Almost perfect at this price point

disclaimer: Still waiting for it to be in stock
I've been waiting for the entire month for these to come in stock "by the end of February"
Truthear hola is more laid back version of the salnotea zero
It has a dark turning which means the extra sparkle in the treble which provides a bit more clarity but also comes with the caveat that it can't be used for long periods.
The most close comparison would be the tangzu waner. It has a more warm and brighter sound signature, but not at sterile as the salnotes zero.
The hola in a sense is a refinement from the other two as it has a little bit more bass boost compared to the waner and a little less treble (dark tuning).
This has been called the best iem for 2k by many reviewers.
1. Bad guy Good Audio (hbb)
2. Crinacle
3. Our own raghav sir
4. Gizaudio shortlisted it as a good entry point but still prefers the tangzu waner.

Thanks a lot for your detailed and genuine feedback, we're glad that you have such positive thoughts about the product and we'll share your thoughts with the brand as well. It'll also help our fellow customers to make the right choice!

Unexpectedly good.

I was using the kz zsn Pro X for a really long time, and was tempted to get the moondrop Chu when it was released. But the moondrops lacked bass which I wanted. And few months pass and the 7zh and tangzu come with their own iems targetting the same neutral curve and finally the TE holas came. I chose the holas over the other two because the treble was kinda laid back ( makes it easier to listen to it for long periods of time). I would suggest the holas to anyone who just wants a chill music session from time to time. If you wish to experience the sparkle in the treble section, tangzu's warn'er is the way to go.

Hey there, thank you so much for this amazing review! We're glad to hear that you are happy with your purchase. Keep the music playing!

Ok Hear me out!

I'm a bass-head who I prefers warm tones, I previously bought the EDX Pro (similar base graph as the qkz x hbb) which had hefty amount of bass, but when I listened to the Hola, I realized I was missing out on those subtle details that used to get muffled under the influence of the super high bass. Now, I could clearly notice the pedal kicks and the finger slides.

This IEM is tuned to give a balanced experience with a slight tilt towards the low ends while keeping the mids detailed. Other good things about this IEM is the comfort and quality of the shell, the cable, the variety of ear-tips and a good quality pouch which is hard to find on every IEM of this price range. It fits well to my ears.

Like any other IEM at this price range, these too have average technicalities but the tonality kinda covers for it. I mean, for 1700/- you get fatigue free listening so why even complain. I do wish they had provided a mic. IDK if its just me but it didnt even require burn in and it sounded good right out of the box.

I drove this IEM with my Lotoo Paw S1 DAC before posting the above review, Although I found no major difference while I used it directly with my Macbook Air's in built Headphone Jack.

Thanks a lot for your detailed and genuine feedback, we're glad that you have such positive thoughts about the product and we'll share your thoughts with the brand as well. It'll also help our fellow customers to make the right choice!

A great starting point

So I’ve been using the HOLAs for a couple of weeks now and here are my thoughts on it:

- build quality is really nice for the cost, even better than some 5k plus iems. especially the wire.

- this is a very non tiring, long sessions kind of iem which makes it so good IMO, because some iems in this price range just aren’t able to deliver that.

- the vocals are not really that forward leaning, they sound a bit recessed but not too much, in most songs I’ve listened to they balance it out very well. There’s a clear separation of instruments, there was little to no sibilance for ears my but it did get a bit too sharp for my ears at higher volumes which i was easily able to fix by changing my ear tips.

- the soundstage is great as well, it’s around the head instead of inside it which makes the listen experience that much better.

- the bass isn’t thumping or over the top, it’s there and it’s very balanced. if you want a lot of bass you’d have to look elsewhere but HOLA gives you a nice amount of, which satisfied me because i listen to modern rock/pop, metal and edms a lot. definitely more bass than something like Salnotes zero.

Overall, for the price these are really really good and a very good option for someone who is just starting out this hobby. you’ll like them, just don’t expect out of the world performance. I mean that goes without saying for any iem under 2k. but yeah, i personally loved these!

also thank you headphone zone, i really appreciate all the follow up emails and the prompt delivery of the product, definitely my goto headphone website now!

Dark and laid back (Ret. due to Channel imbalance)

Immediately it was apparent that these will be very forgiving on the ears, long sessions won't be a problem. The con is that it lacks sparkle, treble is lacking in a major way. Resolution is normal, nothing impressive. The size of the IEM is small. The cables are awesome, although one ear loop was bigger than the other.

Q.C. should be improved, as mine had channel imbalance (different volume in each side). I had returned mine.

Our Verdict

The Hola is right now the best selling and most popular IEM for less than Rs. 2000. For good reason. It sounds amazing. Superbly balanced, just the right amount of bass, and a nice wide and open sound stage.

These IEMs have an absolutel cult following. No one had heard of Tangzu before the Wan'er S.G released. For good reason, they have the most natural sounding IEM in this segment.

The 7Hz Salnotes Zero has easily got to be among the best IEMs that you can get under Rs. 2000. This IEM puts a lot of its counterparts to shame and is a prime example of why you don't need to pay for tuning.
