The smart desktop-class M17 is an entirely new chapter in the digital audio players universe. It has desktop-grade DAC, amplification, power supply, etc. which give it the output power and sound quality to rival and perhaps even surpass highly-regarded desktop systems. The M17 redefines what is possible with portable audio players.
It gives superior resolution and minimal distortion for extremely pure audio reproduction. Desktop-class amplification allows it to drive all types of headphones, even the quirkier ones. Amplification @3W is superior to any other portable DAC.
It has numerous other high points in terms of design, hardware, UI, which makes it stand apart from other competitors. I found it to be better in all respects and performance than A&K &Ultima SP2000T.
The only drawback is its immense size which makes it transportable and not portable. But given the overall package, the Form size can be overlooked.

This behemoth can be considered a portable desktop DAC. It's huge. Put it in its case (that's part of the SKU) and it's like putting a suit on Hulk. Forget about putting it in any pockets, unless you wear Mario pants/jumpsuit.
Now for the good part: everything else, and most importantly, the sound! Connect it via DC and this hunkachunk can power any headphone you can throw at it. The sound is neutral/natural, just as the producers intended. It also plays DSD audio (DSD256). If you're coming from the M15 -- then this has a snapdragon chipset which allows it to use a higher version of Android (latest build is on Android 10). What this means is that it can use apps such as Apple Music (finally!) out of the box. It's a big thing if you're into streaming services.
TL;DR: Great unit. Huge, but packed with features and superb audio quality. Would not say it's Value for Money, since it's super-duper expensive. But if you save up, it's a worthwhile splurge.

Keeping your entire collection of Hi-Resolution music in one place is the most convenient way of carrying your music library. However, Hi-Resolution files are heavy. Most songs in a FLAC format can be about 100mb per track. So more space is always better.
Most players support both internal storage and expandable storage via an external memory card. Make sure you check both - the internal memory on players, and consider the maximum supported size of the expandable storage. It’s best to keep your library of offline files in expandable storage and use the internal storage for saving files from streaming apps.
At the time of writing this article, MicroSD cards for 256 GB were easily available and affordable for less than Rs. 2000. Higher capacity cards are also available, but that seems to be the sweet spot.

MULTIPLE OUTPUT PORTS WITH POWERFUL DRIVING CAPACITY AND LINE-LEVEL OUTPUT PORTS
FiiO M17 offers an array of output ports to select. This is implemented in the design, so you do not need to worry about additional connectors and adapters for different devices. The FiiO M17 supports headphone output with 3.5mm and 6.35mm single-ended, as well as 2.5mm and 4.4mm balanced headphone output. The device also has separate single-ended and balanced line-out ports via independent 3.5mm and 4.4mm ports. M17 also features an RCA coaxial port that can act as input and output, depending on your requirement. The M17 is adjusted to provide a powerful output. The device has an output power rating of up to 3000mW per channel in Balanced out and a spectacular 16dB gain level in over-ear headphone mode.
OFFERING DESKTOP-GRADE GAIN CONTROL, POWER SUPPLY AND HEAT DISSIPATION CAPABILITY
The FiiO M17 offers four gain levels when used with battery power. You can toggle between Low, Medium, High and Headphone Mode. When operating in DC mode, super headphone mode gain is unlocked, with desktop-level amplification gain. To provide sufficient power the M17 has been equipped with two power supplies. You can use the M17 on battery power or choose to operate it in DC supply. With DC supply, the voltage is increased by 35% and offers superior performance. To keep the device temperature cool “H” Type heat dissipation and VC liquid cooling technologies are adopted. The M17's 151g unibody aluminium alloy frame also effectively transfers heat out of the device.
CAREFULLY ENGINEERED WITH THE BEST COMPONENTS TO DELIVER SUPERIOR AUDIO PERFORMANCE
The FiiO M17’s design took 1.5 years to complete, going through various design iterations and internal structural design optimisation. The result is a device that makes excellent use of its space. Inside the M17 are carefully stacked analogue and digital boards with tantalum capacitors, ultra-low noise LDO architecture, NDK femtosecond crystal oscillator and gravity sensors. All these components add a solid foundation for smooth audio playback. The PCBs in the M17 is utilised with an immersion gold finish, with the analogue and digital sections physically separated by being on two different boards to reduce interference between the two portions. Seven high conductivity copper alloy shields also provide shielding to reduce internal and external electromagnetic interference.

FiiO M17 is a highly equipped flagship device that boasts a 5.99” FHD+ display. It produces crisp, high-quality visuals with true to life colours. The 5.99” FHD+ display is more than enough to operate the device with ease. The M17 is embedded with a massive 9200mAH battery with 10 hours of battery life so you don’t run out of juice while listening to your music. The M17 can be operated via the battery mode which also offers quick charging with USB 3.0 or with the included DC12V power adaptor. It provides full performance with the DC power adapter connected.

