I've always loved Sony's sound and tuning and this fails to disappoint as well.
I was and still am very happy with my earlier NW-A46 but wanted streaming capabilities as well.
Really happy overall.
One thing to note is that when you insert an SD card it needs to be formatted on the device and kept as phone storage to enable seamless downloading/storage of tracks from streaming services (especially Spotify). i had to format the SD card to NTFS on the PC before it could be reformatted on the device to be used as phone storage.

I struggled to keep my portable music listening on my phone to reduce the number of devices I have to carry around. But 2 main issues, battery life and storage. I pulled the plug and got a dedicated music player.
I was tempted to get a FiiO but listened to the review by Headphonezone of the Sony and was informed that the software experience is a lot smoother than other DAPs. That's a big must have along with access to all your streaming apps (requires the OEM to have signed Gapps and registered Play Services).
I have had android based DAPs in the past that didn't support the play store and didn't have play services available. installing APKs is not the best user experience and imo, not the safest option. The Sony has made it really easy to get my apps installed and ready to use! Sony's >decade of experience with smartphones and android shows in the final result on this player. Smooth with no hangs or stutters.
The Cassette Player screensaver looks really cool.
Build Quality -- Top Notch Build, Metal and Glass with the matte black finish and the Copper Accents for the headphone ports give the device the luxury feel to match the luxury price.
Battery Life -- Haven't measured this fully but current stats show ~8hrs left with 70% battery charge.
Sound Quality -- Was told that the sound quality is typical Sony (I don't know what that is). Compared to other listening the sound was warmer without the harshness that you usually hear in the Highs.
(Could be a combination with my IE600s, will test with my Sundara's soon)
I paired this DAP with my Sennheiser IE600s to begin with. I started my listening with the Headphonezone Rock Audiophile playlist (This was transferred from Spotify to Tidal using Soundiz) so I was able to get the Hi Res version of this playlist. My first impressions on listening to "Layla" (Eric Clapton, Live, Acoustic) were how pleasant the music sounded, there were no standout frequencies and I welcomed the sound stage with all its symphony. All the details were there. My big test for a new audio setup is the overdone "Hotel California" Live Acoustic version by The Eagles, a track that to me is the standard reference point for audiophile listening for the past 20yrs. Again, I enjoyed the balanced sound stage without the highs or lows shouting out to make their presence felt.

FEATURES S-MASTER HX™ HI-RES AUDIO DIGITAL AMPLIFIER AND HIGH-END COMPONENTS FOR PRISTINE AUDIO
Sony has incorporated high-end components in the NW-ZX707 for an enriching listening experience. It features S-Master™ HX digital amp technology, independently developed for Walkman®, is compatible with the Native DSD format and supports Balanced and high power output. It reduces distortion and noise across a wide range of frequencies for rich and full-bodied sound, further enhanced by new high-quality sound lead-free solder. Sony has upgraded the internal components so that the NW-ZX707 now has the performance you’d expect from the highest-grade player to give it a dramatic evolution in sound quality. Adopted as battery assist for the amplifier block, the newly developed large solid high polymer capacitor offers large capacitance and low resistance. Able to instantaneously supply large amounts of power, it can accurately output signals by preventing sudden falls in voltage. This design architecture contributes to clear, accurate bass response and soothing vocals.
FAITHFUL AND SMOOTHER SOUND REPRODUCTION WITH A LARGE SOLID HIGH POLYMER CAPACITOR
The Sony NW-ZX707 hosts an FT CAP3 high polymer capacitor custom-made for Sony and tuned by Sony engineers. All "bypass" capacitors in the audio block power supply use the FT CAP3 design. Drawing on know-how cultivated in high-end home audio development, they help to improve audio expression and create a smoother sound with a "wider" sound space, more transparency, and tighter bass response. A bigger, 8mm coil is employed as the L-C filter to provide the digital amp with the best-balanced output signal possible. By incorporating flat conductive wire, Sony has achieved lower distortion and lower resistance which helps create an improved sound resolution across all frequencies. An OFC (Oxygen-Free Copper) milled block covers the digital block helping both to strengthen digital ground and improve noise shielding from digital block elements such as the application processor and memory devices. The result is an accurate sound that appears to rise from silence.
UNIQUE SOUND PROCESSING TECHNOLOGY WITH DSD REMASTERING ENGINE AND DSEE ULTIMATE
Sony, with their NW-ZX707, has mastered unique sound processing technology to enable Hi-Res music playback. It features a DSD remastering engine that allows PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) audio to be resampled into an 11.2MHz DSD (Direct Stream Digital) ultra-high-frequency 1-bit audio stream. There are now more ways to enjoy your music thanks to the single-bit stream provided by the DAC, which has a character that gives an analogue and organic flavour. The DSEE Ultimate™ (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) upscales compressed digital audio files in real-time, using Edge-AI (Artificial Intelligence).
