensive gear, I've never felt that the KA11 was the weak link in my chain.

If your setup revolves around IEMs and you're looking for a portable DAC/amp that punches well above its size and price, the FiiO KA11 is an easy recommendation. The only thing I genuinely wish it had is a 4.4 mm balanced output. Other than that, it's a remarkably complete package that has earned a permanent place in my EDC.

Well it's gets warm within 2-3 minutes if outside temperature is very high. I panicked when used it first time after box opening. Later i saw the user manual then it's clarify that it's a high performance DAC that's why it's usually gets warm.Rest everything as expected it's clean,no hiss sound,powerful tighter bass. But the downside is also it's very power-hungry and drain your phone battery faster.

Have paired it with Notebook and Phone to KZ-ZST.

First impression -
1. ZSTs are out in saturation with pure painfully loud sound.

2. Adjusted the app preamp way down to -60db to make it comfortable.
3.Later tweaked db again in the app to get optimum feed.

Initial pros and cons

Pros.
1. Excellent controlled output thru ZSTs anywhere below -36db.
2. Persistive audio quality to connected IEM.
3. As I have observed thru ZSTs; to my ears It's audio performance is consistent and artifact free.

Con.
1. As you start playing an audio file of different format @ pcm and stopped and then after sometime started @ dsd file or vice versa, it gives output as a noise playing along with the newly played file. And I have checked it with mobile as well as notebook, same behaviour. To correct it you have to detach and reattach KA11 to the device's C port again.

2. HEAT: small form factor for such a good powerful dac is inherent limiter in dissipation making it hot while working. Using PCM, it feels sensibly warm but for DSD it generate more heat. i.e. Heat in PCM < Heat in dsd64 <<< heat in DSD128.

Initial Use Conclusion

KA11 is an extreme pump for low impedances and flow need to be reduced and adjusted to desirable comfort.

Like a Cheetah it will STUN you with its capability of driving load in high quality pipeline. But generates more heat while handling DSD tasks then PCMs.

Verdict:
It's a powerful quality DAC capable of driving High impedance loads.
You can use it to get most out of your difficult to drive IEMs or Cans comfortably.

PS.
Reason of 4 stars : Have to reconnect it on device port if format is changed from DSD to PCM or vice versa.

Using the FiiO x Jade Audio KA11 felt refreshingly simple — just clean, natural sound without trying too hard. It adds a touch of smoothness while staying neutral, letting my IEMs sound like themselves. The compact metal build feels reassuring in daily use, and it had enough power for almost everything I plugged in. For a budget DAC, it quietly does its job really well.

Using this product for my Hidiz Mk12 absolutely loved this. Instantly noticed the bass on this thing, amazing product. Will continue to test this thing in different conditions.

Bought these for my HD560s but initially felt underwhelmed since it didn't put out much more volume than my Samsung Note 9, I almost returned them but with some time put into it I was able to appreciate the improvement in treble, bass extension and sound stage and imaging. Probably not worth buying this if you're just using IEMs unless they're planars.

I haven't had connectivity issues or volume issues with my HP probook and Sony Xperia 5 IV running android 14, and having tried with a couple of other android phones there were no issues, however with Note 9 it occasionally mutes for half a second, but that could be an issue with the phone running android 10 or a dirty USB C port.

It gets pretty hot when playing lossless audio.

Long term durabilty remains to be seen, but I don't have high hopes considering the non detachable cable

Would rate 5 stars if it had a detachable cable even at a small premium.

"I recently purchased the Fiio Jade KA11 DAC from Headphone Zone, and I'm blown away by its sound quality! The audio is crisp, clear, and immersive for music enthusiasts especially the beginners like me.

However, I did notice that the device tends to get quite hot while playing songs, especially during extended listening sessions. this might be a concern, but it hasn't affected the sound quality for me or is this is a normal thing to occur with DAC please guide.

