What is the warranty period on the FiiO JM21 and how do I claim warranty?
How to access the storage/SD card after connecting the FiiO JM21 to a computer?
Mac computers need a driver.
1.After connecting the FiiO JM21 to the Mac computer, click the "NO NAME" folder emerging on the desktop->double click Mac->Mac/MAC OS MTP Client->Android File Transfer.dmg. Drag the "Android File Transfer.dmg" to the desktop of the computer.
2. Drag the "Android File Transfer" file to the "Applications" folder and wait for the completion of the copy.
3. Enter "Applications", and double click the "Android File Transfer". Then you can manage the files stored in the internal storage of the FiiO JM21 or the Micro SD card.

Added community sharing functionality to the system equalizer.
Added new retro theme “Pod Mode”.
Added May Day Festival themes to Cassette Mode (Note: To ensure the best theme effect, some festive themes will not display album art).
Optimized an issue of repeated reboots when connecting the power adapter after low-battery shutdown.
Fixed an issue of occasional abnormality in Bluetooth transmission.
Fixed an issue of occasional low charging current.
Other performance optimizations and bug fixes.
How to enable the USB DAC function?
For Windows computers, please make the settings as the followed steps.
1.Install the FiiO DAC driver in the computer first.
2.Switch the working mode of the FiiO JM21 to USB DAC mode on the drop-down menu or go to Settings->Mode choose menu to enter the USB DAC mode.
3. Connect the FiiO JM21 to the computer by the USB port. Select the FiiO JM21 as the audio input both in the computer and the music app, so it can work.

Notes:
When in the USB DAC mode, the FiiO JM21 does not support Bluetooth transmitting.
How to use the FiiO JM21 as a Bluetooth receiver?
2. Go to the Bluetooth transmitting list of the mobile phone, and tap the FiiO JM21 to complete the connection. If the connection fails, it is recommended to turn off the Bluetooth of mobile phone and FiiO JM21, then turn on the Bluetooth function again for pairing and connection.
How to output coaxial digital signal from FiiO JM21?
2. Connect one section of coaxial cable to the 3.5mm audio port of FiiO JM21, and connect the other end to the coaxial decoding device.
3.Play music on FiiO JM21 player software to output coaxial signal.
Note:
a. At this time, the coaxial signal is decoded in the third-party decoding equipment, FiiO JM21 to realize the turntable function.

Well, I've been using the jm21 for the past 4-5 days. I'll go straight in to the pros and cons ( according to me) :
1. UI : Although for a music player, the technical prowess regarding thrir sound op matters the most, but this being a android device, the UI matters a lot. I'm using the niagra pro launcher and the overall ui experience has been pretty good ( even though the doc is old, it still holds its ground pretty well). Love the Fiio Music app other than the fact that it still does not shows the albums under a particular artist. In that case you can use Oto.
Sound : I'm not a die hard audiophile, so I might not have the most detailed answers. I already own devices with CL as well as Ess sabre. The power output of this one is really good. I have used the Hexa, Project M and DT770 pro (80 ohm) and it can drive all three of them with out any issue. Although the sound depends both on the source and the iem , with my hexa ( mostly flat) it has the typical Cl sound produces the original details beautifully with just a bit of warmth( try Burning Ghat).
My suggestion if you truly want to hear good quality stuff, use the balance port and find your preferable albums on Apple music with ( Apple digital master ) tag . The all to dad feature seems cool, but it is like playing native 1080p films on a 4k display, seems a bit gimmicky on the streaming services.
Now cons :
For me there's only two con, one of them being the major one and the other is just my preference.
1. Battery: Pardon my french but the battery life is just shité. Yeah I know powering heavy cans with the baoanced jack will take power but this is literally a new device , what scares me is the state of the battery once this gets old.
The Album grouping under the artist tab in fiio music : it doesn't, that's it. It groups all the music by that artist randomly under the artist tab.
Misc: the bluetooth codec can't be changed from ldac to sbc or anything ( at least I couldn't find any option till now).
As I've said in the beginning, it is a standout choice for the price, but with an big issue.
Ps : Cheers to The Hpz team for the fast delivery and not increasing the price even though fiio has increased the global price.

This DAP has a nice feature - in pure music mode when I power on it starts playing the song from where it left off automatically with no button press.
Sound - it has a slightly wide soundstage and the bass has slightly less impact/slam compared to a BTR15 or HiBy M300.
Screen is good and battery life ok.
The parametric eq and other sound settings are great, can tune the eq to a target curve for any headphone with one touch. FiiO has really improved this sound signature customization aspect from previous gen players.

