This headphone costs Rs. 70K with it's cheapest suitable AMP & it's still worth it

HD600 is what, Jeans & T-shirt is to fashion. Comfortable, inoffensive, subtle, required for every day. But it comes at some cost, and most of it is Amplification. Forget about portable use these headphones can sound bad (not up to the mark) even in $1000 Amplifiers.

This headphone needs quality amplification, not in terms of Current (mw@300ohms) but in terms of Voltage swing. So you have to cherry-pick your Amplifier to get the best out of it. This headphone is rated 300ohms at 1Khz and the lower or higher you go the more resistance it shows. The impedance curve is unbelievable for these transducers. These headphones sound dead in A90, most Schit & SMSL Amplifiers. To wake this thing up you need tubes. Not any tube, but OTL. You need a DAC that has the warmth of analog, not some Clinical Topping and SMSL would work. And when you pair this up with a Quality OTL and Analogue Sounding DAC this beauty wakes up and throws everything out of the window.

Sonic Impressions - This headphone is so correct sounding that it makes most players cry. Don't get me wrong Fancy stuff like Soundstage/Imaging/Bass Punch is not there by any means but it produces music unlike anything else. I don't think anybody should include this headphone if they are climbing the audiophile ladder. This is a kind of endgame for just one purpose, Originality. The tonality is so realistic it makes most audio equipment bad. You won't even notice it, but if you grew up with a Dad who built speakers, you can't admire it enough. They sound vintage, realistic, true to life, not big sounding like Planars, every part of the Frequency Range is correct.
The most surprising thing about them is their ability to produce details, I never thought they would produce textures this well being a 26-year-old set but to my surprise, they do extremely well while producing textures, not so much in micro details and microcontrasts.

Don't get this headphone if you don't like recorded music. EDM & modern POP songs don't sound exciting. Everything before 2000 sounds heavenly. Vocals recorded using Dynamic mic sounds good, condenser? not so much. Rock & Acoustic Music sounds phenomenal. The bass reduction is there for a reason and you will notice it if you pair this up with an OTL.

People often talk about lush vocals and I disagree HD650 is still better in that regard but if you want a be all-end music machine HD600 is hard to touch in that regard even being a 26-year-old headphone. But before investing in these headphones think twice.

Thanks a lot for your detailed and genuine feedback, we're glad that you have such positive thoughts about the product and we'll share your thoughts with the brand as well. It'll also help our fellow customers to make the right choice!

Sennheiser HD-600: The MYTH, The LEGEND

This is my first high-end audiophile headphone. And it is just incredible. I was confused between this and HD-650. I did a lot of studies and read many reviews, only to be even more confused as many people regarded the HD-600 as the best while others preferred the HD-650. The HD-600 is regarded as one of the best neutral reference, while the HD-650 is a bit warmer. Finally, I put my trust in Crinacle. In his headphone ranking list, he awarded the HD-600 with an A-, which is an extremely high rating if you know how Crinacle does his rating. While HD-650 got a B+. I also had Hifiman Sundara in mind, but it is a planar magnetic headphone, and I wanted to experience a high-quality dynamic driver.
The sound from the Sennheiser HD-600 is absolute bliss. Excellent tonal quality and high fidelity. People generally complain about its absence of bass, but for me, this neutral sound signature is what I seek. I listen to classic rock, alternative rock, metal, and Western classics, and the HD-600 shines in these genres and brings out everything in the music. I am using the headphones with Ifi Zen Dac V2 while connecting it to Apple Music to stream Hi-Res Lossless/Lossless music. As the Zen Dac has a lovely truebass button, it compensates for the lack of bass while listening to bass-heavy music. Moreover, wearing the headphones for an extended period is amazingly comfortable.
Thanks to Headphone Zone, I got this pair of headphones within 20k to make it even sweeter.

Thanks a lot for your detailed and genuine feedback, we're glad that you have such positive thoughts about the product and we'll share your thoughts with the brand as well. It'll also help our fellow customers to make the right choice!

