Think of it as a translator, taking the digital code of your music and meticulously sculpting it back into a smooth, analog wave that your speakers can understand. But just like a sculptor needs the right tools, achieving audio nirvana with a DAC depends on two key factors: sampling rate and bit depth.


Sampling Rate:

Imagine your favourite song as a complex rollercoaster track. The sampling rate refers to how often the DAC takes measurements of this digital track, measured in kHz (kilohertz) or thousands of times per second. A higher sampling rate, like 96 kHz, is like taking a ton of pictures of the track, capturing every twist and turn with incredible detail. Lower rates, like the standard 44.1 kHz used in CDs, are like taking snapshots at a theme park – fun, but you might miss some of the subtler details that make the ride truly exhilarating.


Bit Depth:

Now, think about the sculptor's tools. Bit depth refers to the precision of each measurement the DAC takes. Imagine the number of colours available to the sculptor. With higher bit depth (e.g., 24 bits compared to 16 bits), each measurement can capture a wider range of values. This allows the DAC to recreate subtler variations in the sound wave, resulting in richer and more nuanced audio. EarMen Tradutto is a piece-of-art with the power to enhance the sonic performance of your system. At the heart of EarMen Tradutoo is the high-quality ESS Sabre ES9038K2M converter that delivers an outstanding audio performance that can process digital audio files up to 32bit/768kHz and DSD512, allowing you to enjoy high-resolution music with every detail. The clock in the Tradutto is carefully adjusted and has minimal jitter. The digital and analogue parts of the circuit are also carefully separated by the power supply. Furthermore, the whole circuit design is optimised to draw less current and improve power filtering, resulting in low interferences from Wi-Fi, cellular, and Bluetooth signals. EarMen Tradutto is carefully engineered for true audiophiles.

EMBEDDED WITH XMOS 16 CORE CHIP WITH WIMA CAPACITORS FOR MQA SUPPORT

The team at EarMen decided to utilise the XMOS XU216 chip with 16 cores which with its excellent performance enabled the Tradutto to decode MQA formats as well as other necessary functions for listening to music. XMOS XU216 16-Core chip delivers double the clock speed of 2000MIPS and four times the memory at 512KB. This chip allows the EarMen Tradutto to play the highest audio formats effortlessly. Wima capacitors are embedded to obtain the lowest THD as well as audio electrolytes in combination with MELF low noise resistors and SoundPlus OPA1642 operational amplifiers, which proved to be great for getting neutral sound.
