The Coolest Aria!

My experience with this purchase was a rollercoaster to say the least. Initially I had some accessories missing upon unboxing but, Thanks to the HeadphoneZone's excellent support team, the incident was handled efficiently and I was provided with a new replacement unit.

--DESIGN--
The first thing that comes to my mind looking at the gorgeous Moondrop Aria SE is Game of Thrones reference : Winter is coming. It is just simply well designed and is one of the most beautiful looking IEMs at this price point. It is eye catching! Fit is just perfect. Owing to the perfect fit, it is comfortable to wear for longer durations. I have worn them for 9 hours straight on day and didn't feel any irritation or pain in my ears. But, fit is going to vary depending on the individual. The white metal body of the Aria SE stays 3-4°C below the surrounding temperature and gives a cool/relaxed feeling to my ears which gets hot quite a lot. The passive noise isolation with the spring tips is really good.
I think Moondrop has fixed the paint chipping issue, which I faced with my Aria OG, here. The improved tangle free cable in Aria SE is 100x better than Aria OG's(which were, for a lack of better word, shit!)

--SOUND--
If you are particular or picky about bass, DO NOT buy these IEMs, you will be disappointed. The bass is toned down here from Aria OG. The upper mids are boosted just enough, that the sound is much clearer. Vocals, especially the female vocals come out really good and smooth. So does acoustics. Treble is well managed and they haven't done anything special, which is good but, It has less background information than Aria OG due to less treble extension above 10kHz. Sound staging and instrument separation is great. It is the most detailed IEM for the cost. (Try listening to "If We Were Vampires" by Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit to find it out yourself). The timbre is just extraordinary and the sound is pretty close to the original. Acoustics, Country, Jazz and some Pop songs sound incredible! Bang for buck!

Confused about Aria SE or Aria OG? Keep it simple!

A Great IEM. Highs are smooth, Mids and excellent and lows are good enough. If you are a basshead, it's not for you. If you are someone who is looking for great mids and highs, this is well worth the money you spend.

I upgraded from a KZ ZST and this is a worthy upgraded thanks to HPZ team for recommending me this.

We're really happy that you have such positive thoughts about the product and thanks for the amazing review!

My first iem

I am new to this hobby, aria se is my first iem
My initial impressions :-
The built quality is really good, it fits well in my ears but u have to try out other tips and choose ones which fits you properly
Sound wise , these are my first iems and I am not an audiophile so my ears might not pick up some things but here's my impression, these have a very detailed sound there is a clear emphasis in vocals and midrange, bass might not be sufficient for a bass head but it is tight and just enough

Thank you for your genuine feedback on this product, we're glad that you have such positive thoughts about the product.

Moondrop asks for 100 hour burn-in (instant respect!). Value for money, my favourite earphone.

Huge shout out to headphonezone.in for making such products available here in India! The options you have, you guys rock.

Background:
I have damaged my ears with Klipsch Image S4 (V-shaped sound signature, they can sound like multiple subwoofers+tweeters playing inside your ears if you choose to set the EQ in that manner).
My left ear is sensitive to sibilance, right ear is sensitive to too much/loud bass. Pretty screwed up, right? Any speakers/audio system I purchase is based with intention of protecting my hearing from further damage while being able to enjoy my music. I like balanced, musical setups. Purchasing Moondrop - Aria Snow Edition was a decision in pursuit of the same goal.

Current gear: Sennheiser HD598 SE, Soundmagic E80C, Soundmagic E10C, Jabra Elite 75t (this one has boatloads of subwoofer-like bass and treble that ends up hurting my already damaged ears).

To me, a good speaker is one in which old 80's bollywood songs sound like playing from a radio, at the same time if a track has rumbling bass, it should present itself. The listener should not have to hunt for sounds, sounds should be presented to the listener by the speaker. The characteristics and tuning of the speaker should always respect the boundaries within which the sound was recorded/mixed in the studio and beyond which sound starts getting too coloured and muddy/muted/too bright/too warm, unless intended by the audio engineer.

