I recently purchased an unboxed Simgot EW300 in-ear monitor (IEM) at a discount from Headphone Zone, hoping to upgrade from my KZ Castor Pro Bass Edition. This review covers my experience with the unboxing, sound quality, and the seamless return process, comparing the EW300 directly to the Castor Pro Bass Edition.
Unboxing Experience: Like Brand New
The unboxed Simgot EW300 arrived in pristine condition, far exceeding my expectations for a discounted, pre-owned product. The packaging was immaculate, with all accessories neatly packed and no visible signs of prior use. The presentation felt premium, and kudos to Headphone Zone for curating such a fabulous unboxing experience—it genuinely felt like opening a brand-new product. The website’s attention to detail in refurbishing unboxed items deserves high praise.
Sound Quality: A Disappointing Comparison
As an owner of the KZ Castor Pro Bass Edition, a bass-heavy dual-dynamic driver IEM tuned to the Harman Target curve, I had high hopes for the Simgot EW300, especially given the glowing reviews praising its detail retrieval and balanced sound. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t align with those sentiments.
Detail Retrieval: Contrary to reviews hyping the EW300’s clarity, I found its detail retrieval lacking compared to the Castor Pro Bass Edition. The Castor Pro, despite its bass emphasis, delivers crisp treble and decent midrange clarity, making instruments and vocals stand out in tracks like rock and EDM. The EW300, however, felt veiled, with less separation and definition in complex passages. For example, in songs with layered guitars, the EW300 muddled details that the Castor Pro resolved more clearly.
Bass: The EW300’s bass was tighter and less boomy than the Castor Pro’s seismic low-end, which is great for those seeking neutrality. However, as a bass enthusiast, I found it underwhelming, lacking the visceral punch I enjoy in the Castor Pro.
Mids and Treble: The EW300’s mids were smooth but recessed compared to the Castor Pro’s warmer, more forward vocals. Treble on the EW300 was less fatiguing but also less sparkly, contributing to the overall lack of excitement.
Overall Experience: The EW300’s sound signature didn’t resonate with me. While it’s technically proficient for its price (~₹6,000–₹7,000), the listening experience wasn’t enjoyable, feeling flat and uninvolving compared to the Castor Pro’s lively, bass-driven character.
It’s worth noting that sound preferences are subjective, and the EW300’s balanced tuning may appeal to those who dislike the Castor Pro’s bass-heavy profile. However, for my taste, the lack of detail and engagement was a dealbreaker.
Return Process: Headphone Zone Shines
Disappointed with the EW300, I contacted Headphone Zone to share my feedback. Their response was exceptional—they emphasized that they didn’t want me to keep a product I wasn’t enjoying and offered a hassle-free return. The process was seamless:

The pickup was arranged promptly, and the IEM was inspected without delays.

Conclusion
The Simgot EW300 didn’t live up to my expectations, particularly in detail retrieval and overall enjoyment, falling short of my KZ Castor Pro Bass Edition. While its unboxing was flawless, thanks to Headphone Zone’s stellar refurbishment, the sound quality didn’t suit my bass-heavy preferences. However, Headphone Zone’s outstanding customer service and hassle-free return process deserve applause, making me confident in future purchases from them. If you prefer a neutral sound, the EW300 might work for you, but bass lovers may want to stick with IEMs like the Castor Pro.

Absolute best in this price range if you are looking for a neutral but slightly fun iems. Great all rounder, overall smooth timbre throughout all frequencies and is a very coherent sound despite being 3 different drivers. Great resolution, decent soundstage, all you could ask for in this range. 5/5 super value for money.

Simgot EW300 has really good tuning which provides enjoyable music. I can feel the sparkle ✨. Overall packaging is good with carrying case, extra nozzles and tuning accessories.
Though i found very minor difference in Bass between the Silver and Golden nozzles.
