After extensive listening sessions, the HD 599 has become my go-to for home listening, and here's why:
Comfort: 9/10
This is where the HD 599 truly shines. The velour ear pads and lightweight build (~250g) make it genuinely disappear on your head ā I've done 3+ hour sessions without any pressure points or heat buildup. The open-back design also means zero ear fatigue from trapped heat, unlike some closed-backs I've tried.

I'll divide the review into two sections, one comprises of my thoughts on the headphones itself and the other one is a relative comparision. Both are important!
I love the Hd599. It sounds amazing. The bass, mids and treble all sound rich. The sound stage is really good- you will feel all the layers comfortable float and impact you, giving you an immersive experience. You will be moved by everything you hear, the will be impactful and rich and it will not feel as if you are listening through tech. Yes everyone says natural feeling sound but what's what like? So go to Sultans of Swing A night in London 1966. You will be able to hear the the finger tapping the bass on top of the bass sound which is crazy. Again, the finger moving on the string alongside the obvious notes of the string. that's what natural is! It is SUPER COMFORTABLE, probably the most comfortable pair of headphones I've worn till date and I use spectacles, no clamp pressure and soft earcups. Build is also nice, plastic yes but it feels solid. The clarity is good and despite the immersive sound you won't be fatigued.
Now the relative comparision.
I have used 7hz salnotes 0 and some KZ iem before. 7hz was great for guitar portions only, good detail but no bass at all. KZ was the reverse, good bass and perhaps treble but lack of detail.
My current pair of iems are moon drop chu 2. Have them for 2 years now. Beautiful pair. Extremely detailed, has bass mids and treble. I would want just a little bit more bass. It is close to a balanced sound composition. It's almost perfect. Upon comparing the moondrops to the Sennheiser these are my remarks- absolute minute details clarity in orchestral music is picked up by the moondrops, the Sennheiser struggles due to its immersive bass and mids but these are the very tip top of details. When it comes to vocals, the Sennheiser vocals is a little bit recessed compared to moondrops but on the other hand, the other layers have space to sound floaty and rich. For the moondrops, the vocals are on your (face?) but then the other layers feel detailed yes but you do feel a little mechanical. Now vocal harmony wise it's simple, chu 2 captures higher scale harmones better like soprano and altos, Sennheiser captures bass and treble harmonies better. When it comes to guitar led music, anything with bass, modern pop rock compositions Sennheiser is the ideal choice. It's literally made for that. If you want more orchestral high note clarity then perhaps moondrops. But also factor in the soundstage. No iem or closed back headphone will make you feel like you're in the world. I am not talking about the effect you get it you just max the volume or if you have a bass boosted monster headphone. Imagine all the layers like guitar, Synth, violin, vocals to feel full and to be enveloped by them even without max volume. That's simple audio quality which the moondrops cannot achieve.
I have used the samson sr850 also. Sennheiser is much much better as again it has an amazing soundstage. The Sr850 is similar to moondrops, you'll get treble more but it feels very compact.
Remember Sennheiser still has good treble representation. It is an all-rounder. It is only in comparison that it's perhaps losing the very extreme of treble detail battle but it's winning in every other possible front. So yes you go for your own comparisons with whatever you own but remember to consider the 599 for what the are themselves.
Also hd 599 and hd 599 se is the same with a colour difference. While researching no need to get confused.
Overall: The hd 599 feels like a beautiful step up. It sounds amazing, feels very very comfortable and the price is great. I got it for 7800 ish because I got a coupon. I think under 10k it's the best option for an open back there is. Don't pay more than 10k but within 10k it's probably one of the best options for an open back. Also it's great for gamers like super super good because of the sound staging. No microphone though so keep that in mind. Cheers. All this is on 3 days of use, I hope my listening journey with the 599 get eve better!

DISCLAIMER: I didnt buy these on hpz, but I wanted to share my thoughts. They are definitely worth it if you enjoy instrumental music with warmer sound and dont mind a muddy high end.
If you're listening to electronic music, these are great, lovely reproduction and warm tones. But, if you listen to anything where you need some clarity in the high end, you're going to be disappointed.I found that they sound... horrible when playing vocal tracks on my hiby r3 ii.
The hd599 is great if you want something fun to listen to with instruments, but i will not recommend them for vocals.
I couldnt really figure out how to improve the eq so that couldbe compensated for either.
On the plus side, they are very, very comfortable and great for listening to some smooth jazz or whatever while you work. I have owned my pair of HD599SEs for about 4 years at this point, and its really fun coming back to them when i want to have a fun time with some idm music like from c418.
I've also upgraded the earpads and cable on mine.

Bought mainly for my samsung tab.works fine with my tab and vivo mobile.tried to pair with my topping dx3pro dac. Did not like the sound output,too much gain even at minus gain settings.I think this headphone built for cellphone or tab level output only.sound quality is spacial and well balanced.volume level is good and noise is minimal.very lightweight and good for long hours.

This is my 1st audiophile headphone, and I am definitely impressed!
I have never experienced open-back sound, so bought this with some skepticism.
But I am quite hooked to this headset.
Pros:
1) Vocal-forward and treble first positioning: Vocal and instrument heavy music will shine with this headset.
2) Soundstage is fabulous: The open-back design is a massive contribution to this, and you initially won't realise how wide and open the soundstage is, but exploring different genres will let you have that realisation.
3) Surprising bass: Open-backs are notorious for poor/weak bass response, but the bass response on the HD599 is surprisingly good for the design. It'll feel centered and wide.
4) Padding and comfort: Super comfortable for long hours. Generally openbacks are comfortable for longer sessions, but the foam quality and headband are great for prolonged use. The headband is super comfortable and flexible.
Cons:
1) Open-back design: This isn't for everyone. Environmental sounds will leak inside, and you might find yourself pushing the volume all the way up to compensate for this.
2) All plastic build: This is an entry level audiophile headphone, so the build is all plastic. Scratches and dents are possible.
3) Sennheiser tuning: Sennheiser has a specific tuning to their audio products, which isn't typical to general use consumer audio products. So if you are looking to buy these, consider understanding Sennheiser's sound and tuning first.
All in all, this is a solid headphone that an entry-level audiophile should go for. New design, sturdy build, distinct colour, and true Sennheiser sound. Nice package for those entering this segment of audio products.