I was hearing many good things about Moondrop, but was wary of the slightly bass-leaning sound signature. When the Aria SE came out, the universal reaction was that these are more neutral compared to the original Arias. Thus went ahead and purchased a pair.

This is my first ever earphone which the manufacturer themselves say needs at least 100 hours of burn-in. Have not known of any other reputed manufacturer say about burn-in (not even Sennheiser for their HD598 SE). Instant respect for Moondrop!!! You can refer to YouTube videos for unboxing and in-box contents.

Build Quality: Decent for the price range. I’m aware of the paint chipping issue in the original Aria and some Aria SE users have also seen the same, however am not worried since I take care in handling my audio gear. The wires have absolutely no memory and are therefore totally straight with zero kinks/curves (which are stubborn to remove and still present on my E80C cables after more than a year).

Comfort: The spring tips are comfortable but for proper seal (to enjoy bass), I have switched to the silicon tips. I can wear these earphones for 8 hours, sleep with them at night and wake up in the morning with zero ear pain.

Sound: Absolutely what I was hoping for. The Moondrop Aria SE has glowing mids. Vocals (especially female) are a delight to hear. The timbre is the best I’ve heard and beats E80C by a long margin. Songs like Shreya Ghoshal’s “Jadu Hai Nasha Hai” (Jism), Adele’s “Hello” (25), Billie Eilish’s “No Time to Die”, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings’ “This Land is Your Land” are at another level altogether.

Soundtracks like Lasiurus (Batman Begins), Rise (The Dark Knight Rises), District 9 (District 9), have detail that wasn’t so clear with instrument separation/layering on the E80C. Treble, bass, Piano, Strings in "Mind If I Cut In!" (The Dark Knight Rises) are extremely well presented with great instrument separation!

Bass: It is there. All the frequencies. The rumbling ones, the beat, the soft airy ones. None of them overpowering and always respecting the audio mix. And depending on genre (Rock, hip-hop etc.), the earphone reacts decently if you apply EQ. Never felt lacking for my music.

Mids: Amazing. Wow! So wholesome.

Treble: Not sibilant. Though they don’t have as much extension as some of the bright earphones, they never feel inadequate and complement other frequencies beautifully. Never felt lacking.

Overall, till date, my best earphone purchase ever! It sounds way better than even my Sennheiser HD598 SE (except soundstage, obviously) and does not hurt my ears externally or internally! Therefore, totally value for money

PS: Note to Headphonezone.in:
Guys, I got 4 emails in 7 calendar days (after delivery) for posting review. Please don't push so much, some people burn-in their new speakers by actually listening to them while playing their music, plus…lack of time. Hope this long review compensates for the delay. Keep up the good work!

Snow beast. Best in terms of clarity and soundstage

Well kind of mixed feeling, I initially ordered Aria 2021 edition! As it was out of stock. Had to go with Snow edition.

Heard that Aria has good low tones, bass is powerful. Well snow has right amount of bass and clear mid tones and crystal highs.
Give it a time and you will like the snow for sure.
I am loving it and it's one of my daily drivers.

Using with foam tips will give best results, I have tried all rest.

Hey there, nothing makes us happier than knowing you loved your purchase, hope you had a comfortable shopping experience and thank you for the great review and ratings!

Moondrop Aria Snow Edition - Quick Review

Straight out of the box, it's design is amazing. Sounds very good , close to Harman Target 2019 v2 with a warmer tone. And for its 80$ price , it's one of the, if not the best. Only issue i faced so far was comfort. Long sessions were not as comfortable as I'd expected, my ears started to hurt. Although it entirely depends upon personal build - how ur ears are shaped , what ear-tips you used etc (I used the spring tips from Moondrop)

Thanks a lot for your detailed and genuine feedback, we're glad that you have such positive thoughts about the product and we'll share your thoughts with the brand as well. It'll also help our fellow customers to make the right choice!

