These headphones deliver a spacious and open soundstage with utmost clarity and detail. Delve into pure sonic bliss with these headphones!

Indoor Use

Open-Back Design

Headphones with an open-back design, allow air to pass through the earcups. This means that Open-Backs do not block any noise from around you, as closed-backs do, and music being heard will also leak outside to people around you. So they can only be heard in a quiet environment.

However, Open-back headphones do sound more natural and open. Open-back headphones create a feeling of space, presenting audio as if you are sitting at a live concert. Audiophiles swear by open-back headphones, and they sound quite different to closed-backs.

These headphones are perfect for critical listening sessions, mixing and mastering music. They have an accurate soundstage presentation and precise imaging.

Planar Magnetic Drivers

Planar magnetic drivers combine characteristics of several driver types. They employ magnetic fields akin to dynamic and balanced armature drivers. However, planar magnetic drivers, like electrostatic drivers, use a flat, thin diaphragm in contrast to a coil. The planar drivers are known for their quick transient response.

Replaceable Cables

A pair of headphones with a replaceable cable has many benefits, and one of them is if the connecting cable has a problem, it doesn’t mean that you have to buy a new one. If the connecting cable gets pulled or damaged, you can replace it and keep using your good-old headphones or IEMs. This way, your headphones will be protected and will last longer. With the advancements in cable manufacturing, you now get a variety of replacement cables with various termination options, lengths and quality.

Needs Amplification

Headphones and IEMs require a certain level of power to sound their best and work at their full potential. When your headphones or IEMs are underpowered, they can sound thin or muffled.

Amplifiers are required to provide adequate power to your headphone or IEMs to perform at their best. Simply put, amplifiers allow a weak audio signal to be boosted to a powerful one.

To put it into perspective, devices such as your phones and laptops come with an amplifier, but they offer very limited output power. This output may not be sufficient to power headphones and IEMs to shine at their best. This is where a dedicated amplifier is required to deliver adequate power to hear your music in all its glory.

The HiFiMan Arya Stealth Magnets is a marvellous planar magnetic headphone that offers an immersive listening experience. If you're looking for a planar headphone that's lighter on the head (and wallet) than many other planar in its class and still sounds good, then consider the Arya Stealth Magnets.

HiFiMAN is known for introducing technologically advanced headphones to the world; the Arya Stealth Magnet version is one of them. Unlike the sound waves created by a conventional magnet, the shape of Stealth Magnets enables the waves to pass through without generating electromagnetic interference. HiFiMAN’s advanced magnet design is acoustically transparent, dramatically reducing wave diffraction turbulence that degrades the integrity of the sound waves. The reduced distortion results in accurate, full-range, and pure audio output. This Planar Magnetic construction promotes transparent, precise sound positioning with exceptional dynamics. The HiFiMAN Arya Stealth Magnet version has a linear bass, tonal balance, and mostly-even treble range. The instrument and vocal presentation are distinguished, allowing your music to breathe and come alive.

When it comes to detailed audio retrieval, no factor is more significant than the diaphragm. Required to oscillate up to 20,000 times a second, most diaphragms, which are made of plastic or cardboard, can’t overcome the hurdle of their inertia to reproduce lifelike details. The HiFiMAN Arya Stealth Magnet version, on the other hand, features a diaphragm that’s only a nanometer thick. This exceptional thinness allows it to reproduce unparalleled details and lifelike imaging that you won’t find on other headphones. It delivers a holographic and airy sound maintaining coherence and cohesiveness. The HiFiMAN Arya Stealth Magnet version has an exceptional soundstage, excellent imaging, and a sense of depth and space thanks to its open-back design. The Arya Stealth Magnet version offers a fully immersive listening experience. The Arya Stealth Magnet version performs remarkably well in terms of image clarity and extracting small details. These headphones are successful everywhere and add depth and body to every recording. As a result, listeners are treated to an intricately precise sonic voyage.

The HiFiMAN Arya Stealth Magnet Version has focused on remarkable sound due to its open-back nature. To support the sound, the Arya Stealth Magnet Version has been equipped with asymmetrical ear cups to follow the natural shape of the human ears and offer a snug fit. These headphones have also been elevated with the company’s patented window shade system, which is created to meet the need for driver protection and allows ample space for sound waves to escape, resulting in a highly durable and sonically-pure headphone.

The HiFiMAN Arya Stealth Magnet Version showcases the classic HE1000 style and shapes with its all-black exterior, glossy black headband, and eye-catching matte-black cups and grill. The Arya Stealth Magnet Version is a statement of aesthetic and sonic excellence. The headphones are made of high-quality materials and are lightweight due to the use of sturdy materials and high-grade aluminium in the headband's construction; This makes the headphones durable and comfortable. It perfectly complements the headphone in terms of sound as well as looks.

