4.4 Balanced Plug

Why it Sounds Amazing

🔈 Hybrid Drivers

Looking for a combo of rich and detailed sound 🎵?

We love describing hybrid drivers as getting "the best of both worlds" in one beautifully engineered package. These headphones feature sophisticated hybrid technology that masterfully combines different driver types to deliver extraordinary sonic experiences. Think of it like having a sports car with luxury comfort you get the precision and speed of performance engineering combined with the richness and smoothness of premium materials.

By integrating multiple driver technologies, these devices achieve both rich, full bodied sound and intricate detail reproduction. The result is a harmonious blend that captures subtle nuances and powerful dynamics, with each driver type contributing unique strengths to create a complete audio experience ⚖️.

When you see "🔈 Hybrid Drivers" products, expect expertly balanced performance that combines the best characteristics of different driver technologies for complete musical enjoyment.
🛁 U-Shaped Sound Signature

We have found that a U shaped signature brings music to life without sacrificing the heart of the track. It lifts both ends like a V shape does, but the midrange is far less recessed and slopes gently rather than dropping into a sudden scoop, so the result is energetic and natural instead of aggressive or hollow. Audiophiles often liken it to a subtle bathtub curve, and once you listen, the balance makes perfect sense 🛁.

Here is what is actually happening. The tuning concentrates its lift at the deepest sub bass and upper treble, leaving the core midrange frequencies clear, rich, and present. Lows provide satisfying rumble underneath while the highs add crisp detail and air above, allowing acoustic instruments and lead singers to keep their rightful body and intimacy. You get all the excitement and energy of an elevated presentation without losing the original timbre of instruments and vocals. That combination is superb for pop, rock, and diverse modern productions where you want engaging dynamics without pushing the vocals into the background.

When you see "🛁 U-Shaped Sound Signature" products, expect a rumbly, vibrant, and immersive sound with weight at the bottom, sparkle at the top, and vocals that stay clear and full in the center.
💣 Thick Bass / Kickass Bass

When We say kickass bass, We’re talking about bass that slaps you right in the face in the best way possible. It’s that visceral, chest thumping low end that makes you feel like you’re in the front row of a concert or a nightclub. If you’re into hip hop, EDM, Bollywood beats, or anything with a deep groove, this is where the fun begins. 🔊💥

Here’s what’s going on technically: the low frequency range is heavily emphasised, resulting in powerful sub bass rumble and impactful mid bass slam. This kind of tuning brings weight, warmth, and physicality to your music. The trade off? It might mask some midrange detail or high frequency sparkle but for bassheads, the emotional payoff is more than worth it.
🍿 Crisp Vocals & Instruments

Vocals and instruments sound so good, it's like a warm hug 🤗!

We believe that when vocals are reproduced correctly, they should feel like the artist is performing right there with you. These headphones demonstrate exceptional prowess in reproducing clear, articulate vocals and instruments, with each element rendered in stunning detail and separation. Think of it like having front row seats to an intimate acoustic performance where every breath, every string resonance, every subtle inflection comes through perfectly.

The natural timbre and tonal accuracy create an engaging presentation where every nuance is preserved while maintaining fatigue free listening. Each word, note, and subtle inflection is reproduced with outstanding definition and emotional connection 🎤.

When you encounter "🍿 Crisp Vocals & Instruments" products, expect vocal excellence that brings you closer to the emotional heart of every performance.
📌 Sharp & Precise Details

Are you a lover of sharp and precise details 🔍?

We believe that detail retrieval is like having audio superpowers suddenly, you hear things in familiar songs that you never knew existed. These premium headphones are meticulously engineered to deliver remarkably detailed and precise sound reproduction, capturing every subtle nuance with exceptional accuracy. Think of them like high resolution cameras for your ears that reveal the finest textures and micro details that most headphones simply miss.

The carefully tuned drivers and advanced acoustic design ensure even the most delicate musical elements are reproduced with stunning precision. From the gentle brush of a cymbal to the subtle resonance of acoustic instruments, these products capture and present every sonic detail with remarkable accuracy 🎯.

When you see "📌 Sharp & Precise Details" products, expect extraordinary detail resolution that reveals new layers in familiar recordings with stunning clarity and precision.
✨ Bright & Sparkly Highs

Who says treble can't be done right ⭐?