MOONDROP PRESENTS THE ALL-NEW AND REDESIGNED ARIA SNOW EDITION

Moondrop has had great success in creating a line-up of IEMs that combine excellent audio quality and great looks. Launched in 2021, the Aria IEMs featured a Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) and a composite structure that resulted in exceptional performance. Moondrop Aria was a revolution with its single dynamic driver setup that presented exceptional tonality and clarity with smooth bass texture. Moondrop Aria now gets an overhaul, with the all-new Moondrop Aria Snow Edition. As the name implies, Moondrop Aria Snow Edition has undergone a total redesign, sporting a brand-new CNC-milled metal gold casing with a visually stunning snowflake theme design that you will undoubtedly like flaunting!

EXCEPTIONAL SOUND DELIVERED WITH UPGRADED DYNAMIC DRIVER FUSED WITH DLC DIAPHRAGM

The first-generation Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) composite diaphragm of the Moondrop Aria Snow Edition replaces the original Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) diaphragm that was integrated into Aria and incorporates a 10mm dual-cavity dynamic driver unit. The DLC diaphragm is a composite of nano-thickness diamond-like amorphous carbon deposited on a high internal resistance base material. It inherits much of the component configuration and acoustic structure of the original Aria. DLC diaphragm is classic in Moondrop’s terms as they have utilised the same previously in the famous Kanas Pro IEMs. With this new dynamic driver, the pair achieves a smoother performance with refined and better-detailed treble frequency response. The sound of the Moondrop Aria Snow Edition is more polished, transparent, and crisp. It has a consistent, distinct tone and produces a holographic, airy sound that will enrich your experience. The Moondrop Aria Snow Edition is bound to astound you right away.

FUSION OF ULTRA-FINE IMPORTED DAIKOKU CCAW VOICE COIL DELIVERING AN ENRICHING AUDIO EXPERIENCE

The Moondrop Aria Snow Edition is genuinely an upgrade and integration of high-quality hardware housing. It combines the 10mm dual-cavity dynamic driver with an ultra-fine imported Daikoku CCAW voice coil to provide a lightweight suspension system. Its interior cavity is made of brass, which serves to regulate and control the airflow. Outstanding electroacoustic performance is achieved by the DLC diaphragm composite material's high rigidity, excellent damping, and lightweight. The high-frequency waveguide structure of the Moondrop Aria Snow has undergone meticulous adjustment to benefit from the new DLC composite driver. The Moondrop Aria Snow uses unique structural developments in addition to the remarkable performance of tried-and-true legacy materials to provide a treble that is smoother and more polished with rich detail.

EXPERTLY TUNED FOLLOWING VDSF TARGET RESPONSE COUPLED WITH HEAD-RELATED TRANSFER FUNCTION

The Moondrop Aria Snow features a composite cavity, numerous tuning holes, and numerous acoustic dampers with varied values for precise frequency response adjustment, as do all Moondrop dynamic driver IEMs. The final tunning achieves all technical goals and presents an enjoyable listening experience. The Moondrop Aria Snow's frequency response closely matches the intended response, which combines the Head-Related Transfer Function (HRTF) and Room Response Function. Without the use of boosted bass frequencies designed to colour the timbre, it offers a wider vertical soundstage and real-time timbre performance. The Moondrop Aria Snow reproduces a more accurate instrument timbre. The Moondrop Aria Snow also features a Virtual Diffusion Sound Field (VDSF), a design idea that the engineers at Moondrop came up with during the development of several IEMs. The purpose of the VDSF technology is to replicate the recording's tonality and soundstage. VDSF implements technology in multiple fields, including a target response based on the frequency domain performance. Several of their highly regarded IEMs, like Blessing 2, Kato, and KXXS, among others, have the VDSF target response design.
