Focal Elegia - Multicolour

Looks only Silver and Black but feels - Multicolour - depending upon the source.

Very quality product so beautiful and comfort, very easy to drive in all the players BUT the colour of the sound, sound stage and fullness varies a lot with different source of music , with different format of music. I feel it is excellent with Astell & Kern XB10 and Chord Mojo but not too good with Cayin N3, SoundMagic dongle and Mac book. It is fun to switch the source and feels the difference. So this is not just another headphone to be plugged into mobiles.It has to be paired with great AMP/DAC.
I have noticed one more big difference is - after burning of almost fifty hours, sounds even more rich and full.
Even though the cord is stiff, ear cushions are good but not great and not able to plug into the phone with phone case due to its big hub at 3.5mm terminal, No one can simply miss this hugely discounted product.
Thank you HP Zone for delivered this product with superb packing intent to prevent damage during transport.

You can't go back

Audiophilia is a journey - sure - but it's a one-way trip - forward only. You can't go back. The Elegia is perfect proof of this. Within the first few hours - I had got the inkling that it would be years, if at all, before I'd pick up my other headphones. But just to be sure - I tore myself away from the immersive listening session I was in - and tried out some of the same tracks on the reigning favorite. And the difference was night and day. The Elegia sounds expansive, it brings out the tiniest detail, it's way more immersive. What also struck me was the tonal balance. As I now realize - had it not been for the Elegia - I would have lost out on many nuances of the music (Dr. Chesky Ultimate Headphone Demonstration Disc CD1). So a day after Thanksgiving - I say Thank You HPZ for making such a truly audiophile headphone available at such an discounted price!

Focal - Elegia - Still a good value

Even though Focal has released a new closed back 'Radiance' replacing Elegia, I find this to be a great value for someone looking for an efficient, comfortable closed back with relaxing sound signature, good build quality and decent passive sound isolation.

Sound Signature: Comparing to my Audeze LCD2C : Elegia has a sligthly less warm sound and less punchy base. However, the instrument sounds such as piano tones come across very crisply and with clear separation with other instruments.

Since the new Radiance is marked at around 1200$, if you find Elegia on discount, it might be worth your consideration.