We tend to describe these headphones as having "magical sparkle" in the high frequencies that makes cymbals shimmer and vocals shine without ever becoming harsh. These products excel in delivering pristine, crystalline high frequencies with remarkable precision and finesse. Think of it like the difference between cheap glitter and real diamonds both sparkle, but one does it with elegance and refinement that never hurts your eyes.

The treble presentation is masterfully tuned to showcase delicate nuances in the upper register, offering brilliant and engaging listening without fatigue. Every cymbal shimmer, violin overtone, and vocal harmony is reproduced with exceptional clarity and natural brilliance ✨.

When you see "✨ Bright & Sparkly Highs" products, expect extraordinary treble clarity that discovers new layers of detail while maintaining smooth, fatigue free listening.
🔍 Perfect to Analyse Music

Delve deeper into intricate musical layers 🎼!

We believe that some headphones are like musical microscopes they reveal details and nuances that most people never even know exist in their favourite songs. These specialised audio tools are meticulously engineered for those who seek to explore the deepest intricacies of sound, offering exceptional precision for detailed music analysis. Think of them as detective tools for music that help you uncover every hidden element in complex compositions.

With its combination of technical excellence and refined sound, the Astral stands as a reliable companion for both studio work and critical music enjoyment.

Features A 10mm Bioceramic-Diaphragm Dynamic Driver For Strong Low-Ends

The Kiwi Ears Astral features a special 10mm bioceramic diaphragm dynamic driver, made in-house for clear and detailed sound. It’s designed to produce a deep, strong sub-bass that blends smoothly into the rest of the frequency spectrum. The bass is tuned with a gentle roll-off around 300Hz, so it doesn’t overpower the mids. This gives the music a warm, full low-end while keeping vocals and instruments clear and natural.

Utilises 6 BA Drivers For Accurate Mid-Range and Treble Presentation

Kiwi Ears Astral features six balanced armature drivers, split into two dual midrange units and two ultra-high frequency tweeters. The custom midrange drivers are tuned to sound neutral and natural, especially for vocals and instruments, with a slight emphasis at 2.8kHz to match how our ears naturally hear. The tweeter, adapted from the well-known SWFK design, has been refined to produce a smooth, extended treble that blends perfectly with the midrange, avoiding any sharp or harsh tones. With the help of  this setup, Kiwi Ears Astral delivers a clear, balanced sound across the mids and highs, making music feel natural and detailed from top to bottom.

Meticulously Tuned To Present Punchy And Accurate Sound

The sound of Kiwi Ears Astral is tuned to present a balance of power and precision. It has a 9dB boost in the sub-bass, giving deep and powerful lows that flow smoothly into the low-midrange with a gentle cutoff at 300Hz, keeping the bass tight and controlled. The midrange stays flat and neutral, so vocals and instruments sound natural and true. In the treble, there’s a clear peak at 2.8kHz for added clarity, followed by a smooth roll-off up to 15kHz, adding sparkle, openness, and a spacious feel without any sharpness.

Bundled With A Modular Cable And Essential Accessories

The Kiwi Ears Astral package comes bundled with the Astral in-ear monitors and a detachable cable for easy replacement or upgrades, both 3.5mm and 4.4mm plugs for versatile connectivity, and three pairs of ear tips to ensure a comfortable, secure fit. It's like having a master key that works with your smartphone, laptop, tablet, and practically every new device you'll buy. • DAC Chip

We like to say the DAC chip is the heart of any audio device it’s the part that actually transforms digital files into music you can hear 🎧. Think of it like a chef decoding a recipe to create a delicious meal. The better the DAC chip, the more faithfully it translates your music. And in my experience, a great DAC can completely change how your headphones sound.

Now, here’s what’s actually happening: a Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) takes digital signals (your MP3s, FLACs, or streams) and converts them into an analog waveform your ears can enjoy. Different DAC chips like those from ESS, AKM, or Cirrus Logic offer their own sound signatures, levels of clarity, and noise performance. A good DAC ensures accurate timing, minimal distortion, and exceptional resolution.

When you see '⚙️ DAC Chip' products, expect: clean, detailed audio and better synergy with high quality headphones perfect for anyone upgrading from average sound to audiophile quality.
  • Power Output

We like to think of power output in audio gear like engine horsepower, it determines how much muscle your setup really has 💪. Whether you’re trying to drive a pair of power hungry planar headphones or just want headroom for dynamic peaks, power output is the spec you want to check first.

Technically, it refers to the amount of electrical power (measured in mW or Watts) an amp or DAC/Amp combo can deliver to your headphones. More power means better control, improved dynamics, and the ability to handle demanding gear without distortion. But more isn’t always better, too much power with sensitive IEMs can introduce hiss or harshness.