Overall, the Fiio Jade KA11 is an excellent DAC that delivers exceptional sound. If you're willing to manage the heat, it's definitely worth considering.

Before this DAC/AMP I was powering my planar CCA PLA13 with Macbook Pro audio jack which is already good and has a good reputation with its impedance matching capability. It was so much better than normal dongle DAC (Venture electronics abigail) for both pla13 and Blon BL-03..

But when I connect to the KA11, such a noticeable difference. Throws macbook pro under the water with such an improved transient response, tighter bass and vocals have more body, and had to dial down the volume quiet a lot in Blons. No change in tonality but cleaner audio output.
The LED indicator does work seamlessly, app is quite useful but no need. Does warm up a bit though but not a deal breaker

My earphone got it full volume at (which i used to listen earlier) 50% with this dac
It sounded cleaner crispier and more musical.
it gets little warm after 20-25 minutes. As instructed, I did not update the firmware.
But it gets warm though

All to DSD: Green

I am using apple music and lossless audio is turn On , still light blue LED only glows

I have another 3.5 mm dac amp adapter but this is really very hi quality and solid with 3 light indicator for music PCM , DSP AND NORMAL Which is really very good performance.

I have bought the KA11 DAC/AMP to use it while travelling. I'll use it with my Motorola Edge 50 Fusion mobile.

Build: The build is quite nice, I don't have any complaints. Seems like it will last long.

Performance: The audio quality is fabulous. It's on par with my Fiio E10K. The bass is punchy, the treble is crisp and the mids are pretty good too. I didn't feel any muddiness in the audio or overlapping in instruments and vocal. I'll keep on monitoring the audio in the days to come.

Cons: It gets a bit warm during the usage, and a microphone pass-through would have been awesome.

1 needs a choice of a few DACs to complement 1's limited array of audio equipment - that, in my case, being just a couple of IEMs & 3-4 Headphones (together with an Amp & a set of Speakers).

I listen almost entirely to Hindustani & Western Classical music - so, Bass is not v important to me.

My preferences are therefore towards basically Neutral sound that is just a shade bright & just a shade warm.

But the kind of recording - whether bassy or too sharp & so on - has to be reckoned with & the tone & timbre compensated for to suit my preferences. I find that Equalizers are not always able to do the job.

My personal (entirely individual/subjective & perhaps not scientific) way to deal with this is to mix & match or toggle between the Amp & Speaker or Amp & Headphone / IEM pairings - to figure which combo gives me the best sound profile suited to my tastes for a particular number recorded in a specific way - & played by each equipment / pairing with me in ITS OWN specific way)!

So, if a CD or YouTube recording is too trebly, I try my FiiO KA9 Amp paired either with the FiiO Sp 3 Desktop speakers or 1 of my Headphones (usually the Sennheiser HD 599 or the Bose QC) or IEMs (usually the FiiO FX 15 or the humbler Sony MDR XB55AP).

Or bye-pass the Amp & use the FiiO KA5 connected to 1 of the headphones or IEMs (usually, the trebly items turn out more neutral & warm with the Amp - Speaker sometimes or Amp - Headphone / IEM @ times or DAC - Headphone / IEm combo @ other times - it depends on the recording mostly, I guess).

It is as likely as not that there are others too who try out different combos to get the results they like best but I don't know.

The FiiO FX KA11 fits nicely into this limited choice of options & adds 1 more arrow in my quiver.

The KA11 has a brighter sound profile than the KA9 (the latter tending to be on the warm side) & helps in my jugglery by giving me another option to deal with recordings with a predominantly warm tonic profile.

Played by itself direct from the PC's port, it has a pleasant, bright sound profile & is not lacking in some warmth or treble either.

Naturally, pleased with it - because 1 is never sure when ordering what the results might be!

Would have given a 5 but for the limited choice of colour, i.e. a Model T Black - Headphone Zone tends mostly to offer black & should offer the 2nd choice of colour (since most producers offer that).
