Flat Sound Signature

A Flat sound signature offers an accurate presentation of sounds without adding colour to your music. Simply put, this sound signature presents audio without boosting any frequencies. As a result, it’s the most natural-sounding signature and provides the closest reproduction of how a track was recorded and produced. Due to their accurate sound reproduction, flat sound signature headphones are preferred by Music professionals, Sound Engineers and used in professional studios for mixing and mastering music tracks and are also loved by audiophiles for immersive listening sessions. You can listen to Classical, Rock, Jazz, Blues, Folk & possibly every genre in music.

Ideal for Audiophiles

You can expect them to present a refined listening experience. The audio quality exhibited by these headphones is a beautiful mix of musicality, technical brilliance and high precision.

These headphones deliver a spacious and open soundstage with utmost clarity and detail. Delve into pure sonic bliss with these headphones!

Ideal for
Indoor Use

Open-Back Design

Headphones with an open-back design, allow air to pass through the earcups. This means that Open-Backs do not block any noise from around you, as closed-backs do, and music being heard will also leak outside to people around you. So they can only be heard in a quiet environment.

However, Open-back headphones do sound more natural and open. Open-back headphones create a feeling of space, presenting audio as if you are sitting at a live concert. Audiophiles swear by open-back headphones, and they sound quite different to closed-backs.

These headphones are perfect for critical listening sessions, mixing and mastering music. They have an accurate soundstage presentation and precise imaging.

Electrostatic Drivers

Electrostatic drivers use the concept of static electricity (i.e., no moving charges) to create an electric field, as opposed to drivers that work by electromagnetic force. These drivers are capable of capturing even the minutest details in your recordings. Electrostatic drivers are known for lending excellent details, treble extension and "wide" frequency response.

Needs Amplification

Headphones and IEMs require a certain level of power to sound their best and work at their full potential. When your headphones or IEMs are underpowered, they can sound thin or muffled.

Amplifiers are required to provide adequate power to your headphone or IEMs to perform at their best. Simply put, amplifiers allow a weak audio signal to be boosted to a powerful one.

To put it into perspective, devices such as your phones and laptops come with an amplifier, but they offer very limited output power. This output may not be sufficient to power headphones and IEMs to shine at their best. This is where a dedicated amplifier is required to deliver adequate power to hear your music in all its glory.

Tangle-Free Cables

Every time you reach for headphone cables to connect them to your headphones, no matter how neatly you "wrapped" them up, they end up in a giant Gordian knot of frustration.

Tangled cables are the bane of modern existence, and everyone owning a wired pair of headphones can attest to this. With advances in cable-making techniques and radical approaches to manufacturing, there are now several solutions to this universal problem.

You get Flat cables, Mesh Design cables, cables coated with exterior covers and cables designed with a zipper style design to avoid tangling and attempt to solve the issue.

For its core wires, SR-L700 has 6NCu high purity (99.99999%) copper wires. The outer perimeter consists of 6 silver-plated high purity (99.99999%) copper wires for a better drive. This Optic Fibre Cable (OFC) uses a wide parallel structure to reduce the capacitance, letting you experience your music as though it were recorded live. The sound quality of the SR-L700 is excellent. Heat diffusion is used in the fabrication of the three-layer stainless photo-etched electrodes for crystal-clear, transparent sound. Special care is taken to choose a thin-film diaphragm for the sound element. Experience the balanced sound with delicate highs, soothing mids and deep bass.

Everything about the SR-L700 is made to enhance the sound and your listening experience. This also includes the handcrafted genuine lamb leather earpads. These earpads provide added comfort while letting you enjoy your music for long hours. The SR-L700 offers optimum comfort for long listening sessions. The 10-click slider mechanism allows you to adjust the soft headband for a better fit. Once adjusted, it stays put so that you don’t have to constantly re-adjust it every time you wear it. This design avoids fatigue and lets you entirely immerse yourself in the music.

Japanese Electrostatic Pioneers From 1938

Stax, founded in 1938, is a Japanese company that makes high-end audio equipment. Twenty-two years later, in 1960, Stax released their first electrostatic earspeaker, the Stax SR-1. Over the following thirty-six years, Stax produced a variety of amplification, earspeaker, tonearm, CD player, DAC, phono cartridge and loudspeaker products.