When you see '🚀 Power Output' products, expect: strong driving capability, better dynamics, and optimal performance with headphones that need serious juice to shine.

  • For Budding Enthusiasts

In our experience, discovering good audio gear early on is a bit like tasting great coffee for the first time once you've had a sip, you're hooked. "For Budding Enthusiasts" is a badge we use for products that are perfect gateways into the audiophile world. They're easy to use, not overly expensive, and give you a real taste of what good sound can be without needing a degree in audio engineering. 🎧

These are the IEMs, headphones, and DACs that let you dip your toes into premium sound without drowning in choices. They balance performance, price, and practicality beautifully. Whether you're buying your first serious pair or helping someone else start their journey, these picks deliver satisfaction straight out of the box.

When you see '🪴 For Budding Enthusiasts' products, expect simple setups, solid sound quality, and an easy upgrade path perfect for your first foray into better audio.
  • Works Great with Type-C

Don't have a 3.5mm headphone jack on your phone?

No need to worry 📞 We believe these products represent the future of seamless audio connectivity. Think of Type C as the universal language that all modern devices are learning to speak. It's like having a master key that works with your smartphone, laptop, tablet, and practically every new device you'll buy. These headphones connect directly to your Type C port, delivering pristine digital audio without any dongles or adapters cluttering your setup.

The direct Type C connection ensures both convenience and optimal audio performance, maintaining the integrity of your listening experience through a clean digital signal path. You'll enjoy plug and play functionality with universal compatibility, eliminating those frustrating moments of searching for the right adapter.

When you encounter "📱 Works Great with Type C" products, expect seamless connectivity with modern devices and future proof design that grows with your tech ecosystem.

  • Balanced Output

We often say balanced output is like using both hands to carry something heavy it distributes power evenly and keeps things stable. In audio gear, balanced output helps reduce unwanted noise and interference, especially over longer cables. Think of it as a cleaner, more efficient way to transmit your music, ideal for anyone using high end DACs, amps, or studio grade headphones 🎧. You’ll typically find it on gear with XLR or 4.4mm connectors, and it's a must have if you’re chasing that ultra clean signal path.

Here’s what’s actually happening: a balanced output uses two separate signals, one inverted, so when interference is picked up along the cable, it gets cancelled out when the signals are recombined. The result? Cleaner audio, better dynamic range, and more power output especially when paired with balanced headphones. The trade off? You’ll need gear that supports balanced connections on both ends to really enjoy the benefits.

When you see '⚖️ Balanced Output' products, expect: ultra low noise, more headroom, and better synergy with high impedance headphones or sensitive IEMs ideal for serious listening setups.

The Astral is a great U-Shaped tuned IEM with deep bass response alongside with a well extended treble, and flat midrange. It has great clarity; everything sounds crystal clear and well defined.
The Kiwi Ears Astral is an IEM that exceeded my expectations. While it’s marketed as a reference tool, what I hear is a dynamic, genre-friendly tuning with just the right mix of technical capability and engaging presentation.
The flurry of recent products released by the brand, the Kiwi Ears Astral stands out for its clarity and resolution. Utimately, it’s a great IEM but it comes priced highly and thus faces a lot of tough competition.

  • Bright Neutral Sound Signature

We like to think of bright neutral as an honest tuning with the lights turned up on top. The bass and mids stay uncoloured and true to the recording, and the only thing that changes is a little extra air above them. In everyday listening it feels clean and open, the sound of a window being opened in a room you did not realise was stuffy 🫧.

Here's what's actually happening. The base tuning is neutral, and a gentle lift in the upper frequencies adds clarity and space without tipping into full brightness. That is the difference from a bright signature: bright is treble led all the way through, bright neutral is honest first with a polite lift on the top end. The trade off is weight. This tuning runs lean at the bottom, so listeners who want bass slam should look elsewhere.

When you see "🫧 Bright Neutral Sound Signature" products, expect clean, airy and open sound with plenty of detail and none of the harshness.

  • Extra-bass Sound Signature

When we say extra-bass, we mean music you do not just hear, you feel. Bass drops that rumble in your chest, beats that move your body, and a low end that turns your headphones into a small dance floor. This is not a subtle tuning and it is not trying to be 🕺.