Earlier I am using Sony NW A55. It is good DAP. But it noticed FIIO JM21 which is android based and is WIFI enabled. The FLAC files sounds amazing on it. I am currently using it with Sony MDR X55AP. Listening to music is great. I also had KZ AN01 bluetooth adapter with combination of KZ ZS12 pro X which is great. But the wired one gives better sound experience when listening to FLAC files. One more thing kindly make the availability of protective leather cover in Black color.
Everything is good. But the only problem is that the battery drains very fast.

Reviewing it after 3 months of usage. This is my first DAP experience. It took me sometime to get used to it and its very compact.
Regarding battery in my experience with 4.4mm + offline flac songs + medium gain + screen off + wifi and BT off = 1% battery will be drain for every 5 mins . so approximately it will be approx 8.30 hours(its almost what they claim ). So anyone who is buying
I have listed out some pros and cons
Pros:
1. Major pro - its very compact
2. powerful output - It can drive Final E3000 which is a power hungry iem(I use 70%Volume high gain)
3. All 4 modes are good, performance wise. Especially As bluetooth Dac I feel its very good
4. Android 13, there is no lag as such. I don't install much apps so never faced it
5. Sound is clean, little bit warm. anyway we have global EQ, we can customize sound as per our liking.
Cons:
1. As it is compact, Fiio compromised in Battery segment also. which they could have improved. If you use display a lot then battery will drain. btw its having quick charging so its okay for me.
2. In box you will get a crappy case, which I am not using. Got a Fiio leather case from abroad. After that I feel very safe and easy to carry.
3. You will get heat issues if you use with streaming in outside environment.
Overall its a very good budget-entry level DAP. Recently only I started this hobby and I am enjoying the FLAC/Lossless world.
P.S. for hpz team, please have a good case in stock for the DAPs/DACs in case if box case is not good. I was waiting for sometime to get case for JM21 in ur site, lost patience : ( and then got it from my abroad friend

The size is compact like an audio cassette tape. Performance is snappy and sound quality is good for the money. Battery life is a compromise due to its slim nature.

I am just a newbie who wanted to try all these gadgets for the audiophiles. Before all these I used to listen music through Air Pods Pro from iPhone and it was great. I thought so until I tried the IEM (KZ) and FIIO X JADE K11 (USB AMP & DAC), after a lot research. It was just great. Then I thought to get a DAP. I got FIIO JM21, after my own research. It’s a great piece. Listening to music is great and it feels nostalgic when you had wired headphones with players. I am using my KZ IEM. It works great with that. I have been using the Apple Music. I will get the TIDAL as told by many on audiophile groups. The only demerit is the battery drainage, I think may be due to the WiFi connection which I use to listen. I will try the different modes present in the DAP. It looks great.

I was torn between buying a new headphone over my existing HD599 and HD660S. After coming to a conclusion on which headphone I wanted to buy, I came across the new DAPs available on HPZ and that made me think - maybe I need something more portable than a new headphone, it would eliminate the need to open my laptop and connect the DAC, headphones etc. I diverted the money planned to the JM21 after some quick looks at the reviews posted (versus Hiby R4), and felt the android platform and other features would be a plus for me. I saw apple music also available and so went ahead.
I have so far tested the DAP with both the Apple music lossless and external SD card with flac files - and only with the HD599. I will test it with the 660S over the weekend and if possible update the review. I have had no problems with the DAP - no lags, no heating up (just mildly warm on the back), the battery is okayish - i will wait for more time before judging that since that is one complaint others have highlighted. Build quality is again okayish - i am posting couple of pictures which show some strange gap or missing layer near the screen edge. I hope HPZ can check with FiiO if this is normal or I should be worried and get a replacement??
Sound quality wise I enjoyed listening for hours and felt it was very pleasant. on my 599 it sounded like they were made for each other.

Fiio JM21 is an absolute gem if you are starting your DAP based audiophile journey !! If you want clean sound, without any disruptions by messages, calls, notifications, etc. please get this one. Android bit perfect works with every streaming apps (Yes, including Apple Music :D ). If you are using Planar magnetic drivers, or wooden speakers (I own Edifier D32), then it needs a bit more amplification. But pairing it with dedicated amp can really scale this beast <3
