I bought S.M.S.L - PS100 to hook it with my TV and Fosi BT20A Pro for2.1 setup. I used generic HDMI Arc Audio Extractor from Amazon and the sound is grey/very flat and no contrast/dynamic. I gave a try with this and the first impression is very good! Highs are much more hearable and mids are crystal clear. One weak point is low/bass. Less punchy and less tight in bass. But I was in the search of mid and highs. So I am much happy with S.M.S.L - PS100.

Great sounding DAC which can be used with your classic stereo amplifier. Have set it up to use the HDMI Arc of smart TV. Dont have to worry about manualy setting the volume as it responds to TV arc. Only downside is that the supplied HDMI cable was not working with my TVs arc port. Used another high grade HDMI cable. Supplied cables works fine to connect set top box to TV
It connects ARC - (not sure of eArc) via HDMI - your TV to it. RCA Takes everything to your amp or receiver. It connects bluetooth, Coaxial and also any TYPC playing phone / Audio device. You may need to have an extra phone always to power it on. Wall adaptors doesn't seem to work, if you get lucky tell me what watts of charging brick should I use to connect it to power on without a phone. Very useful one. Esp my TV where i use Spotify most. HDMI delivers HI-RES to the Dac and therefore to the amp. So it adds many high quality inputs to your amp, esp when you have amps like Fosi - where inputs are less.

Finally it arrived. It took some time to figure out the TV audio settings and then the audio exprience was truly amazing. I have a 2.1 channel speaker system and wanted to have the best sound possible for watching TV and its been worth it for its price.

Bought this to route digital output from my smart TV to my stereo setup. Tested eARC and BT and sound quality definitely gets a boost. One word of caution - please remember to have adequate pre-amplification in the chain

man you can't see the goosebumps, i have wasted too much potential of my pioneers (bs22-lr, nothing fancy) never experienced the low end before thought they didn't have it, i have new found respect for my dusty old speakers, dac is small doesn't take too much space sits right on top of amp (smsl sa50), how many audiophiles would have turned in their grave if they had seen my speakers resting on table naked (lol), it feels like the fucker fish is singing me a personal concert, immediately out of box without correcting my mistakes difference was apparent vocals came alive, now i am 2 rooms down and still can hear clearly what that fucker is singing. "One man's trash is another man's treasure", without a toe in the game i would've assumed its on cheaper side but without a way to discern the basics, its best to experience small change to bring new definition to my listening experience. Now let me burn a little brighter now.
Every other input is working except for Hdmi, and the dac in general is built well
I bought this model specially to connect via Bluetooth + having HDMI option for future. I was worried about the audio sync delay with video, because I didn't find the BT version written anywhere. Luckily it works great without any delay. So far I've tested it with appleTV 4K 2nd gen and my computer which have dedicated BT 5.3 pcie card. Pairing is seamless but I was unable to connect 2 BT devices (on standby) at once.

Paired it with fosi audio bt20a pro. Now I can connect my tv to my fosi amp through this. Quality is good. Thanks. But the Hdmi cable came in the box is faulty. But that is fine as I already have a spare hdmi cable.
Its a tiny box that I use with my android TV box and the difference it makes in sound quality is tremendous. Without this DAC the sound feels hollow and lifeless, but with this switched on, the sound comes to life. I'm using this with a class D amp and full size bookshelf speakers. Love the SQ improvement. With its low price, its just a great purchase.

I use Sony RF400 wireless TV headphones. The wireless operation is with an FM signal. The base station needs a 3.5 mm headphone socket for the audio input, and it transmits the wireless signal over FM. My Jio set-top box, however, only has an optical output. This SMSL unit takes the set-top box's optical output and converts it to an analog signal on RCA outputs. I use an RCA-to-3.5 adapter and plug my Sony headphones in. I could plug the Sony headphones into the headphone socket on the TV, but that would shut off the TV speakers. Sometimes, I need both the headphones, and the speakers, at the same time. Like when there's someone in front of the TV, but I need to listen from another room. Or when my hearing-impaired mother and I watch something together. She needs the headphones, but I need the speakers. This SMSL box works perfectly.

The smsl ps100 has good clarity & separation but it's high frequency sounds from tv are harsh/shrill... No warmth in sound

No nonsense, to the tip of word "apt" product.
Plastic body is one of the cost saving part yet connections and button are long lasting ones.
BT is lagging the quality of true audiophile starting grade, if it is the reason to buy.
I think the philosophy of enjoying any VFM is, take the quality of a product from the eyes of a kid getting a first gift.

I've been using it for over a week now.
One thing I've noticed, sometimes (happened twice with me), it just stupid outputting sound from HDMI ARC.
I don't know if it's a problem with the TV, or this device.
I then have to swap it out with the optical out. That works. But I can't control the volume with TV remote, while connected to optical.
This issue has soured my experience with this device.
Was looking this dac for tv it is average 3stars did not meet my expectations lowers bass but enchances other other frequencies
