The default EQ mode was our go-to for most genres, preserving high-frequency clarity while maintaining enough low-end oomph.
The detail and ultimate fidelity of the playback is one of the best I’ve ever heard from a True Wireless earphone. The resolving power of the design really lets the listener peer into the music.
The transition from the upper midrange into the treble is rather seamless with very good clarity and detail. Percussion has excellent snap.

Can I connect the Astell&Kern AK UW100MKII earbuds to more than one device?
Here are the steps for multi-pairing connection:
1. If Device 1 is already connected, please disconnect the Bluetooth connection with Device 1. (Unpair first)
2. Please Touch and hold the AK UW100MKII for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode.
3. Please Connect the AK UW100MKII to Device 2.
4. Once the connection with Device 2 is complete, please select the AK UW100MKII from the device list on Device 1 again.
5. You can confirm that both Device 1 and Device 2 are connected simultaneously.

With most reviewers mentioning that the earpieces fall out of the ear, and the in-ear detection is unreliable coupled with a reviewer on Headphone Zone mentioning that open box items are not as good as brand new, set off doubts in my mind about my openbox purchase.
Thankfully parcel contained all the original box packing, all eartips, literature etc except for the sealing tape. Whew. So much for the openbox scare.
My ear is medium sized and usually the eartips that come fitted as standard work superbly.
With the UW100, they just fell out. My heart sank. I should have listened to all the reviews. Fitted a size larger with the same result. I had bought the open box to minimise my risk and here it was almost coming true as per my worst fears. Fitted the largest eartips, they just about held in place. That was close.
The in-ear detection began to act funny like the other reviewers have mentioned. Oh boy.
Is this why this set is here in the open box sale?
The in-ear sensor is on the inside surface next to the LED. If that comes within 2mm of the cartilage part of the ear, it detects the "ear" perfectly. If we position the earbuds slightly rotated, which is possible with this design, no part of the ear activates the sensor. But align the earbuds with the primary mic and the "A" logo vertically facing forward, everything starts working as it should.
Don't need to switch off "In-Ear detection" which is the backup option in case you aren't able to get it to work. Glad mine works flawlessly.
I come from a DT770 Pro and AKG361BT in conjunction with iBassoDC05 and Jabra Elite 65t (mediocre) Audio Tecnica ATH SQ1TW TWS as reference.
The details on the UW100MKII is on the lines though not equivalent, to that you hear on the DT770 and the AKG361.
The soundstage is wide and instrument separation is superb. Detailing out of such small earbuds is nothing short of spectacular.
On "Another Day in Paradise", the starting low frequency tones before the drums kick in can be distinctly identified as two different sources.
On Santana's "Bella" many peripheral percussion instruments can be heard discreetly and enjoyed.
On Bass Heavy tracks like "Money For Nothing", each individual snare drum strike is heard separately instead of as one continuous cacophony.
George Michael's voice on Careless Whispers doesn't sound sibilant like on other headphones
The saxophone on Candy Dulfer's "Lily Was Here" sounds sweeter than the other TWS.
Jeff Beck sounds delicate and smooth.
Male and female vocals are smooth and enjoyable.
The single Knowles driver is awesome as is the DAC and amp chip.
The Audio Tecnica ATH SQ1TW is an enjoyable warm sound signature whereas the AK UW100MKII is a purist flat signature which can be tweaked via equaliser to give you the AT type warm sound as well. The app has a few preset plus customisable equaliser setting.
Bass heads may need a bit of tweaking or looking elsewhere.
Hope I have cleared a few doubts in the minds of fence sitters.
