Fitness has become a way of life. And what is better than having the perfect music companion when at the gym , running that trail on the beach or taking a ride on the bicycle. What’s a workout without those headphones plugged inside your ears.
With the advent of the iPhone 7 and their iconic #3.5mmDrop, lots of music listeners have started to demand wireless headphones like never before. It’s no surprise then that today the market for Bluetooth headsets is saturated than ever with options. And now, you more than ever are probably in a dilemma of choosing the best bet. That’s where we come in.
In today’s face off, we will compare three very popular contenders, V-MODA’s latest launch, the Forza, the Jaybird Freedom and the Beats by Dr. Dre Powerbeats 3 Wireless.
One look at the V-MODA Forza Metallo Wireless, and they are bound to blow your mind. V-MODA indubitably knows how to make some killer pair of headphones.
The Forza Metallo Wireless sits pretty at the top of the new V-MODA Forza line of sports in-ears.
These mean business. Minimalism is blatantly apparent what with the Forza being designed in Milano.
What sets the design of the Forza apart is that it is the world’s first pair of headphones to sport jewel-grade 3D printing customization. The bling only adds the much needed oomph.
Extremely comfortable, these in-ears fit perfectly into your ear canal. The nice seal makes for the perfect fit and enhances noise isolation. Premium materials have been used to engineer these beauties and we can evidently see the effort gone into these in-ears.
Built like a tank, the Forza Metallo Wireless uses aircraft grade, CN Forged metal housing. The drivers have been safely enclosed inside this. It is not the best pair of headphones for your workout if it is not sweat resistant.
Interestingly, the Forza wireless is weather as well as sweat resistant. This pair of headphones has been tested beyond Military-Level Quality and is built to with stand most harsh weather conditions.
The Noise suppressing dual microphone lets you answer calls with crystal clear voice transmission, and the volume controls adds ease of control.
It’s been a momentous year for V-MODA and the Forza, which means “power” in Italian is not merely a earphone – it’s an inspired uncompromised masterpiece. Apparently, Val Kolton says that the Forza was sculpted overlooking Leonardo Da Vinci place of work for 20 year s called Castle Sforza.
The world has been waiting for the Freedom to be launched with bated breath.
The Jaybird Freedom Wireless is the world’s smallest ear buds, with 8 hours of play time. They are sweatproof and come included with a wide array of accessories.
On the design front, the Freedom features its unapologetic Jaybird standard design. The Jaybird X2, has in the past, set an undisputed benchmark of what sports wireless earbuds should look and feel like. The sand-blasted metal gold and silver accents lend the new Freedom a nice touch. We love the attention to detail. The matte finish body and the prominent Jaybird logo, lend it a look that manages to look elegant and sporty at the same time.
Although the Jaybird Freedom Wireless comes in a plastic build, they are durable and extremely solid. Doubtless, they’re entirely capable, of handling all those heavy duty workouts. The hexagonal ear fins, give you the most perfect fit. In order to further aid and enhance the seal around your ear canal, Jaybird ships the package with 4 pairs of ear fins and ear buds that should be enough to find a dream fit.
A unique feature, the Jaybird MYSOUND app is accessible to Android as well Apple iOS users. Customise the sound in just the way you love to listen to your music.
A carry case comes included in the package. This helps keep your earbuds safe at home as well as when you are on the move. Does its design live up to the hype of it being the smallest earbuds. The answer is a resounding yes.
The Beats Powerbeats 3 Wireless was globally launched last month in tandem with the new iPhone 7 and the Solo3 Wireless.
The first thought that comes to mind upon seeing these, is that they’ve not taken too much of a design departure from the Powerbeats2 Wireless. That said, they’re available in new colours like Flash Blue, Siren Red and Shock Yellow.
They’ve been tightly engineered and designed especially outdoor use. These are lightweight and tough at the same time – just great for use during the most demanding of workouts. Water and sweat resistant, the Powerbeats 3 Wireless are made to push you further and help you handle tough training.
When it comes to the fit, the Powerbeats 3 lets you achieve a tight secure fit. The earhooks can be adjusted to increase your stability as well as comfort during those intense bench presses. However, when it comes to a tight seal, it could be a little too tight around the ears for long workouts.
The astounding 12 hour battery will keep you going. The in-ears also have a redesigned RemoteTalk control so you can take calls during your sweaty run. What’s more, a 5 minute quick charge can get you through 1 hour of music play time.
The cable management clip adds to the total no strings attached wireless experience. Design wise, there’s very little about the Powerbeats 3 that Beats by Dr. Dre loyalists won’t immediately love.
Getting to how these sound...
The V-MODA Forza Metallo Wireless reproduces the best sound quality in sports in-ears that we have ever heard. It does full justice to V-MODA’s award winning v-shaped sound signature. We love its tonal balance which is unsurprising thanks to its 5.8mm Featherweight Micro Driver that juggles between clean highs, vivid mids and vibrant lows. V-MODA’s 3D soundstage creates an enveloping sound, especially for punchy EDM, rap, hip-hop, Bollywood and Punjabi music.
What, perhaps, is the most impressive feature that we admire about the new Forza Metallo Wireless is its CD Quality wireless streaming. We admire V-MODA for attempting to replicate wired sound in a wireless headset. We’ve seen them successfully do that with the Crossfade Wireless and they’ve done it again with the Forza. This is because of their using a Qualcomm Chipset which is regarded as one of the highest-end feature Bluetooth with CD quality wireless audio playback.
We don’t know about you, but the Forza Metallo Wireless definitely takes the cake home.
Jaybird has always been obsessed with bringing music to your active life and does extremely well with the Freedom.
When it comes to the sound, the bass is not very overpowering. This lets the mids and highs come to life. Thus, you can enjoy the best of everything in equal measure.
While the sound may not be for everyone, the Freedom does impress our ears. Most sports earphones tend to go heavy on the bass , but Jaybird has boldly taken a step back in pursuit of a neutral sound signature. The audio is great and will undoubtedly enhance your athletic experience. These perfect fitting and sounding headphones is bound to up your adventure game.
Beats by Dr. Dre is well known for its bass and we are nowhere nearly as surprised as would be the next person. Bass is definitely not a bad thing.
However, we wish it wasn’t as overpowering that it kills the rest of the music. The dual-driver acoustics are meant to deliver powerfully deep lows and dynamic highs. The overall sound signature is very fun sounding, but with a compromise on detail. All about that bass? Then the Powerbeats 3 Wireless is everything your ears could want and more.
Although these in-ears deceive subtle sounding musical genres, they very effectively drive loud, energetic party genres.
If you are a purist and love to listen to your music with it being partial to no particular frequency, then the Powerbeats 3 Wireless 3 will not cut it.
All the contenders in this list are the champs in their own right.
If you care about looks as much as you do sound, the V-MODA Forza Metallo Wireless presents the best value.
For enthusiasts looking for the best fit with a good neutral sound, the Freedom Wireless should be your pick.
For aggressive bassheads (and unconditional Apple fans) the Beats by Dr. Dre Powerbeats 3 is the ultimate choice.