The HiFiMAN Arya Stealth Magnet version keeps things simple with a single Crystalline Copper cable. Featuring a 6.35mm plug and a jet black woven exterior finish, it’s the perfect complement to the sound and sight of the Arya. These headphones also come with a user-replaceable connector design allowing for easy cable swapping, offering durability and enhanced customizability.

Flagship in disguise

Let me start this review by the fact that the Arya is the best headphone I've listened. My previous headphones were the Sennheiser HD650 and Audioquest Nighthawk. The trouble I had with the Arya's are that their Sound Quality is so much better than my previous HPs, that I found it very hard to compare. It was a revelation to behold, to put in a few words. The headphones are built fairly well, my model is a V2 revision, and minor changes are made by Hifiman to improve the overall quality. To keep the review about the sound simple, The Low end, Mids and treble appear to come from 3 different headphones. There is a tangible space between instruments which are perfectly placed in a relatively airy, but very deep Sound Scape. Comfort is very good, almost at par with the Nighthawks. I use a Chord Hugo 2 and it drives it brilliantly. For buyers on the fence, Let me tell you that these use the same drivers as the Hifiman HE1000 V2, with a slightly different magnet structure (V1), and a different paint job is the only differentiator. It's a Flagship alright, But a stealth flagship waiting to mesmerise buyers with its sound. To finish my review, the law of diminishing returns hits heavily once you cross about $800, yes, there are improvements here and there, but they wouldn't blow your mind. Here is a headphone, which would easily sell for $2k, if Hifiman priced it so. It's an out and out top-class headphone. The HEK V2 was priced at $3500 which was expensive and beyond the reach of many. But these are amazingly well priced for what it offers, the performance of the HE1000 at less than half the price, more than makes the Rs.1 Lakh pill easy to swallow. Absolute recommendation.

Arya completes my portable rig!

Arya was driven easily by the AMP8EX module from my DX220. This makes my protable rig complete. Worthy buy as I am not going to upgrade to Susvara/HE1000SE/HE1000V2 any time sooner. It is the best compromise at the moment. Next stop would be the ribbon station :D
Xduoo xd05 can drive it through the roof.

I come from Sunadaras and also have a Stax L700 with 353x. I can say that Arya's sound has weight that the L700s lack. It is comparable to L700 in clarity but L700 is a shade more detailed and nuanced sounding. Arya's sound has clarity, texture plus heft to it.
Comparison to Sundaras - If Sunadara's are 1080p then Arya is 4K. I approximate them to be 38% better than Sundaras.

It takes a few hours for Arya to break-in. In the beginning It needed 110 on the volume dial, after a 9-10hrs it was playing at the same level with 92~95 on volume wheel. [DX220 with AMP8EX module]

Arya, your endgame!!!

The best, I have not heard the other Hifiman cans, don't need to, the Aryas are the best, they are a bit hard to drive, but they are very forgiving headphones, anything sounds good on them, I have a BD T1.2, they are picky about the source and DACS and Amps, they need the best to sound awesome, but the Aryas sound awesome with anything, very very highly recommended.

Good sound, iffy durability.

This was my previous review.
Good while they last.

This review is a dichotomy of sorts.

One half is that the headphones themselves sound good, are comfortable and are priced reasonably for the insane audiophile world.

The other half of the experience is Hifiman's QC and the fact that each purchase is like playing Russian roulette. I bought these headphones in January 2021. In April 2022, the left driver is dead. I had put them away in a working condition and the next time I plug them in, nothing. Its not like the driver blew or something.

I reached out to Hifiman for out of warranty repair, and they replied saying that the ARIA V2 (non stealth) is discontinued, so no service is possible. They will provide a replacement stealth model for 80K and the old headphones.

Yeah, no. I don't think I'm keen on playing the Hifiman lottery again.

I'm now updating this on 28th April, 2022.

Despite not wanting to gamble on HIFIMAN, I couldn't let it be. These headphones are really good, as long as they don't crap out, and I decided to take up HIFIMAN on their offer for a new set of ARYAs for 77,999 and my broken pair.

To their credit, they were helpful, courteous and speedy, cross shipping the headphones.

These are good headphones and probably the best at this price. Fingers crossed they last a lot longer this time.

Also register your ARYAs with HIFIMAN for an additional 3 months warranty. It might make a difference. It would have covered my set.

Hi Nitin Bhandari ,
We are so happy you took out time & elaborately reviewed the product. We are sure this will help our customers to make an even better & informed decision.

Stay away

Lost over a lakh after purchasing a Hifiman Arya. It was damaged. They didn't replace it, and Hifiman India support on top actually blamed me and insinuated I cheated them by sending them an older damaged Headphone. I don't understand how these businesses can run after treating their customers so poorly. I'm never going to purchase any products with these guys or Hifiman ever again and I'd recommend anyone else to stay away as well.
Also if you're looking to buy one, remember they can NEVER BE REPAIRED. I wish someone told me that before I spent a ton of my hard earned money on these.