M17 also features an XMOS receiver chip that works in conjunction with the QCC5124 chip to deliver ultra-low
latency and support for PCM 32bit/768kHz and DSD512 formats. The FiiO M17 also supports MQA unfolding for

MULTIPLE OUTPUT PORTS WITH POWERFUL DRIVING CAPACITY AND LINE-LEVEL OUTPUT PORTS
FiiO M17 offers an array of output ports to select. This is implemented in the design, so you do not need to worry about additional connectors and adapters for different devices. The FiiO M17 supports headphone output with 3.5mm and 6.35mm single-ended, as well as 2.5mm and 4.4mm balanced headphone output. The device also has separate single-ended and balanced line-out ports via independent 3.5mm and 4.4mm ports. M17 also features an RCA coaxial port that can act as input and output, depending on your requirement. The M17 is adjusted to provide a powerful output. The device has an output power rating of up to 3000mW per channel in Balanced out and a spectacular 16dB gain level in over-ear headphone mode.
OFFERING DESKTOP-GRADE GAIN CONTROL, POWER SUPPLY AND HEAT DISSIPATION CAPABILITY
The FiiO M17 offers four gain levels when used with battery power. You can toggle between Low, Medium, High and Headphone Mode. When operating in DC mode, super headphone mode gain is unlocked, with desktop-level amplification gain. To provide sufficient power the M17 has been equipped with two power supplies. You can use the M17 on battery power or choose to operate it in DC supply. With DC supply, the voltage is increased by 35% and offers superior performance. To keep the device temperature cool “H” Type heat dissipation and VC liquid cooling technologies are adopted. The M17's 151g unibody aluminium alloy frame also effectively transfers heat out of the device.
CAREFULLY ENGINEERED WITH THE BEST COMPONENTS TO DELIVER SUPERIOR AUDIO PERFORMANCE
The FiiO M17’s design took 1.5 years to complete, going through various design iterations and internal structural design optimisation. The result is a device that makes excellent use of its space. Inside the M17 are carefully stacked analogue and digital boards with tantalum capacitors, ultra-low noise LDO architecture, NDK femtosecond crystal oscillator and gravity sensors. All these components add a solid foundation for smooth audio playback. The PCBs in the M17 is utilised with an immersion gold finish, with the analogue and digital sections physically separated by being on two different boards to reduce interference between the two portions. Seven high conductivity copper alloy shields also provide shielding to reduce internal and external electromagnetic interference.

What is the warranty on the FiiO M17?
What is the priority of the M17 output ports?
2. When both balanced and single-ended headphones are plugged in, the first plugged-in headset will have a sound, and the status bar will only display the first plugged-in headset icon.
3. The spdif output is controlled by a separate switch. The analog output (PO/LO) and spdif digital output can be output at the same time.
4. According to the Android system's own processing method, Bluetooth transmission and analog output (including SPDIF) will follow the principle of post-access priority.
How to install third-party applications?
1.After connecting the device to a valid WiFi, go to FiiO market, Google Play or other app markets to download and install the app directly.
2.Local installation: copy the APK file to the M17. Go to the file management menu to find the file and install it.
How to enable the USB DAC function?
For Windows computers, please make the settings as the followed steps.
1.Install the FiiO DAC driver in the computer first.
2.Switch the working mode of the M17 to USB DAC mode on the drop-down menu or go to Settings->Mode choose menu to enter the USB DAC mode.
3. Connect the M17 to the computer by the USB port. Select the M17 as the audio input both in the computer and the music app, so it can work.
Notes: When in the USB DAC mode, the M17 does not support Bluetooth transmitting.
How to use the M17 as a Bluetooth receiver?
2. Go to the Bluetooth transmitting list of the mobile phone, and tap the M17 to complete the connection.
How to use the M17 as a Bluetooth transmitter?
1. Go to the Settings->Bluetooth menu to turn on the Bluetooth function.
2.Make the Bluetooth receiving device, such as Bluetooth earphones, enter the pairing state. (Please refer to the user manual of the Bluetooth receiving device about how to enter pairing state.)
3.Go to the Bluetooth device list of the M17->Pair new device to complete the connection.
How to connect the M17 to an external decoder? Does it support USB audio digital output?
1. Enable 'USB output' in FiiO Music app of the M17.
2.Use an OTG cable to connect the M17 and the external decoder.
3.Open FiiO Music app or other music applications to use the M17 as a USB digital output device.
How to make M17 enter enhanced over-ear headphones mode?
1. Connect M17 with the original power adapter of M17;
2. Switch the BAT/DC switch on the side of M17 to DC mode to enter the hidden mode(enhanced over-ear headphones mode).
Note: You can pull down the task bar and modify to other gain modes. The DC power supply is only effective for the enhanced over-ear headphones mode, and the effects of other gain modes remain unchanged.
