In Berlin, the HEDDphone was created from the ground up. The HEDDphone is handmade with great care and attention to detail as no machine can, thanks to the exact folding method and careful application of this unique design. Based on American-German physicist Oskar Heil's original Air Motion Transformer (AMT) technology, HEDD creator Klaus Heinz built the first compact and marketable AMT tweeter 30 years ago. Heinz began work on a full-range Air Motion Transformer in 2019 to establish a new ground for this superior transducer principle.

Designed for recording artists, music producers, and audiophiles, the HEDDphone® is a cutting-edge headphone. It is the first full-range capable headphone based on the company's technology: the Air Motion Transformer, and it boasts gorgeous and hand-crafted Made in Germany components (AMT). The AMT is built on a super-light Kapton diaphragm which is folded into a magnetic field, as opposed to the standard voice coil, planar, or electrostatic designs. It is made up of several different-shaped folds that squeeze the air in and out, causing it to accelerate by a factor of three. Engineers modified the initial design by adding new geometries and a more sophisticated system of varied-sized folds to create an even frequency response across the entire audible frequency range. EXCEPTIONAL BUILD OFFERING SUPREME COMFORT WITH SYMMETRIC 4-PIN MINI-XLR FOR EASY CONNECTIVITY
The solid body and functional design of the "HEDDphone" add to its unique architecture, being more reliable. The middle of the top headband piece has a notch, and the two side parts carry the brunt of the weight where the surface area comes into contact with the top of your head. This design means that after a few hours, there will be no hot spot in the middle, and the weight will be distributed to a more variable surface area laterally on the sides of your head rather than pressing down on the centre. The cups are also more tightly clamped inward, allowing part of the weight at the top to be relieved. Furthermore, the pads soften much of the clamp, preventing it from pressing against your jaw. There's a little cup swivel, so getting a good fit isn't a problem. All the materials used are of excellent quality, such as the vegan pleather pads, which provide superior comfort while also being acoustically treated to offer crystal-clear audio. It has a symmetric 4-pin mini-XLR for connectivity, which is rather convenient.

Impedance is the so-called alternating-current resistance that headphones have under specific standard conditions. On devices with low output impedance, headphones are the louder, the lower their impedance is. In principle, we recommend that you choose headphones with low impedance for use on devices that are operated by battery/rechargeable battery (i.e. most portable devices such as smartphones, tablet computers but also notebooks). You can distinguish between high and low impedance. Usually, the gradations 18 Ω, 32 Ω, and 80 Ω are used in the low range. In the high range, 250 Ω are common. If you want to get the most out of your system (and it has the power to do so), choose a model with 600 Ω.

Weightwise, the Heddphone is a fair bit on the heavy side, but my oh my.. the sound is simply stunning.
They are the closest to desktop speaker sound quality I have heard in headphones yet.
The detail, the tight bass punch are simply outstanding.
Don't let the 42 Ohms impedance fool you. To make it truly shine some high power amps are needed to drive them but when it gets the juice, this headphone rises to the occasion and delivers sound that surpasses my LCD-X and Sennheiser HD800s,
It combines the bass punch of the LCD-X with the detail of the HD800s and adds its own flavor to the mix.

I went to headphonezone studio to audition LCD-X. Came back convinced to buy HEDDphone instead after trying it out on Raghav's recommendation. For my personal preference, this does everything. Great detail retrieval, awesome dynamics and immersive sound stage. Vocals seems very present and I hear instruments and their placements that I have not heard in any other headphone before. I drive it with my Topping L30, A30 pro stack. Attached picture to show their chonkeyness.

Fabulous experience though fatiguing on the neck if worn for over 2 hours. I haven't had an end game headphones but brilliant sparkle with unsurpassed clarity. Bass is adequate and clear. Mids are forward but sweet, treble is shiny and highly tamed. Not at all shouty, but a refined Maybach. A heavy one though and needs power. Anything over 1 watt per channel will make them sing. I bought the gustard h16 and fiio q7 and they both have no problems at all driving the this behemoth. End game so far for me. The only thing ahead of these might be the American Dianas by Abyss Audio. I was wondering if could swap out the headphone cables with Audeze balanced xlr cables. I might try that soon.
