FEATURES DAC CHIP FROM ESS SABRE FOR UNRIVALLED SONIC PERFORMANCE AND MQA SUPPORT
The ES9219 is a high-performance 32-bit, 2-channel audio SABRE HiFi® D/A converter with QUAD DAC+™ technology, headphone amplifier, analogue volume control, dynamic range enhancement (DRE) and output switch designed for audiophile-grade portable power-sensitive applications. Using critically acclaimed QUAD DAC+™ technology, patented 32-bit HyperStream III® DAC architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator, the ES9219 delivers up to 122dB DNR and ≤0.004% (1.27V @ 32Ω), a performance level that will satisfy the most demanding audio enthusiasts. The ES9219’s integrated SABRE DAC supports up to 32-bit 384kHz PCM (Pulse Code Modulation), DSD256 (Direct Stream Digital), and MQA (Master Quality Authenticated). The Rarely implemented high-end features like an adjustable analogue gain with DRE (Dynamic Range Enhancement) plus technologies to minimise THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) and crosstalk are possible due to the DAC chip’s advanced specification.
NOTE: It is also possible to choose between a choice of digital filters via downloadable software.
EXQUISITELY CRAFTED FROM MAGNESIUM ALLOY FUSED WITH A GOLD-PLATED 3.5MM HEADPHONE SOCKET
iFi Audio has designed the Go Link to be ergonomic and functional. It has been crafted; from a magnesium alloy enclosure that is robust and lightweight. The flexible cable aids portability and is silver-plated with copper conductors for high signal purity. The Go Link also has a gold-plated 3.5mm headphone output for easy compatibility with in-ear monitors with 3.5mm termination. The Go Link’s headphone amp feeds a gold-plated 3.5mm socket, incorporating our S-Balanced configuration to reduce noise and crosstalk. It delivers a power output of 70mW into 32 ohms and a maximum voltage output of 2.05V into 600 ohms. This gives it plenty of power to drive headphones and in-ear monitors likely to be used with the Go Link and easily outclasses the headphone outputs built into smart devices and computers.

ifi audio is a relatively recent company making waves in quality audiophile products, specifically in the personal-portable audio platform. After going through the great reviews in their British hi-fi magazine, HiFi Choice, I decided to try it. I have been a large speaker-amp aficionado, using several speakers and some great amps. I wasn’t really confident about the headphone amps, though.
For me, portability is high on the list while using a phone for music. I decided to try out a straightforward, cost-effective setup. Apple, on their support pages, has mentioned that to listen to songs having 24bit 192kHz, it is mandated to have an external DAC. Their lightning to 3.5 mm supports up to 48kHz if my memory serves correct.
So, I decided to buy an ifi go link, which is very light, having full metal body with a lovely dark olive greenish black hue, much different and better looking than in the images. They also provide a lightning adapter along with a USB A adapter. These are very useful to use across various OSes. I have not tried mine on android but used it with iPhone 12 and Windows 11. For Windows 11, a driver must be downloaded from the company’s support pages, without which it doesn't work. Once connected, the ifi go-link behaves like an external audio card and this needs to be selected from the settings of the windows.
I connected it to my iPhone 12, which was updated to iOS 16 (it opens up 24bit 192kHz). Not all songs run at hi-res lossless, and the catalogue of hi-res music is less in Apple Music. Played a few tracks, Hotel California (Remastered), Coldplay’s Yellow and Hymn for the Weekend all sounded well with my volume not cranked to even 50%, which otherwise goes way up to 75%. Played songs such as the Chain by Fleetwood Mac, Blue Heron by Sarah Jerosz, Baby by Clean Bandit, Fly me to the moon by Frank Sinatra and found that the vocals have clarity, and the sound seems to have opened up. I tested this using Focal Sphear S and Sennheiser IE100 pro. The sphear s sounded indifferent, with a slight reduction in volume levels and a slight improvement in vocals but the sennheiser ie100 pros sounded absolutely fantastic. I also connected my old Bose OE2 headphones and didn’t notice any major change. I don’t know why this happened, but I observed not all headphones seem to be a match. The amplifier is decent in a sense, draws much lesser power than its competitors, which means the amplification of sound is also comparatively less. The reduction of using the volume levels is between 20-30%, not more. This is slightly a drawback. But the upside here is that battery consumption to run the amplifier is less, so the battery on the phone doesn't drain soon. Ifi go link does a kind of a balancing act here. The go link claims to have the big names used in the electronic components assuring endurance; however, the warranty is only for about a year.
At the outset, ifi Audio is an entry-level DAC/Amp which is needed for encoding the hi-res music but one may be dicey with respect to its purchase, as it will not teleport your auditory senses to another level. It’s just entry level DAC/Amp and that’s about it. Certainly, it isn't bad for sure.
In a word, it’s "Decent".
Total treble. Sound is not pleasant due to over treble playing. Headphone zone is very kindless to exchange. If it is Amazone they will arrange refund also.
I seriously had no idea about IEMs, have been browsing through different websites for a set of good earphones. Initially i was checking out TWEs but slowly started reading up on IEMs. Finally bought this Audio Technica model along with a DAC; purely out of curiosity. The package was shipped quickly and I checked out the contents, all was great. Love the case that the IEMs come in. Hooked everything up to my Mobile (S22 Ultra) and I was blown away with the quality and details of the music. I have never called myself an audiophile as such and I seriously dont know how to term each of the tones and sounds that I listen, but I can say, i have never heard sound so good on any earphone, headphones, etc. 50-60% volume is all that is required and I just keep searching for excuses to get some time to listen to music on my IEMs in my very busy schedule. Only con I can say is that I am yet to find the most comfortable set up of the earpads... That's not on the product, that's definitely on the lazy person that I am. I am now interested to probe different products in this genre, IEMs, cables, DACs, etc...