An incredible headphone - 27 years after it was released

Six months ago, the audiophile bug bit me and I bought the Sennheiser HD 650 courtesy Headphonezone. I was introduced to a new world of sonic bliss which I didn't even know existed. I began piling up cd's, hi-res files, what have you - and then I became aware of the HD 650's shortcomings. It is a reference headphone, no doubt; but I wanted a bit more clarity and punch from my music. So, I decided to just go for it and get the HD 600. The internet is full of comparisons between the two already, but let me share my impressions:

The first thing I noticed after 10 hours of burn-in was the better treble extension. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Vocals sound DIVINE on the HD 600, and yes, edm sounds way more exciting than it does on the HD 650. And no, I entirely disagree with those that say it has no bass. I say " amp them correctly, man!" These cans are as power-hungry as the HD 650. The detailed detail retrieval however comes at a price - the HD 600 will mercilessly reveal the flaws in a recording. It is much less forgiving than the HD 650. Panic! At the Disco's " High Hopes" is tolerable on the HD 650. On the HD 600, the bad mastering and compression, coupled with excessive treble is fully exposed. Dua Lipa's album "Future Nostalgia" is not a pleasant listen on cd - but the Tidal Masters version at 24/192 bit hi-res is a revelation. The Pet Shop Boys' album " Hotspot" sounded like a complete mess, mastered by a tone-deaf person, both on cd and 24/44.1 bit hi-res. But "Random Access Memories" by Daft Punk sounded phenomenal in the 24/88.1 bit hi-res version. "The best of Armin Van Buuren" on cd was good , too, as was the remastered cd of Jean-Michel Járre's groundbreaking "Oxygéne" album. So you get the idea. Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Adele, Dido, Olivia Newton-John sound amazing on these cans. I mentioned before that this headphone is power-hungry - underpower them and then they become what is described as "shouty" by audiophiles, meaning, the treble will become annoying and ruin your listening experience. So a mixture of good amplification and well-mastered music will work wonders for you. So , you ask, should I go for the HD 600 ? My answer is, get BOTH the HD 650 AND the HD 600, and you will have a pair of cans that can satisfy you for years to come. There is no headphone that sounds good with all genres, no matter how pricey it is . When I listen to Hans Zimmer's "Interstellar" soundtrack, the HD 650's meatier bass and slightly larger soundstage beats the HD 600 hands down. Sibilant recordings like all of ABBA's albums sound wonderful on the HD 650. But Cliff Richard and George Michael's albums are much more enjoyable on the HD 600 due to the intricate vocals. For rock, industrial or metal , both headphones shine, depending on the recording. I found Pink Floyd and Iron Maiden fantastic on the HD 650, while Queen as well as Rob Zombie rocked on the HD 600. There is a reason these two headphones have remained favourites for more than two decades. Trust me, you will put off shelling out huge sums of money for a flagship headphone for a long time once you get both these headphones! They are both, simply brilliant. And yes, a BIG THANK YOU to Raghav Somani and his entire team for bringing audiophile bliss to Indian shores !

Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that you had a positive experience shopping with us. ️ Your support means the world to us! We can't wait to serve you again soon. ✨

HD600 Intimate headphones

They have an ability to sound effortless, even while keeping a very balanced tone. I find the HD600 to be very close to neutral, with a coherence from the bass up to the treble.
There is a light, but still present midbass bump around 100 Hz followed by a progressive roll off below 80 Hz. Modern music that has been recorded with emphasis on the bass will sound fine with the HD600; however, on most other tracks they will definitely sound bass-light or at least slightly under average in terms of bass quality as compared to recent headphones.

The midrange is very engaging and slightly forward. Every time I switch to the HD600 after having spent time with another pair, I am immediately enamored by their character and tonality. However, with time I have started to less appreciate some genres with high density in the upper-mids region (and lower-treble) – around 3-5 kHz. The HD600 can be a bit piercing and too elevated in that region.

Hey Klaus, thank you so much for the amazing feedback! It means a lot to us. We are so happy to hear that you are loving our products and services.

Great for vocals and intimate sound

A legend for 25yrs so a lot has already been said and it's all true. Pros - Fantastic vocals, intimate sound. Cons - sound stage is narrow, lacks sub bass. But the cons don't matter versus the pros. Irrespective of whether a newbie to audiophile headphones or already own a collection, definitely worth owing a HD 600.
Initially considered HD600 vs HD650 as both are recommended and not much difference between them apparently. However found a sampling on youtube and found HD650 a bit veiled in the video so went for HD600.
Using it with Topping DX3 pro+

Side note: The list price of 44k is quite steep since at that price point, there are better options. I purchased my unit during Festival of Sound Sale so was reasonably priced
