It's a good DAC but heats a lot

Under budget best portable Portable DAC & Amp - iBasso - DC05 just go for it💯🤩

This is a potent litlle all-rounder that works well with Android devices and Windows 10 PC as well.

Headphones and IEMs used for testing:

With Windows 10, the driver is instantly installed and the LED turns green to indicate PCM input.

USB-C connection is straightforward.
With my old Motorola X4 running Snapdragon Series 8xxx SOC and USB-C the connection is immediate and simple.

Unlike what numerous reviews claim, this device WORKS WITH MICRO USB PHONES. Conect an OTG cable. From settings activate OTG (see image). The "Mount OTG" option remains greyed out, so don't worry. Plug in the DC08 and the LED turns red to indicate connection. Play an Audio track, and the LED turns green. Tested with my Vivo Z1 Pro.

The DC05 provides adequate wattage to drive difficult to drive headphones like the DT770 and others at 70% volume.
The AKG sounds wonderful at 60% volume
The dynamic range is boosted and the high frequencies and mids are boosted. The sound has a punch but the low end remains clean.
IEMs like the KZ ZSNPro, which sound good when connected direct ly to headphone jack, sound a little shrill when connected through the DC05.
The old Sony XB450 suddenly sound pleasant and listenable.

Windows 10 PC is now being used to watch movies with excellent audio.

Not the best device available, but for the price it is a good deal.

Does more than its intended. Really appreciate the dynamic range it has and the and the Audio synthesis. It has a Harman EQ kind of inbuilt profile , so at first you will feel like it is too subilant ( if you corrected your headphone already using other equaliser prior ) . As my self being a Sound Engineering working for Movies & Music in Dolby Atmos technology , i find this product to be perfect and you can best experience the full potential of an immersive mix if you also enable "Dolby Atmos for Headphone Binaural " rendering in Windows 10 with this

SOUND QUALITY is excellent... Your ears will cry when you rise volume to 70% . The issue is it is 'OVER HEATING ' . Posting it after using half day..
I'm pairing it with my MARSHALL EQ and it made it as BEAST....

It's my first time using a DAC and this one truly enhances the audio. Loving every bit of it.

Excellent DAC for the size. The power output is just stupendous for any IEM. Heck, it can even drive my full size DT 770 Pro (80 Ohm) to very loud volume without breaking a sweat. Sounds very organic, not neutral by any means though. The bass becomes tighter, the treble crisper and the overall imaging and separation is just chef's kiss on my Moondrop Aria. Definitely recommended to anyone planning to experience hi-fi audio on the go.

I've been searching for a portable DAC dongle for my Oppo Reno 2F for some time, because I have always felt that my phone's inbuilt DAC is nothing but shit, since, I mostly listen on my PC using Topping E30+ Edifier R1280T speaker, the difference in sound quality when listening on my phone is most noticeable & unacceptable to me. I didn't have much option due to budget constraints. I selected Shanling UA2 primarily based on the reviews on HPZ; but later I changed my mind and shifted to iBasso DC05 due to it's dual DAC implementation & very good reviews on online forums & I thank myself for my wise decision. I have paired it with my recently bought Moondrop Chu & the outcome is phenomenal. Yes, 'PHENOMENAL' is the right word compared to phone's internal audio. Each & every instruments sound clean & seperate from each other, it gives you a feel of being present right in the concert hall & the performances are going on in front of you. Vocals are little bit forward, bass is very good and punchy and it compensates for the lack Chu has, thus making it a perfect pair with Chu. Treble is good but not ear piercing. I would advise you to use iBasso UAC app for fine tuning volume alongside phone volume button. Many many thanks goes to the HPZ team for bringing this marvellous product to their store and timely delivery. My search for Desktop audio solution had long been ended with the purchase of Topping E30 (from HPZ) and now the hunt for portable audio solution also meets it's end happily. Or does it? Who knows! 😉

A headphone dac will become a necessity if you are jumping into the world of audio. If you are planning on buying these to run with some kz iem then you will not find them to be worth it as it would make a very minute difference. You will however find this to be an essential upgrade if you have a good pair or headphones that need some power to run. Connecting these with my Sennheiser 280 pros made a world of difference in terms of volume levels and overall gave my headphones a good sense of weight and fullness to the sound that it produced. A small gripe that I have with these is the get pretty hot after 20 minutes of listening, especially if you use it outdoors or in a hot environment in general, these do tend to hear up quite a bit. Otherwise everything else is bang on.
Very satisfied with headphone zone's overall experience got the package delivered to me the next day itself. Very happy to see such a company exist in India.

The DC05 is a great starter DAC. I did not expect it to be of such good quality, in sound and in build. Works really well laptops, phones, and iPads. The only flaw I found in it is that it heats up over time.
