Surprisingly amazing

After deeply researching about all budget IEM’s under 3k I bought the KZ castor pro + JCally - JM12 DAC. I would say that this is the perfect choice for who want balanced sound. The bass is there , clean juicy and fast incredible detail, the treble is also pretty amazing not sharp not shouty just perfect even in high volumes. Those who are looking to use this for general purpose music production, blindly get it.

Great build quality, good sound out of the box 👍but dac didn't surprise me

Very good build quality! Most people don’t like the cable, but honestly, I think it’s really good.

I used the Realme Buds 3 for around a year and a half, and this is my first time trying IEMs. The Castor Pro Harman Bass + JCALLY JM12 is a great combo for ₹2,299.

However, when I first plugged the IEM directly into my phone’s 3.5 mm jack, I was impressed by the solid bass and vocals, although it didn’t exactly blow me away. But after connecting it through the DAC, the sound quality actually felt very average. It’s not bad, but there are noticeably fewer details and the bass is much weaker.

Why is this happening? Why does the 3.5 mm jack sound around 30% better than the DAC? I’m honestly a little disappointed, especially since the DAC itself cost me ₹713. Could it be an issue with my phone or the DAC?

Also, does the burn-in process actually make IEMs sound noticeably better? Compared to my wired Realme Buds 3, these IEMs sound around 25–30% better straight out of the box, but I expected a bigger difference. Maybe I just need to give them some time to burn in.

My ratings:

- Sound quality out of the box: 7/10

For the price, I’m not impressed with the DAC, but the IEM itself and the build quality are really good!
