STAX - SR-L700 MK2

Before I start: HPZ was kind enough to send me an "Audiophile" T-Shirt along with the package. Thank you for the nice gesture!

I shall not waste your time commenting about the sound quality of these excellent ear-speakers/drivers, instead I'll focus on the overall experience. I am a staunch iem guy, disliked headphones for its ergonomics. STAX made me an immediate convert after the Headphone Connect - Hyderabad (11/24/2019). I was ready to place them on my head, literally; for their sound.

SR-L700 (TOTL Lambda) - I was in dilemma between L700 and L300 LTE. I went with 700 as its diaphragm supposedly belongs to the superior Omega series. Better headbands, real lamb leather lined ear cushions. Resulting in better seal and comfort.

SRM-353X - One of the best out of the box drivers for STAX. Powerful, pro bias; better than 252S. I'm using it in fully balanced mode from DX221.
DSD flows smoothly without the need for any EQ whatsoever.

My only gripe - I am T-Shirt size L, but I received an XL Size. I guess I shouldn't be complaining for a freebie :)

1) Plenue 2 + JH Audio Rosie IEM---- I am using this for last more than 24 months mostly while in travel or walking. The sound is very nice..It is musical, crystal clear, good sound separation. Six months back, I also bought AUNE- B1s amp basically for better sound purpose. There is small benefit in sound quality by adding this amp. But found that the same sound effect can be obtained by increasing volume of Plenue 2. so I do not use it ( Aune B1s Amp) much nowadays.
2) Plenue 2 +Audeze LCD2 ... I heard lot about open back over ear headphones. So purchased Audeze LCD-2 one year back. Very nice sound quality. I shall call it-- punchy, deep bass. I like these cans very much. Six months back I also purchased Audeze Dekard amp assuming that Audeze amplifier shall be good and perfect match for Audeze earphones- LCD-2. Audeze Dekard makes remarkable difference in sound quality of LCD-2. One can feel the more openness, free ease/ flow of sound with use of these amplifier. LCD-2 need amplifier for better sound quality and Dekard is one of the best match.
3) Recently I bought STAX L700 with SRM 353X: (Set up- PLENUE 2+ AUDEZE DEKARD + SRM353 + STAX L700) -- I have used it for last one month. I am not audiophile to describe the sound preciously in words. Sound quality of STAX L700 is very-- fast, crystal clear & accurate. The bass and punch of LCD-2 is better than L700. But L700 has also nice bass and punch. Treble, accuracy and musicality of L700 is the best. I like L700 than LCD-2.
For STAX L700 --What I like most is--- I can now enjoy my Samsung Galaxy S9+ with my STAX L700 through Audeze Dekard. When I listen to U-Tube live performance /Musical concert -- I feel like I am in live show. L700 is very good enjoying experience for listening (and also viewing ) to such live music concert.

...and too early to review the headphones. Brand new, they are not pleasant to listen to. Four stars because of that.

I'm hoping they will mellow-down, or my ears will adjust to them after listening for a bit. Another problem could be the energiser I'm using.

I had good experience when visiting the experience center at Mumbai and also had good support from the team there in selection of the headphone and I ended up ordering this headphone along with D50 energiser.

While I am happy with the sound quality but super disappointed on following counts:
- visibility to delivery schedules after order: I was told at the experience center that order usually gets delivered in 2/3 days but in my case I did no receive any update post order about delivery schedules/ dates. I sent at least two emails but got no clear communication for at least 3/4 days about actual delivery schedule. I was to travell in a week so was expecting to receive before that but delivery finally came after a week by which I was already travelling.
- No real time technical support for customers: further after a week when I return tried to set up the system I realized that my mobile can not be directly connected as the D50 unit doesn't have USB c port and needs regular USB. I struggled to find right contact to speak to someone who can help and confirm right converter etc but all possible contacts are delayed I.e. email or call back. Could not find any real time support number for guidance and had to rely on my own online research
- Worst Earpad quality and non leather earpad while specs of product on site talks about genuine leather earpads: I had finally started enjoying the music and feeling happy and finished about 8-10hours of listening but realized yesterday that the earpad layer has started peeling off which means these are not genuine leather as was claimed on the website and even if non leather in just about 10/12 hour use in a week or days of unboxiing is lowest quality expensive even worse than Chinese products or cheapest products.

I don't know what would be the right solution, are these headphone old and demo paid or has someone changed earpads. Plz ask someone to contact back and fix this urgently. I can share pictures if required of the peeling off on the ear pads.

I personally admire Raghav for the amazing company that he has built with full passion for a very different category product in India but with bright future. However for issues reported above needs more improvements to match other global marketplaces experience.