Here's what's actually happening. The low frequency range is heavily boosted, giving you a thick, punchy response that dominates the whole presentation and pulls everything else into orbit around it. It is enormously satisfying for EDM, trap, hip-hop and Bollywood tracks with heavy beats. The trade off is everything else. Vocals and treble step back, and a strong mid-bass lift can blur finer detail. For bassheads, that is a price worth paying every time.

When you see "🎛️ Extra-Bass Sound Signature" products, expect powerful, physical low end that puts the beat in charge and makes every session feel like an event.
  • Thick Bass / Kickass Bass

  • Smooth & Sweet Treble

Seeking something that sounds smooth and devoid of harshness 🥰? We tend to describe these headphones as having "silk like highs" that caress your ears rather than assault them. These products are meticulously designed to deliver high frequencies that are wonderfully gentle, offering a listening experience that's both sophisticated and delightful. Think of it like the difference between premium chocolate and cheap candy both are sweet, but one provides refined pleasure while the other can be overwhelming.

The carefully tuned treble presentation ensures musical details come through with remarkable clarity while maintaining natural, fatigue free character. The refined high frequency presentation maintains excellent detail and air while avoiding any hint of harshness or stridency ✨.

When you see "🍦 Smooth & Sweet Treble" products, expect refined high frequencies that deliver crisp detail with a touch of sweetness and sophistication.
  • Perfect to Layback & Relax

In our experience, a laid back sound is like sinking into your favorite armchair after a long day. It doesn’t push details in your face or try to overwhelm you with energy. Instead, it gives your music room to breathe and unfold naturally. Think of it like sipping a glass of smooth whisky there’s warmth, body, and ease. These headphones or IEMs are ideal for those who want to unwind and soak in a mellow vibe, whether it's a jazz trio or acoustic singer songwriter set. 🎧

Now, what’s actually happening here is a tuning that gently rolls off the treble and offers a warm, full low end. The midrange stays intimate, while bass adds comfort without punch, and highs avoid fatigue, making long sessions a pleasure. You won’t get maximum detail or separation but that’s the point. It’s not about dissecting the mix it’s about relaxing into it. For bedtime listening or just zoning out, this is your sonic hammock. 😌

A good Technical set - If you can handle the treble spice.

I think I am a fan of Astral “U” shaped tuning where bass and treble are elevated in lower most and upper most frequencies respectively. Thus, they sound livelier and more energetic than neutral iems. Unlike traditional “V” shaped iems as u can imagine have more bass(200-300hz) and treble in the 3-6k region. This can lead to the Mids feeling really compressed and recessed in the track, affecting male vocals and instruments greatly. The “U” shape of Astrals gives way more room for the Mids to do their thing.
The bass in the Astrals are by no means “anaemic” at all. They have good sub-bass extension till about 150hz which is very well controlled but with somewhat recessed mid bass. They sound a bit fuller & rounded than the usual neutral “sub bass only” boosted iems. There is absolutely no bloat (not boomy) here but a lot of rumble. It is well controlled, but it might not satisfy bass heads who want more heft and slam.
The Astrals does a good job in separating the vocals from the instruments. Vocals really sound separate from the track- which I feel is a good thing. The mid-range is genuinely good and feels natural, especially the upper-midrange (female vocals) emphasis is appreciable. We shall now talk about my pain point – the treble
Trebles sound incredibly sparkly and instruments often have a distinct “snap” and “crackle”. On treble heavy tracks though it can sound painful though, having me groan every now and then on some screeching on some notes. Song with high treble energy like “Michael Jackson’s Thriller” can be quite difficult to listen to at higher volumes.
The imaging presented by the Astrals is analogous to that of an over-sharpened image, they sound crisp. These iems have very high detail retrieval achieved by the high treble. The Astrals are very analytical, bringing hidden layers of distinct beats to the foreword which I have not experienced in other audio products.
I have tried tuning the Astrals with IEF preference target curve. While yes, the treble harshness is completely gone, I don’t think that’s is the way to do it. The iems become completely normal and loses its special zing it had. I prefer to not EQ and would rather buy iems with better stock tuning. I don’t have super knowledge in EQing iems to my exact preference and they also often don’t take to EQ very well.
I think Astrals higher freq trebles balances out the bass for an overall balanced sound. However sometimes it can feel a bit sterile and not musical. Thus, I find it sometimes hard to enjoy the iems for casual music listening. This is very different from my other iem pair – Softears Volume S.

One more thing i have to say - the accessories for this iem is simply atrocious. When IEMS like tangzu red-lion are able to give a much better package at fraction of the cost.
