EXPERIENCE PURE SONIC DELIVERY WIRED OR WIRELESSLY WITH USB AND BLUETOOTH SUPPORT

With the introduction of wireless technology, the audio industry has grown by leaps and bounds. Earlier products had wireless functionality, but they did not sound great. TOPPING engineers considered this aspect and have designed the E70 to incorporate a QCC5125 chipset enabling Bluetooth 5.1 support. E70 has the certification of Hi-Res Audio Wireless & LDAC and supports Bluetooth codecs like LDAC (24bit96kHz), aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX LL, aptX, AAC, and SBC. To get even better sound quality from Bluetooth, TOPPING engineers abandoned the built-in DAC of QCC5125 while connecting its digital signal to ES9028PRO to decode. For you to use the E70 in wired mode, "TOPPING" has incorporated the newest XMOS XU316 chipset. The USB hardware based on the newest XMOS XU316 and Thesycon custom driver (applicable to Windows, other systems are plug and play) makes the E70 stable and reliable. With; USB IN E70 supports up to 44.1kHz-768kHz/16bit-32bit PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) and Native DSD64-DSD512 (Direct Stream Digital). It also supports DSD(DoP) DSD64-DSD256 (DSD Over PCM). DOUBLES-UP AS A PREAMPLIFIER FUSED WITH A 12V TRIGGER INTERFACE

In addition to the DAC mode with a fixed output level, the E70 also has a DAC + preamplifier mode. In this mode, you can control the output volume from -99dB to 0dB by the knob or remote control. This design provides greater convenience when connected to a power amplifier or monitor speakers. The TOPPING E70 also hosts a 12V Trigger interface. The 12V Trigger interface on the E70 can be configured for active control (Trigger out) or passive control (Trigger in). With only one easy-to-obtain 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable, the E70 can be turned on and off synchronously with other devices equipped with a 12V Trigger interface. With this setup, you can connect E70 to the TOPPING L70 professional-grade headphone amplifier, and you can form your desktop audio chain. TOPPING has also kept the THD+N of the E70 to be lower than 0.00006% (A-weighted), enabling music to be accurate in every detail.

EQUIPPED WITH A REMOTE WITH SELECTABLE OUTPUTS AND AUTO ON/OFF FUNCTIONALITY, MAKING IT IDEAL FOR THE L70

E70 has a balanced XLR output and single-ended RCA output. You can choose "XLR only", "RCA only", or "XLR+RCA" output for different applications. Additionally, TOPPING has added the Auto On/Off functionality to the E70, which will turn ON and set to the input where the signal is valid automatically. When E70's selection is not "valid" for 1 minute, E70 will turn OFF automatically. TOPPING was on the spree of designing the E70 to be the most versatile device and has included a fully functional remote for you to have; control over the device from the comfort of your couch. The E70 has USB, Coaxial, Optical, USB, and Bluetooth, as inputs and selectable RCA & XLR outputs. The engineers at TOPPING understood that in addition to the more versatile XLR 4V and RCA 2V outputs, there are also extensive needs for XLR 5V and RCA 2.5V. When XLR 4V and RCA 2V are selected, more devices can be adapted when XLR 5V and RCA 2.5V are enabled; the performance improves by leaps and bounds with these functionalities. To get you started TOPPING has also designed their versatile headphone amplifier, the L70, to be a perfect match for the E70. The TOPPING L70 is suitable for almost all kinds of headphones. The dac you buy before diminishing returns hits you like a freight train.

First of all, thank you Headphone zone for the super quick and safe delivery of my dream dac (for now).

Alright, now let's talk about it.
I personally bought the e70 to use it as a dac for my active studio monitors. I have to admit, I definitely was sceptical on whether such an expensive dac will be worth the money. And knowing what I know now, I can confidently say, YES.. ABSOLUTELY.

Positive aspects:
I noticed the E70 was precise, clear, and had a balanced sound. It was not overly bright or dark like some DACs can be. Additionally, the E70 is neutral to warm. In addition to being an accurate, fast, and technically competent DAC, the E70 conveys the sound signature of the equipment you pair it with.
To me, the E70 sounds dynamic, vivid, and exciting. For the first time I heard depth in my sound stage.
It is well built and feels extremely premium.

Negative aspects:
It is not the most user friendly dac and will need you to go through the manual to learn how it works. For instance, if you want to go into the settings menu, you'll have to switch off the device by turning the power switch at the back to "off", then press in the volume knob and finnally turn it back on. This was needlessly complicated to figure out, and the instructions in the manual weren't clear.

My only significant gripe with the dac is that the preamp function is a miss. For some reason I cannot get even get my speakers to play until I increase the volume on the dac to -69 db from -99 db and for my listening levels I needed to crank it up to -20 db (mind you my speakers were set to max gain which is less than ideal to begin with).
This forced me to use the dac in its "dac only" mode which would lock the output of the dac to max and then adjust my volume on my system digitally (again, less than ideal).

All that being said, I'd still buy the e70 again, if I could go back. The sound clarity and staging is worth it.

Brilliant dac punching way above its price ✨

I got this dac some time back and wanted to use it for a good amount of time before commenting on it...
It took me only once or maybe twice to get used to all its functions and I'll have to say that it's an extremely user friendly piece. I've now used it quite extensively and it sounds very good. I have 3 other dacs, 2 of which are more expensive than this one but the E70 sounds almost at par with an 80k dac, quite unbelievable!
Quite a few dacs try hard to sound good and end up colouring the sound with their own signature, this lovely piece gets out of the way and just highlights the good and bad of the music and the rest of the audio chain.. it's smooth yet not dark sounding, it's open and extended at high frequencies yet not bright or sterile, the bass has a solid texture and punch and detail retrieval is stellar. It sounds very balanced and can swing with excellent macro and micro dynamics when needed. The signal auto sensor feature is also an added advantage.. the only drawback I found so far is that the pre-amp section in just about average, there is a dip in sound quality when connected directly to a power amp and using it as a dac/pre. The only other gripe is that the silver version looks better to my eyes but unfortunately is not available in India. Overall, the Topping E70 is a superb dac and has exceeded my expectations in almost every way!
I would also like to thank HpZ for their excellent service. The remote that came with the unit was not working properly but Raghav and team were extremely helpful and sent me a replacement remote. They even followed up to ensure that the unit and the replacement remote are working fine... very highly appreciated 👍