Stax is best known for its electrostatic and electret headphones, which they call earspeakers. Electrostatic headphones work similarly to electrostatic loudspeakers but on a smaller scale. In 1995, fifty-seven years after the company’s foundation, it became insolvent. The company was revived in 1996 as the new STAX company. In December 2011, Chinese loudspeaker manufacturer Edifier announced the acquisition of 100% equity in Stax.

"The Stax SR-L700 offers supreme detail and a type of diffuse, airy, almost inscrutable presentation that you won’t find anywhere else. I’d consider it well worth the price of admission. "

Floor-standers over your ears

Before I start: HPZ was kind enough to send me an "Audiophile" T-Shirt along with the package. Thank you for the nice gesture!

I shall not waste your time commenting about the sound quality of these excellent ear-speakers/drivers, instead I'll focus on the overall experience. I am a staunch iem guy, disliked headphones for its ergonomics. STAX made me an immediate convert after the Headphone Connect - Hyderabad (11/24/2019). I was ready to place them on my head, literally; for their sound.

SR-L700 (TOTL Lambda) - I was in dilemma between L700 and L300 LTE. I went with 700 as its diaphragm supposedly belongs to the superior Omega series. Better headbands, real lamb leather lined ear cushions. Resulting in better seal and comfort.

SRM-353X - One of the best out of the box drivers for STAX. Powerful, pro bias; better than 252S. I'm using it in fully balanced mode from DX221.
DSD flows smoothly without the need for any EQ whatsoever.

Thanks to Mr. Raghav Somani (CEO) for putting my purchasing apprehensions to rest.
Shout out to Mr. Salim for the excellent communication, his availability to answer my queries and shipping it out fast. Received the items within 24Hrs, the very next day.
My only gripe - I am T-Shirt size L, but I received an XL Size. I guess I shouldn't be complaining for a freebie :)

STAX L700 + SRM 353, Audeze LCD-2

1) Plenue 2 + JH Audio Rosie IEM---- I am using this for last more than 24 months mostly while in travel or walking. The sound is very nice..It is musical, crystal clear, good sound separation. Six months back, I also bought AUNE- B1s amp basically for better sound purpose. There is small benefit in sound quality by adding this amp. But found that the same sound effect can be obtained by increasing volume of Plenue 2. so I do not use it ( Aune B1s Amp) much nowadays.
2) Plenue 2 +Audeze LCD2 ... I heard lot about open back over ear headphones. So purchased Audeze LCD-2 one year back. Very nice sound quality. I shall call it-- punchy, deep bass. I like these cans very much. Six months back I also purchased Audeze Dekard amp assuming that Audeze amplifier shall be good and perfect match for Audeze earphones- LCD-2. Audeze Dekard makes remarkable difference in sound quality of LCD-2. One can feel the more openness, free ease/ flow of sound with use of these amplifier. LCD-2 need amplifier for better sound quality and Dekard is one of the best match.
3) Recently I bought STAX L700 with SRM 353X: (Set up- PLENUE 2+ AUDEZE DEKARD + SRM353 + STAX L700) -- I have used it for last one month. I am not audiophile to describe the sound preciously in words. Sound quality of STAX L700 is very-- fast, crystal clear & accurate. The bass and punch of LCD-2 is better than L700. But L700 has also nice bass and punch. Treble, accuracy and musicality of L700 is the best. I like L700 than LCD-2.
For STAX L700 --What I like most is--- I can now enjoy my Samsung Galaxy S9+ with my STAX L700 through Audeze Dekard. When I listen to U-Tube live performance /Musical concert -- I feel like I am in live show. L700 is very good enjoying experience for listening (and also viewing ) to such live music concert.

...and too early to review the headphones. Brand new, they are not pleasant to listen to. Four stars because of that.

I'm hoping they will mellow-down, or my ears will adjust to them after listening for a bit. Another problem could be the energiser I'm using.

Hi, thanks for the review. We're sorry to hear that the headphones are not pleasant to listen to at this early stage. We would recommend waiting until they've had more time to mature before making a judgement on their quality. Thanks for taking the time to write a review.
